AFTER LIFE COMMUNICATION PLAN LIFE09 ENV/IT/000068
1 ABSTRACT The project WASTELESS IN CHIANTI has developed a pilot experience of success for the effective implementation and monitoring of an integrated strategy for waste prevention and sustainable waste management in a local community. The After LIFE Communication Plan sets out how the partners plan to give continuation to the dissemination and communication of the WASTELESS IN CHIANTI results after the end of the project, at no additional costs. The Plan foresees, on the one hand, the dissemination of tools and resources developed in the project and the communication of the results achieved through the continuous information and, on the other hand, the continuation and further development of some of the actions carried out within the project, in the pilot area of Florentine Chianti. In detail, the actions are described in the following paragraphs. 2 ACTIONS 2.1 ACTION 1: Maintenance of the actions in the pilot area OBJECTIVE: maintain the activities realized in the Municipalities involved in the project. DESCRIPTION: after the end of the project, in the pilot area, the following activities will be maintained and further developed in the Municipalities, in cooperation with Quadrifoglio as per its responsibilities as waste management utility in the pilot area: 1. implementation of waste collection services according to the new waste collection schemes and regulatory framework defined within the project; 2. implementation of the new regulations for the assimilation of waste from commercial/business customers in municipal waste; 3. implementation of municipal regulations for the sustainable management of fairs and public events; 4. implementation of the "waste less" label for shops, cafés and restaurants, schools, offices, tourism facilities; 5. management of the Reuse Centre in the municipality of San Casciano in Val di Pesa; 6. realization of the periodic re use markets "empty the attic"; 7. implementation of green purchasing procedures by municipalities; 8. maintenance of the public water dispensers installed in the schools; 9. promotion of home composting, compost distribution and information/control of the correct application of home composting and use of compost. 2.2 ACTION 2: Maintenance of the project web site OBJECTIVE: allow other contexts to replicate the experience WASTELESS in Chianti and in general to the stakeholders to be able to download the deliverables or other materials realized in the project and request information. VERS: 01 DATA: 30/12/2013 PAGINA: 2 di 6
DESCRIPTION: The web site will continue to be the main tool for the dissemination of the project results and will be kept active for at least 5 years after the end of the project. At the conclusion of the project, the site was reviewed by making the following major changes: Inclusion on the homepage of the video abuot the actions and results of the project; Reorganization of the section "documents" in order to facilitate the consultation of the materials and tools implemented under the project; Introduction of a section summarizing the results achieved against the targets set (reduction of total and per capita waste, increase of selective collection, waste reduction of unsorted waste, both for the year of reference used in the project 2007 both compared to the year of start of the project 2010) The website, in the "news" section, will be regularly updated with all the events related to the content of the project WASTELESS IN CHIANTI and interventions focused on the issues of the project. Any presentations produced by the partners of the project will be available on the web site. Even the link to the web site on the home page of the partners web sites will be kept active. 2.3 ACTION 3: Maintenance of the e mail info@wasteless in chianti.it OBJECTIVE: enable stakeholders, both in the pilot area of Chianti, both at national and European level, to request information and clarifications regarding the actions and results of the project. DESCRIPTION: the e mail address will be kept active for at least 5 years after the end of the project and Ambiente Italia will be responsible for controlling and responding to the requests or forward them to the project partners to which the requests are directed. 2.4 ACTION 4: Dissemination of the project results in events or publications OBJECTIVE: continue the dissemination of the project results and of the ongoing activities in the pilot area. DESCRIPTION: partners will continue to participate in local, national and European events; some of the events already identified where project results and tools will be presented are: - Press Conference, Florence, June 2014 (organized by the Province of Florence) - European Waste Management day, Sofia, 5 7 Marzo 2014 (event organized by ACR+ and ENEP); - ACR+ 20th anniversary, EWWR Awards and General Assembly, Roma, Maggio 2014 (iniziativa organizzata da ACR+); - Ecomondo Trade Fair, Rimini, November 2014 (events organized in cooperation with the projects MED Zero Waste Pro and LIFE+ NO.WA). Publications will also realized, aimed at the dissemination of results (articles in the local, regional or national press, news in other projects or organizations newsletters that deal with waste prevention and sustainable waste management). 2.5 ACTION 5: Participation to networking meetings with other EU projects about waste prevention OBJECTIVE: continue the networking activity started during the project implementation. VERS: 01 DATA: 30/12/2013 PAGINA: 3 di 6
