From a simple question asked at reception, a request for assistance, planning of a trip, request for a taxi, to a complaint about the hotel room, it is essential for the hotel organization to be able to contact responsible staff members without unnecessary delay. When conferences are held at the hotel, fast relaying of requests to the summit steward ensures that the flow of the meeting is not interrupted. Safety and security In the field of safety and security, it is important to monitor emergency doors, either to counteract misuse or to indicate a possible emergency. Staff members can be informed immediately to investigate and take appropriate action. Interfacing the paging system and the fire alarm system will contribute strongly to the safety and security of guests and staff. Using vibration or soft bleep patterns, the paging system immediately and discretely informs the security staff of a possible emergency, allowing them to check without delay. In this way, panic among guests is prevented and in the case of a fire, evacuation can be commenced in an orderly, controlled fashion. A swift response is critical when dealing with requests for help from guest rooms equipped with emergency assistance buttons or pull cords. Flawless operation of equipment and devices contribute strongly to the quality of the guests stay in the hotel. In case of a technical problem, swift and discrete reporting to the technical staff will enable immediate correction and minimize or prevent inconveniences to guests. This can prevent annoyance caused by malfunctioning lights, escalators, elevators, air conditioning, parking barriers and automatic doors, to name only a few. The system also helps monitor and secure optimal operation of essential equipment and devices.

4 Important features Interfacing with the telephone exchange enables use of the house telephone system to call for individuals. For example, housekeeping can request assistance in case guest rooms cannot be finished in time for arriving guests. System configuration A small number of paging transmitters and aerials are installed as required to achieve full system coverage of the hotel premises, from basement to rooftop. Special radiating coaxial cable can be used to optimize system coverage in basements. Up to 5 terminal PC s, running the DP-Client ter minal software, can be connected to the paging system via the hotel s TCP/IP network, enabling convenient paging call initiation using the program s extensive pre-programming capacities (names of individuals and groups, messages, speed-buttons, etc.) A central paging server PC manages the system efficiently and reliably and keeps a log of all paging messages. Bosch s paging receivers offer high-performance, versatile functionality. Up to 14 bleep patterns and up to 7 vibration patterns are available to distinguish between urgent and normal messages, individual messages or group messages. It is possible to create many individual and group addresses, allowing optimal flexibility. Alphanumeric paging receivers are equipped with large backlit 24-character displays, allowing messages of up to 48 characters. This is more than sufficient to inform staff and at the same time prevents long and time-consuming messages that might create misunderstandings. If a staff member is absent and the pager is placed in a storage rack, a received message is automatically forwarded to a colleague s pager to ensure follow-up. Paging PC server Storage/charge racks

5 A telephone coupler interfaces the paging system to the PABX of the house telephone system. Pager storage racks are installed wherever required to store pagers while staff is absent and to recharge the pager batteries. Transmitters, paging server, telephone coupler and storage racks are connected to each other via a simple communication bus consisting of two twisted pairs of wires. The paging server is connected to the hotel s TCP/ IP network and communicates with up to 5 terminal PC s running DP-Client terminal software. Lan Contact inputs from escalators, elevators, emergency doors and other equipment are coupled into the paging server PC for continuous monitoring. The paging system can be interfaced to the fire alarm system, as well as other third party systems, using RS232 protocols. Paging receiver Bosch s lightweight and compact paging receivers, available in two color designs, are both high-performing and sturdy. Pagers are provided with an overload-protected carrying clip, so they stand up to heavy use with no damage to clip or housing. A 10-deep message stack allows storage of 10 messages of up to 48 characters. If two or more identical messages are broadcasted, only the last message will remain in the stack. The stack operates on a First-In-First-Out (FIFO) basis, but allows on-demand message deletion by staff. Paging receivers can also operate using disposable batteries. T/C PABX
