1 JIM S JOURNAL AUGUST /0 RACE # DEL CIELO SERIOUS TALK BARROWBY HILL FORD NATION DEL CIELO ran better second time out when planted on the early lead; however, she faltered late and took third prize; the runner up has come back to win with a rally; most recently, she went to the Nandi Stakes where she attended the pace but stalled inside; she now competes for $,000; she faces the boys. VOCAL VICAR a debut runner for Laurie Silvera, is by Singing Saint who was represented recently by a keen performer for Stronach Stables; this one worked a half mile July 0 th in. and has since practiced from the gate. FORD NATION an auction purchase, is one of two entered for Ricky Griffith along with Del Cielo; he worked five furlongs July 7 th in.0. and has since had a gate trial August 0 th in 9bg getting ready; Justin Stein has the mount. SERIOUS TALK a debut runner for William Tharrenos, is bred for sped on top by Forestry; he worked July th from the gate in 9.bg and has since had a half mile work in 9 getting ready; Olguin rides with blinkers and lasix in this opener. BARROWBY HILL debuted July th and lacked speed but finished only two lengths out of third behind Passion For Action who has come back with a significantly improved victory and that reflects positively on this one second time out; he now takes a significant class drop now for just $,000. ARCTIC KID a debut runner for John Cardella is by Bold Executive and from the same dam who produced a successful juvenile; he worked a half mile August 9 th in 9. getting ready; Bahen rides; blinkers and lasix are used. RACE # GRANDMA S HOUSE FEISTY KAT 7 KAHLUA S SHOT SAFFRON SKY GRANDMA S HOUSE has had a couple of starts on turf at higher claiming levels and has been on the edges both times; following some time off, she drops substantially to go for $,000; she required a qualifying work August 0 th in 0b to be able to start here. VICHYSSOISE debuted July th and was a factor only early at a low level; she finished eleventh; for this second start, lasix is used. BLUTOPIA debuted at Fort Erie June th and was a distant third and was moving forward; she prepped here July th on the training track in the good time of 7.; she is one of two for Ross Armata along with Vichyssoise. FEISTY KAT a debut runner, is a homebred for Wade R. Heggie by Gilded Time debuting for Stuart Simon; she sharpened from the gate July 7 th in.bg; Olguin has the mount in this six furlong opener. SAFFRON SKY had a June 0 th seasonal bow when plunged for $,000 and was let go at long odds and finished a non threatening fourth; the runner up, Audreys Choice, has come back to win; Da Silva has now been named. AZZIE BAY debuted July 0 th at long odds for just $0,000 and wasn t a factor while going lasix free; for this second start, lasix is added; she has had an interim prep in.; she is a daughter of Sligo Bay going for Dan O Callaghan. KAHLUA S SHOT started a bid belatedly August rd at five furlongs and was unable to gain significantly late in the race; she stretches to six furlongs here; she now competes for a claiming price for the initial time. RACE # AISLE ALTAR HYMN BORN TO BE QUEEN 7 GOLDEN ABBY IRON RING MISS AISLE ALTAR HYMN was able to steal a race July th when plunged for $,000 to take a significant edge; she was able to provide all of the pace and persisted by a half length; most recently, she showed a new technique when shortened to five furlongs; the speed got away from her early and she rallied in time; that race may have some value because of the exploits of the third place finisher who has since won twice including a turf race last weekend; she now gets back in for $,000 and is burdened by the rail position in this event against non winners of three. HEY LOOK AT ME was able to win in the slop at Fort Erie two starts ago but on Poly track here last time, she was last; she has been busy with quick works on the training track getting ready. BORN TO BE QUEEN was in such a tough event August nd and a couple of closers caught up with a strong pacesetter who was third in that event; she faltered to sixth continuing her developing slump; she is without a share in recent events and so now drops for just $,000. LIBERTY HALL picked a tough battle for herself last time trying to run with the eventual third place finisher, Jean s A Lady, who has since won twice; she understandably lost that pace fight; she had run more thorough the time before for $,000 against non winners of two; she seeks her second win in this event which is for non winners of three. IRON RING MISS indicated a decline in form last time for $,000 when chasing the pace then faltering; she makes a shift to journeyman Griffith for hot trainer Don MacRae; blinkers are now added. SEEKING A GLITTER gets her first start since early in the summer time when she was in for $,00 against non winners of three and had a poor result; she has posted ok times in recent training track works getting ready to come off the shelf. GOLDEN ABBY last competed May st and was a distant fourth in the same race where Iron Ring Miss was second; the third place finisher, Canadian Lady, has since easily defeated Seeking A Glitter; two starts ago at this distance, she was quite a thorough second behind a key winner who subsequently repeated; Crawford had earlier success with this one.

