8 Pastoralists SSA has greatest share of the world s pastoralists (50 million), but also to the majority of the world s extremely poor pastoralists (54%). Poverty incidence among pastoralists in SSA ranges from 25 to 55 % Pastoralists contribute to nasonal meat producson 41% in E-Africa and 33% in W-Africa Animals are an essensal aspect of the cultural, social and religious life of the people Waste products are important sources of fuel (cooking and heasng) 8