DESCRIPTION: during the implementation of the project, particularly in the last year of operation, the project partners have set up and maintained contacts with other projects on the topic of waste prevention and sustainable waste management co financed by the European Commission in order to facilitate the exchange of good practices. In particular, the partner Ambiente Italia took part in the networking meetings organized as part of the LIFE+ projects NO.WA (leader: Municipality of Reggio Emilia) and LOWASTE (leader: Municipality of Ferrara) in 2013, which led to the preparation of a regulatory petition on the issue of waste, targeted to the representatives of national institutions, aimed to highlight the main regulatory barriers that have limited the scope and results of the actions in the field of waste prevention. The text of the petition is available here: in chianti.it/azioni/appello_normativo_sui_rifiuti/13.aspx The petition has been subscribed so far by: - Associazione Coordinamento Agende 21 Locali Italiane: - LIFE+ LOWaste: - LIFE+ ECO Courts: ecocourts.it/; - LIFE+ IDENTIS WEEE: - LIFE+ NO.Waste: - LIFE+ NOW No more Organic Waste: - LIFE+ Prisca: - LIFE+ Promise: - LIFE+ Wasteless in Chianti: in chianti.it/; - Maritime IT FR RES MAR, Azione D (Elba Plastic Free): - Rete Operatori Nazionale dell Usato: - Occhio del riciclone: After the end of the project, Ambiente Italia will continue to attend meetings and initiatives of the network that has been created in order to offer its own contribution to overcome the barriers identified and highlighted in the petition. 2.6 ACTION 6: Capitalization of the project results within the activities fo the project MED Capitalization Zero Waste PRO OBJECTIVE: capitalizing the project results. DESCRIPTION: the WASTELESS in Chianti project has been selected as a good practice to be capitalized within the MED Capitalization project Zero Waste Pro, which started in July 2013 and aims to capitalize the methodologies and tools developed in the framework of projects cofinanced by the European Commission on the issue of waste management at local and regional scales. The project, funded by the European Territorial Cooperation MED and national resources, will end in December Partners of the project: - EGTC Efxini Poli Network of European Cities for Sustainable Development (Capofila), Grecia; - Ecological Recycling Society, Grecia; - Svi Med, Euro Mediterranean Center for Sustainable Development, Ragusa, Italia; - Ambiente Italia srl, Italia; VERS: 01 DATA: 30/12/2013 PAGINA: 4 di 6
- Research Centre Bistra Ptuj, Slovenia; - Regione Marche, Italia; - FAMCP, Federation of Regions, Municipalities and Provinces of Aragon, Spagna; - Municipality of Bedekovčina, Croazia; - SERDA, Sarajevo Economic Regional Development Agency, Bosnia e Herzegovina; - Chamber of Commerce of Marseille, Francia; - WasteServ, Malta. As part of the project, communication tools will be implemented and dissemination initiatives will be organized in all partner countries, which will also contribute to the dissemination of the actions and the results achieved through the WASTELESS in Chianti project. Information about the projects are available here: PRO ACTION 7: Capitalization of the project results in new projects OBJECTIVE: capitalizing project results. DESCRIPTION: The partners will seek to prepare collaborative projects at national and European level to capitalize the results of the project, to be carried out mainly in the areas where the performance of the waste management services are far from reaching the objectives set by the European and national legislation. 3 MONITORING OF FUTURE ACTIONS With the aim to monitor the effectiveness of actions undertaken as part of the project has been developed a system of detection and evaluation of the results achieved thanks to the implementation of different types of actions. The collection and processing of the monitoring data is done through a specific online portal ( in chianti.it), which on one hand allows registered users (project partners and stakeholders involved in the waste less label) to upload the input data needed for the calculation of the monitoring parameters, on the other hand allows the public to view the results. In order to continue the monitoring of the actions undertaken in the pilot area, the monitoring portal will be kept active even after the end of the project, managed by Ambiente Italia, in cooperation with the Municipalities and Quadrifoglio that will periodically provide the input data required for the update of the monitoring parameters. The structure and mode of operation of the portal are described in the project deliverable "After Life Evaluation Program," which sets out in detail the responsibilities and update times of the various parameters.