2 JIM S JOURNAL AUGUST /0 RACE # a CITIUS ARTEFACTO BET ON JACK JENNA S WABBIT JENNA S WABBIT took some time off and then resurfaced July nd at Fort Erie to get a popular front running victory with Moreno aboard; he competes here at five furlongs which is suitable for him and he is in for just $,000 now as part of a coupling with Citius. CITIUS was inconvenienced in the Shepperton Stakes because the early pace was so slow and the front runner was so strong; he wasn t a factor at any stage in that event slumping in the stretch; he now runs for just $,000; like his entry mate, Jenna s Wabbit, he is an Ontario sire eligible looking for an enriched purse here as part of a million dollar entry. INCREDICAT came off the shelf June th and for $,000, he had sharp attending speed with a half in. but he was not a factor through the stretch and was beaten by a wide margin in the same race where Bet On Jack was third. DEVOTED WILDCAT was introduced here August nd for $,000 and had a good race; the middle pace was heating up and he couldn t protect his advantage deep in the stretch when passed by the top two. RED SHOT found himself farther off the early pace than usual last time but was trying to fight back deep in the race and finished fifth beaten four lengths behind Artefacto; he is one of many on the card today for Ross Armata. BET ON JACK gets his first race since June th when he was in for $0,000 and finished third; he followed the winner around the turn and then was unable to better his position in the stretch; he indicates a work August th on the training track in 9. getting ready. ARTEFACTO was introduced here August st after fifty weeks away and was preferred; he was also made the favourite with a late flow of money; he looped the field as if much the best keeping Dixie Troop in second; he jumps in value here; Campbell will ride for Ricky Griffith. DIXIE TROOP gambled on an inside path opening up August st but finally went between rivals; the winner had more momentum from the outside and beat him a length and a half. RACE # RUNAWAY PEPPER 7 BINKS FOREST HURRICANE ELVIS RENEGADE MAN CANADIAN FLAG is getting his first race since June 9 th when he was far below his best; he has had consecutive works early in August getting ready for Josie Carroll. HURRICANE ELVIS found the turf too firm June st ; with more give to it last time, he ran well but he hung at ten furlongs for $,000 when third; he shortens in distance for this event. RENEGADE MAN made his way back for his seasonal bow July 0 th but he was outrun on Poly track; that race featured a strong late pace; he now shifts to turf, a footing he has indicated a liking for and he worked on the turf recently in.. with Stein aboard; he drops sharply for $,000. RUNAWAY PEPPER was sent here for a race July 9 th and joined the Martin Drexler stable and kept his perfect record on Poly track alive with a sweeping off the pace move; he did well to overcome such slow fractions; he now enters for turf but would be even more of threat if this event came off the lawn. GUIPAGO is without a win in recent times although he has hit the edges occasionally; he was a distant fourth in his latest at a marathon distance on the turf. DUPES had a troubled trip on Poly track two starts ago then hung on turf last time when unable to improve his position. BINKS FOREST is fresh and that counts at this time of year because he was winter raced; he does bring an early and middle speed element to the event and rates consideration; the Michael Wright stable enjoyed a recent success. STOLONBOY will compete only if this event comes off the turf; he is just now gearing up and has had a single start this season and it came on turf and he was a distant sixth; he is a marathon specialist traveling just a mile and a sixteenth here.

