Weber (Chair) asked for discussion of the PAR Review Committee document. There will be another PAR in unless a change is made. He raised the question of the committee Does the APCC wish to participate? J. Merrick stated he would like to see the PAR process not be repeated. The APCC should write a memo endorsing the Graduate School s position which states in part: The COR recommends that the positive features of the Program Array Review model be integrated into the already well established review policies and procedures of the Committee on Reviews (for graduate programs) and the Academic Program and Curriculum Committee (for undergraduate reviews), COR and APCC reviews have become increasingly coordinated and integrated, and we want to preserve and extend the practice of the COR in involving outside experts in program assessment. Most
5 important, we wish to propose that new resources be made available to programs under review in order to implement review recommendations. Each year, those programs being reviewed would submit proposals to a faculty committee that would allocate the new resources. The two-year follow-up review would focus on, among other things, the extent to which the deployment of the new resources resulted in changes that met the goals of the recommendations. J. Merrick moved to endorse the Graduate School s response; S. Falco seconded the motion. The motion was UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. 6. New Business: A. Audit and Review of Nursing. B. Kennedy presented the report. J. Merrick moved to approve the report as presented; P. Sands seconded the motion. The report was UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. B. Proposal from the School of Nursing for Changes to the Major in Nursing - web form # S. Falco moved to approve the proposal; J. Ndon seconded the motion. The proposal was UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. C. Proposal from the School of Business Administration and the College of Letters and Science to Establish a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies. J. Merrick moved to approve the proposal; S. Kim seconded the motion. R. Weber (Chair) noted the following concerns regarding the proposal: 1) it is unprecedented because it involves two schools; 2) four additional tracks may need to be treated as new programs because they will involve other schools; 3) there may be a problem because we don t have CARs or a proposal to establish a curricular code. J. Merrick stated he didn t feel not having CARs or a Curricular Area Code was a problem at this time. Many members of the audience spoke in favor of the BAGS program. After much discussion a vote was taken. The motion to approve the proposal was UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. 7. Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 8:50 a.m.
