1 Applications Online Applications Dashboard accessed from the Online Forms Action within SEP From this Dashboard you can: Start a New Application Continue an Open Application View Completed Applications The system will not allow you to have more than one Application Type open at a time. 0

2 Navigating the Compensation Benefits Application (Interview) The application is made of modules. Each module consists of pages. As you move through the pages of a module, the pages become links. Once a module is complete, the module becomes a link. 1

3 Navigating the Compensation Benefits Application (Interview) Save & Continue moves you forward in the application Previous takes you back in the application Exit returns you to the Online Application Dashboard 2

4 Applicant Information Module This module contains read-only information about the Veteran. Intent to File and other important information is provided. 3

5 Applicant Information Module All of the informative material from the paper VAF EZ is provided. Detailed FDC information is shown as a bulleted list of links that expand when clicked to show these details. 4

6 Applicant Information Module An alternate address for an exam can be input. 5

7 Applicant Information Module If a different address is chosen, you will be able to provide the address (domestic, international, or military overseas) and the date to begin using that address. 6

8 Applicant Information Module The Homeless Information pages are used to identify Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and to provide a point of contact for the Veteran. 7

9 Applicant Information Module Claimant signature or mark must be provided for: All originals Supplementals, when the Veteran has o No address with VA AND o No ebenefits account You can either: Upload a signature page OR Capture the Claimant Mark and Witness Mark 8

10 Military Service Module Tables displayed within the interview may be pre-populated with information stored in VA databases. In most cases, information may be: Added Edited Deleted 9

13 Disability Records Module Table will pre-populate with rated disabilities, service-connected and not service-connected. Actions that can be taken: Claim a new disability Request an increase Add a secondary disability Reopen a not SC disability 12

19 Treatment Records Module Report treatment records for VA or DoD treatment only. Private treatment records can be uploaded when the user gets to the Supporting Documents module. 18

21 Treatment Records Module After choosing a state, the page will refresh and the Treatment Center field dropdown will display the VAMCs or DoD facilities in that state. If the Veteran receives treatment at a clinic, choose the VAMC with which the clinic is affiliated. 20

23 Special Circumstances Module In this module you can claim any combination of these special circumstances by checking the appropriate box. For items checked, additional information may be provided and gathered in the interview. 22

25 Special Circumstances Module Because we checked Veteran A/A on the previous page (Your Special Circumstances) this additional page will be displayed which gives the criteria for this benefit and asks the user if he/she wants to continue the claim. 24

27 Special Circumstances Module Because we checked the Automobile block on the Your Special Circumstances page three (3) additional pages will be displayed. The first page gives the criteria for the benefit and asks the user if he/she wants to continue the claim. 26

28 Special Circumstances Module This is the second page for the Automobile Allowance. On this page instructional information is provided to the user. 27

29 Special Circumstances Module This last page for the Automobile Allowance asks the questions that are on the VA Form Once this information is completed and the application is submitted the system will generate the VA Form

30 Supporting Documents Module The Supporting Documents module consists of two pages one to download documents and one to upload documents. Based on how the interview has been completed the download page lists documents to support the claim and the ability to download the forms. 29

32 Supporting Documents Module Based on how the interview has been completed the upload page provides the ability to upload documents to support the claim. There will always be an Optional Documents upload option that can be used for any documents the user wants to submit to support the claim. An example would be private treatment records. 31

33 Final Review & Submission Module The system runs a check for errors and warnings. Errors must be corrected to continue the interview. Warnings may or may not require correction. 32

34 Final Review & Submission Module The Final Review page provides a review of everything provided in the interview. You can also review everything in pdf format by clicking the Print Incomplete Form button and opening the 526EZ. 33

35 Final Review & Submission Module A VSO who does not have permission to submit a claim on behalf of the veteran will send the application to be reviewed by a VSO with that permission. 34

36 Final Review & Submission Module The system will display the message that will be sent to the Veteran. The VSO s final step is to click Send for Review. 35
