In the meantime, make sure you visit the Welcome website which has all the information you ll need to plan for your arrival and first few weeks at the University.

We are delighted that you are joining us at this great University and beginning an exciting period of learning and growth in your life, on one of the most beautiful university campuses in the UK, studying and working alongside academic staff who are global experts in their fields. This is a chance for me to welcome and greet you in our historic Great Hall, and for you to learn more about the excellent support and outstanding range of opportunities available to you. 5 Your student ID card As well as proving your student status, your University ID card acts as your library card and as swipe access for many buildings on campus. You may need to have your ID card added to your School or College s swipe card system. Visit if you have any queries about your ID card.

8 Parents information Going to university is a big step for any new student and it can also be a challenging experience for a parent. Our aim is to make your son or daughter feel welcome and help them settle quickly, and we want you to be satisfied that they are joining a safe and supportive environment. The Parents Welcome website at parents has been developed to give you information relevant to this significant time in your son or daughter s life. There is a range of information from preparing in advance to how to help and we hope this will help you now and throughout the academic year. Support for students Whether living in the family home or moving into accommodation, adapting to a new way of learning can sometimes result in students feeling overwhelmed, which is not uncommon in the transition to being an independent adult. There are a range of services available to support students throughout their time at university. This event provides an opportunity to hear from the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education and other speakers about learning and teaching and the wide range of support services and opportunities to get involved in the life of the University.
