Install FactoryTalk Service Platform 2. Install RSLinx Enterprise (on the PC that is the data server; RA recommends that the data server is a PC other than the FactoryTalk Historian PC) 3. Install FactoryTalk Historian Server Software TO ADD Data points to the FactoryTalk Historian Server CONFIGURE A FACTORYTALK APPLICATION 4. Open up the FactoryTalk Administration Console 5. Configure a FactoryTalk Application 6. Right click on the FactoryTalk Application -> Add New Server -> Rockwell Automation Device Server (RSLinx Enterprise) On the General tab, go to the text box 'Computer hosting the RSLinx Enterprise Server' {this should be the name of the Data Server}

Double click on Communication Setup, then create a short cut to the controller, click 'Apply', 'OK'.. then go back into the communication setup to verify that the shortcut drill down directly to the controller 9. Click 'OK' VERIFY THAT THE USER THAT IS LOGGED ON THIS HISTORIAN SERVER IS A FTAdministrator 1. Whether you are using Work Groups or Domain, Open up the FactoryTalk Administration Console 2. Drill down to the 'Users' folder 3. Right click the 'User' folder and select 'New' -> 'Windows Linked User', select 'Add', 'From this location' {this should be the name of the Historian Server}, In the box that is displayed 'Enter the object names to select', type the name of the user that is logged into this PC, select 'Check Names'; If the user validates, it will be displayed with an 'Underline'..eg. HistorianServer\Administrator 4. Select 'Ok', Select 'Create' {You've just add this Windows Link User to the FactoryTalk Directory 5. Double click 'User Groups', -> 'FTAdministrator', Select 'Add', Under 'Filter User' choose 'Show users only', Highlight the User, 'OK, 'Apply' CREATE A CONNECTION/INTERFACE TO HISTORIAN SERVER (Do this on the FactoryTalk Historian Server, Open up FactoryTalk Administration Console) 10. Drill down to the 'System' -> 'Connections' folder -> Historical Data, Right Click on this folder, 'New Historian Server Connection' 11. For 'Server of Collective Name' {this should be the name of the Historian Server), Select 'Test Server Connection' button If it displays 'No Server Found', See AID No Server Found OR Unable to open sessions to server with trust only (//rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/46769)' 12. After the Server is Found with a Green Check Mark, Select 'Finish', There's a new screen that is displayed called 'Discover New Historian Points', select 'Cancel' We are going to add only one tag instead of performing the 'Auto Discovery' which discovers all tags 13. Go to the Top of the FactoryTalk Application Console, Right click on the FactoryTalk Application, select 'Add Individual Historian Point' 14. Select 'Browse Tags', Click on the Folder (which is the shortcut), click 'Online' and Choose a Tag 15. Select 'Add Tag to List', e.g. this is what it would look like [ShortCutName]tag, Select 'OK', To close the 'Add Historian Points' select 'OK' TO VIEW THE TAG YOU JUST ADDED, YOU COULD USE EITHER OF THESE TOOLS 1.