3 JIM S JOURNAL AUGUST /0 RACE # TWO STELLAS QUEENSBURY RULES CELTIC KING UNBRIDLED RUCKUS CELTIC KING was at Fort Erie on turf July nd but the top four finishers in that race were all coming out of Woodbine races including the even money winner who dominated the pace; he finally finished fifth; this will be his first start on Poly track. KING DYAL was unable to keep up here two starts ago for $7,00; he went to Fort Erie to campaign on turf last time; he had a booming run with some turn speed to get into contention and offered a generous enough stretch approach; he will now take a different tact and go long on Poly track. QUEENSBURY RULES has had three consecutive good events with apprentice Bray aboard; Ramsammy will take over here and has some history with this one; this will be his thirty third lifetime start and he does have twenty shares and is likely to run well again here. UNBRIDLED RUCKUS had a good race two starts ago at six furlongs when staying on nicely to be third; most recently, he tried a quick comeback and was behind early then was used inside from the second flight and went flat; he now goes in a route and had some earlier exposure to two turn racing. BARLEE ON TAP has not been a factor in short distance races to date; he is bred to be a stayer by Milwaukee Brew and will get his first route test here. TWO STELLAS is bred to be a route runner; his second start of this campaign came with a significant plunge for $9,00 but he didn t do much running there; he is hopeful the move out to a two turn race will be the answer; Da Silva has been enlisted. RACE #7 RAGING MANE CHIEF S EDGE RICH DADDY GUEST STARRING RICH DADDY competed against several of these on turf at a half furlong shorter last time and did well to race on the pace and finish three wide on the wire with the winner on the fence and Raging Mane closing quickly between rivals; it was his second good race in a row on turf with Wilson aboard; she retains the mount for Paul Attard. MATTANGEL made a move from four wide in the second flight last time and advanced to be a close fourth for just $,00 against non winners of two while on Poly track; he is jumping in value for this chance to try turf and has two shares on the grass in three lifetime appearances. MR GRUMPY was out of the money on turf July th when coming off the shelf; most recently, he dropped, shortened in distance, moved to Poly track and added blinkers and won for $,000 while taking sharp support. RAGING MANE carried his positive Poly track form over to turf July 0 th when resurfacing as a gelding; he was doing the best running deep in the stretch and finished second beaten a nose to the front runner, Holy Whirl Wind while rushing between rivals and Rich Daddy was on his outside; the extra distance favours him; Campbell now rides for John Mattine. GUEST STARRING was stalling on Poly track but when he moved over to turf July 0 th, his discovery of that footing produced his best race of the year; he made a move outside and closed willingly to be fourth beaten about three lengths by the fast closing runner up, Raging Mane. CHIEF S EDGE looked like a cinch to win in the stretch July st at a mile on turf and he edged by the leader to get the top spot; he was entered to compete against several of these on July 0 th but scratched and will go here instead as one of two in the race for Paul Attard. WANDOBOYSLEW competed against several of these July 0 th and made his move but hung and finished fifth while Raging Mane was second. BIG DADDY BILL will compete only if this event is on Poly track; he was third on that surface for just $7,00 at a route last time; his inability to get out of the gate properly was costly; he lunged to his right and then advanced from ninth to be beaten only two lengths.

