1 SATELLITE DISHES Q: Are satellite dishes permitted in Rainbow Ridge? A: Yes Q: Where are satellite dishes permitted? A: In Exclusive-Use Common Areas (back yard, balcony, or patio deck) and on the Common Area roof. Q: Is an Architectural Approval Application required? A: An Architectural Approval Application is required in any of these five situations: A. You wish to install the satellite dish on the roof B. You will drill a hole through any part of the building or stucco (e.g. to run the cable into your unit) C. Your satellite dish (or any part of its equipment) will extend over your back yard wall or fence, your upstairs balcony, or your upstairs patio deck, and into the Common Area airspace. D. The satellite dish s diameter is E. If mounted on a mast, the mast is > 12 higher than the roofline. Q: Is there a fee? A: There is a $25 fee to install the satellite dish on the roof and/or if a hole will be drilled through any portion of the building or stucco. In these situations, the Association will send its vendor to inspect the roof after installation is completed to ensure the roof has not been damaged and the installation conforms to the requirements set forth in this document. If a hole is drilled through the building or stucco, the Association s vendor will inspect the hole to ensure it has been properly sealed to prevent water intrusion and will perform any minor touch-up painting required. Q: How do I obtain an application? A. An application is attached to this document (last two pages). Q: Is there anything I should show or tell the installer prior to beginning installation? A: Yes! You must show the installer this document before beginning the installation so he knows exactly what is required for you to pass the final inspection by the Architectural Committee. If you fail to do so, your satellite provider will charge you for a second service call to reinstall the dish according to these requirements. Q: Who do I contact with additional questions? 2 REQUIREMENTS FOR SATELLITE DISH ON ROOF 1. Positioned behind chimney so out of sight. Alternate location is center of roof where not visible. 2. Dish must sit inside special roof tray not directly on the roof s surface (see photos below) 3. Nothing including the special roof tray may be bolted into the roof s surface.

5 4. Cable must be routed through roof s drain scupper.

6 Cable must run down the side of the downspout (the side closest to the building) - out of sight. 5. Architectural Committee must be notified when installation is complete so a final inspection may be performed. Save your final inspection approval as proof you complied with all of the installation requirements! (To prevent damage and costly repairs, the roofs will be inspected regularly and any installations without approvals will be removed at the owner s expense.)
