1 Historical Timeline

2 April 2010 Long Beach Island Consolidated School District budget of $6, was defeated. Subsequently, the budget is presented to the mayors of the 5 towns and $410,000. was cut from our budget. The Mayors also asked the district to conduct a feasibility study with reference to consolidation into one school.

3 The State of New Jersey also cut a significant amount of money from our budget A total loss of over $900,000. from the budget. Actual budget - $5, Losses to district included: Librarian, after school busing, shortened swim program, preschool tuition, cafeteria aides, school trips, afterschool activities, intramural sports,

4 Inspections done in August 2010 Study presented to the LBIBOE 11/10/10 Study is accepted by the board 1/25/11

5 9/27/11- BOE unanimously voted to sell the LBI School 10/4/11 & 10/11/11- Sale of LBI Grade School was advertised with a minimum bid of $9.5 million - no bids were received 7/19/11 - Contracted with architectural firm Dicara/Rubino for projected addition to EJ School

6 Many discussions in executive and public sessions regarding the future of the LBI Consolidated School District May 2012 Board advertised again for the sale of the LBI Grade School with a minimum bid of $8.6 million Fall 2012 Board received bid for $7.6 million for the LBI School. 10/29/12 SuperStorm Sandy 11/12/12 EJ School re-opened educating all of our students in this facility. LBI School remained closed due to damage from SuperStorm Sandy.

7 11/20/12 Board approved a contract with LAN Associates for a structural engineering analysis of the LBI School 12/10/12 report from LAN Associates no evidence of any new cracking, settlement, stress, or any other indication of a shifting or settling of the building, or any other structurally-deficient conditions. November/December 2012 Board approved Superintendent to obtain information on temporary classrooms with respect to architectural plans and classroom space.

8 2/7/13 Contracted with Mellon Restoration for storm restoration at LBI School 2/7/13 Contracted with DiCara Rubino Architects for project management of LBI restoration March-June 2013 Many discussions regarding the LBI School restoration, temporary classrooms, LBI School sale, EJ Playground Spring 2013 Extensive delays getting temporary classrooms approved Spring 2013 The BOE is in receipt of several bids for the LB I School ranging from $ million

9 6/18/13 BOE did not accept a letter of intent for a contract to sell the LBI School 6/18/13 BOE authorized DiCara Rubino Architects to develop the plans for the full restoration of the LBI School in order to permit occupancy 7/9/13 BOE approved to suspend the search for potential buyers for the LBI School until after the restoration is complete and the building is reoccupied. 8/27/13 Awarded bid to Shorelands for the facility repairs to the LBI School September EJ School reopened with all students in classrooms awaiting temporary classroom certificate of occupancy.

10 9/30/13 Temporary classrooms opened for grades 3-6 Fall 2013 LBI School restoration ongoing 12/17/13 - Approved updating feasibility study from LAN Associates 3/18/14 LBI School reopens Total cost to the district from SuperStorm Sandy after Insurance and FEMA claims processed - $23, (Fall 2014) April Board is in receipt of bids for the LBI School $ million 8/14/14 Board met with Mayors of the Consolidated District and agreed to meet with Frank Little of Owen Little and Associates to discuss conducting an updated facilities report

11 12/16/14 Contracted with Statistical Forecasting to perform a demographic study/enrollment project to assist in the facilities consolidation decision 12/16/14 Contracted with Owen Little and Associates to perform structural, mechanical, and electrical evaluations of the District s buildings to assist the Board in its facilities consolidation decision January BOE is in receipt of the highest bids to date for the LBI School February 2015 BOE received the Demographic Study 4/13/15 Mayors received a copy of the Owen Little report 4/14/15 BOE received and reviewed the report from Owen Little and Associates

The 2% budget cap on our annual budget - rising costs of salaries, benefits, educational needs, maintenance, etc Questions and Answers April 14, 2015 Two aging buildings that are in need of major repair in the near future.