4 JIM S JOURNAL AUGUST /0 RACE # ENHANCED - BEST BET STRIKING IMPACT SLIPPER STILL FITS BONITA LUNA ENHANCED debuted last October at Churchill Downs and was not a factor; she had a July th return to action here when discovering Poly track and she ran quite well in second behind a front running winner who was heavily favoured; in third was Bonita Luna; the distance is now lengthened to seven furlongs; she has had an interim prep August 0 th in 9.. GANANOQUE raced well on Poly track two starts ago against a key winner and finished third and galloped out strongly so the distance looks to be favourable for her; most recently, she was far back on turf against one of the more significant debut winners of the meeting; she has been freshened and has prepped recently on both Poly track and the training track. LONDON CHIMES travelled well on the turn last time as if she would have some impact in the stretch but she had just a mild approach and was unplaced for the second time; she is now a second time lasix user and will be moving to Poly track for the initial time; she had a recent work on that footing in.. STRIKING IMPACT is new to Woodbine and is one of two entered for the Casse stable along with Enhanced; she campaigned earlier at Keeneland in a key race and finished fifth when debuting and the first place finisher is now a stakes winner; she subsequently faced key company in two races at Churchill Downs without producing; this will be her first start since June 9 th and Boulanger has been named; she has had two local works; her dam has produced a couple of stakes winners. SLIPPER STILL FITS raced well enough on Poly track two starts ago when third behind a key winner; she committed to a speed approach on that occasion; she has since been out of the money on turf; the eleventh place finisher from her latest, has since won; she is back on Poly track now with a chance to utilize her speed with Campbell aboard;. BONITA LUNA can be a speed factor here; when she debuted as a four year old in late July against Enhanced; she fought on the pace and then was finally a length and a half behind that runner up and settled for third prize; she will now be stretching to seven furlongs; she starts outside. RACE #9 CHOCOLATE RIDE 7 FREE TO DANCE 9 CUPPA JOE ARCH PEARL CLASSY KID has been here for a couple of ok turf races when on the edges; two starts ago, he was third and one position behind Cuppa Joe who is here; most recently, he sat behind runners in hopes of concentrating his stretch kick but he was finally fifth of eight. SUPREME COMMANDER will compete only if this event goes on Poly track, a footing he has yet to try; he moves from the John Shirreffs stable to that of Sid Attard and has been training locally for an extended time. CHRIS BREW a Ontario sire runner, was starting for the second time ever in July and had significant improvement and that was fully expected given his pedigree and size; he went a route on Poly track and advanced from thirteenth to be fourth; he has also trained on turf in preparation for this open race; his dam did produce the turf loving Why Katherine, a four time turf winner. CHOCOLATE RIDE a significant auction purchase, goes for Mark Casse; he showed potential last October at Keeneland in a nine furlong event on Poly track where he was beaten only late; he is a half brother to Killer Graces, a Grade winner in California; he is now introduced to the lawn; he worked here August 9 th in.00. going in company; Boulanger who was aboard for his debut here last September, has the mount. JOHNNY BEAR is a loping type stayer who made a good middle move in a ten furlong event last time but was finally fifth against Breeders Stakes hopefuls who were in the top positions; he shortens back in distance for this third consecutive try on turf. CLEARLY READY stretched from six furlongs to a mile and got into a claiming event last time but was only sixth of nine on the lawn; he goes farther here. FLYWIRE looks to be a stamina source who seems to be coming to hand; he was fourth in his latest against a key winner while Quiet Country was better in third; a more proficient departure from the gate is essential. FREE TO DANCE a well bred individual for Sam-Son Farm, got onto the local turf course June th and had a career best performance when third beaten a length and a half by Lafontaine, a subsequent stakes winner; in second in that last event was a stable mate, Clearer View; he has been given more time and indicates two recent turf works getting ready for Malcolm Pierce. ARCH PEARL goes for Conor Murphy who has enjoyed local success; this one has Irish racing experience; he has started three times in North America including a race on grass May th at Churchill Downs where he was third to a Mark Casse trained favourite. CUPPA JOE had a big change in form in his second lifetime start which came here on turf July st when he was returning as a gelding; he was second best and responded gamely to the winner Chief s Edge who was entered for $0,000 in race seven; Olguin was aboard for his latest work on turf in.00. for Brian Lynch. INDIAN GUIDE has been around the edges on Poly track; he then switched to turf July th and at seven furlongs he had a mild outside move to be third and the runner up has come back to win; he now extends to a longer distance. QUIET COUNTRY had a mishap at the gate on turf July st ; he did add lasix and move to Poly track at a route last time where he ran willingly on the pace and was finally third; he will compete only if this event comes off the lawn.
