Loletta Chu Lo s First Solo Charity Photo Exhibition and Auction in Support of Seeing is Believing Hong Kong 27 th January, The Standard Chartered Private Bank joins forces with noted local passionate photographer and former Miss Hong Kong, Mrs. Loletta Chu Lo, to host a charity photo exhibition and auction called Beautiful Nature. Blessed Sight. aimed at raising funds to help ORBIS tackle avoidable blindness in China. It is about granting the precious gift of sight to the needy, so they, too, can enjoy the innate strength of a clear vision. The campaign sees Loletta generously donate 40 of her photographic works for exhibition and auction. Celebrating the beauty of Nature, Loletta s photographs perfectly mirror the Seeing is Believing initiative s aim of saving or restoring the eyesight of Mainland Chinese citizens afflicted with curable eye diseases. Loletta has a passion to capture the beauty of Nature and through this campaign she hopes to share her passion of appreciating Nature s precious gifts with donors and beneficiaries alike. Loletta adds, Seeing is Believing has long been an important initiative of Standard Chartered with excellent track record, I agree with the bank that with wealth comes responsibility. This charity programme serves as an effective and trustworthy platform for me to share my photos with the public. I am aware of the fragility of Nature and the need to conserve and safeguard our planet. I am also aware of the need to help those with deprived sight and to educate the young with eye care. By raising funds for this cause we hope to restore as many people s eyesight as possible and hence transforming their lives and that of their families. Granting sight is a gift of compassion, your generosity will make this world a better place. Donations to Seeing is Believing make twice the difference to the lives of real people - for every dollar donated, the bank will match the contribution, this is the Principle, meaning that the bank will double the impact of the donation. The reserve price for each photograph is HK$38,000. 2 Following the auction, Loletta s photographic works will be displayed for public viewing in an exhibition at Park Court, Level 1, Pacific Place from 10 th 16 th March, By appreciating the fragility of Nature through Loletta s compassionate eyes, The Standard Chartered Private Bank hopes to expand the conjoined forces among the bank, Loletta and the wider community to make a difference and transform the lives of many preventably blind people and their families. Furthermore, a limited edition commemorative book with all of the 40 photographs will also be available for charity sale at the exhibition and upon request at $520 each (this amount can pay for a two-eye cataract operation for an adult). 5 Seeing is Believing Standard Chartered, in collaboration with leading eye care agencies, launched Seeing is Believing the global fundraising campaign, with the aim of eye restoration and eye care education in developing countries. Seeing is Believing was launched in 2003 to celebrate Standard Chartered Bank s 150 th anniversary. Since then, Seeing is Believing has raised over US$ 17 million and impacted over 11 million people across 20 countries. Our latest commitment is to raise a further US$ 20 million by 2014 to develop comprehensive, sustainable eye care for 20 million people in the underprivileged areas of 20 cities across the world.
