9 Kerkhoff Risk & compliance check As a first step, neutral stock-taking is carried out in an organizational and process analysis. All necessary elements of a Compliance Management System are substantively analyzed and assessed. This is followed by a functionality check. Here will be checked whether the existing controls and measures are designed in a way that breaches of regulations are detected with reasonable assurance. In a third step, we check the effectiveness of the existing Compliance Management System, i.e. to what extent the implemented basic principles are sufficiently effective.
