VACANCY JKUAT seeks to recruit a suitable candidate to fill the following positions in the College of Engineering and Technology. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY 1. DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL, CONSTRUCTION AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING i. SENIOR LECTURER- GRADE 13 REF: JKU/ACA/CCEE/SL/1/1/15 The candidate must have a PhD in Civil Engineering, in any of the following areas of specialization; Highways, Structural, and Geotechnical or Water Engineering, plus at least three years of teaching/research as a University lecturer or research fellow. In addition, the candidate must have at least 3 publications in refereed journals or one university level book since his/her last promotion/appointment. The candidate must also demonstrate ability to supervise postgraduate students. ii. LECTURER - GRADE 12 REF: JKU/ACA/CCEE/L/2/1/15 The candidate must have a PhD in Civil Engineering, in any of the following areas of specialization; Highways, Structural, and Geotechnical or Water Engineering. Those with a Masters degree in Civil Engineering plus six (6) years of university teaching/research as Assistant Lecturer and at least three publications in referred journals will also be considered. Applicants registered by Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) or any other recognized Professional Engineers registration body will have an added advantage. 2. DEPARTMENT OF GEOMATIC ENGINEERING AND GEOSPATIAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GEGIS) i. SENIOR LECTURER GRADE 13 - REF: JKU/ACA/GEGIS/SL/1/1/15 The candidate must have a PhD in Geomatic Engineering, Surveying, Photogrammetry, GIS, Remote Sensing or Geodesy plus at least three years of teaching and research as a University lecturer. The candidate must also have published at least three papers in peer refereed journals since their last appointment as Lecturers. Applicants registered with the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK) or any other recognized Professional registration body will

LECTURER GRADE 12 - REF: JKU/ACA/GEGIS/L/2/1/15 The candidate must have a PhD in Geomatic Engineering, Surveying, Photogrammetry, GIS, Remote Sensing or Geodesy plus at least three years of teaching/research as an Assistant Lecturer or Tutorial Fellow. Candidates with a Masters degree shall be considered for appointment to this grade provided that they have six (6) years University teaching experience as Assistant Lecturer and must have published extensively in refereed journals. Applicants registered with the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK) or any other recognized Professional registration body will. 3. DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING i. SENIOR LECTURER GRADE 13 REF: JKU/ACA/EEE/SL/1/1/15 The candidate must have a PhD Electrical Engineering in any of the following areas of specialization: Control Engineering, Electrical Machines, Electrical Power Systems or Electronics, plus at least three years of teaching/research experience as a Lecturer or Research fellow. In addition, the candidate must have at least 3 publications in refereed journals or one university level book since his/her last promotion/appointment. The candidate must also demonstrate ability to supervise postgraduate students. ii. LECTURER - Grade 12 REF: JKU/ACA/EEE/L/2/1/15 The candidate must have a PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent in any of the following areas of specialization: Control Engineering, Electrical Machines, Electrical Power Systems, Electronics. Those with a Masters degree in Electrical, or equivalent, plus six years of University teaching/research as Assistant Lecturer and at least three publications in referred journals will also be considered. SENIOR LECTURER GRADE 13 REF: JKU/ACA/TIE/SL/1/1/15 The candidate, in addition to Masters and Bachelors degrees in Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent, must have a PhD in Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent in any of the following areas of specialization; Wireless Communication, Applied Electromagnetics or Signal Processing. Additionally, the applicant must have at least three years of teaching/research at University as a Lecturer/Research Fellow. In addition, the candidate must have at least 3 publications in refereed journals or one university level book since his/her last promotion/appointment. The candidate must also demonstrate ability to supervise postgraduate students.. ii. LECTURER GRADE 12 REF: JKU/ACA/TIE/L/2/1/15 The candidate, in addition to Masters and Bachelors degrees in Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent, must have a PhD in Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent in any of the following areas of specialization; Wireless Communication, Applied Electromagnetics or Signal Processing. SENIOR LECTURER Grade 13 REF: JKU/ACA/ME/SL/1/1/15 The candidate must have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (with a bias towards any of the following areas: Fluids and Thermodynamics or Engineering Design and Production or Automotive Engineering), PhD Aerospace Engineering plus at least 3 years of teaching/research at a university as a Lecturer/Research fellow. In addition, the candidate must have at least 3 publications in refereed journals or one university level book since his/her last promotion/appointment. The candidate must also demonstrate ability to supervise postgraduate students. In exceptional cases candidates with a Masters degree in this field shall be considered for appointment to this grade provided that they ii. In addition, the candidate must have at least three publications in referred journals or one university level book since his/her last appointment/promotion as a Lecturer. The candidate must also demonstrate ability to supervise postgraduate students. In exceptional cases, candidates with a Masters degree shall be considered for appointment to this grade provided that they have three years university teaching as Lecturer and must have published at least six publications in refereed journals. ii. SENIOR LECTURER - GRADE REF: JKU/ACA/BEED/SL/1/1/15 Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree from a recognized university with specialization in any of the following areas: Process and Food Engineering, Postharvest

4 Technology, Farm Power and Machinery, Agricultural processing Engineering, Chemical/biochemical Engineering, Bio-processing Engineering, Production Structures Engineering, Energy Engineering, Soil and Water engineering, Soil Mechanics, Environmental Engineering, GIS and Remote Sensing, Hydrogeology, Hydro-informatics, Irrigation Engineering or any other related field, plus at least three (3) years of full time teaching/research at a recognized university as lecturer or research fellow. In addition, the candidate must have at least three publications in referred journals or one university level book since his/her last appointment/promotion as a Lecturer. The candidate must also demonstrate ability to supervise postgraduate students. In exceptional cases, candidates with a Masters degree in these fields shall be considered for appointment to this grade provided that they have 3 years university teaching as Lecturer and must have published 6 papers in peer refereed journals since last appointment and Applicants registered by Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) or any other recognized Professional Engineers registration body will ii. LECTURER GRADE 12 REF: JKU/ACA/BEED/L/2/1/15 The candidate must have a Ph.D in Engineering from a recognized university with specialization any of the following areas: Chemical/biochemical engineering, Process and Food Engineering, Postharvest Technology, Farm Power and Machinery, Agricultural processing Engineering, Bio-processing Engineering, Production Structures Engineering, Energy Engineering, Soil and Water engineering, Soil Mechanics, Environmental Engineering, GIS and Remote Sensing, Hydrogeology, Hydro-informatics, Irrigation Engineering or any other related field. In exceptional cases, Candidates with a Masters degree shall be considered for appointment to this grade provided that they have six (6) years University teaching experience as Assistant Lecturer and must have published extensively in refereed journals. 8. DEPARTMENT OF MARINE ENGINEERING AND MARITIME OPERATIONS i. SENIOR LECTURER GRADE 13 REF: JKU/ACA/MEMO/SL/1/1/15 Applicants should possess a PhD in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or equivalent from a recognized University, plus at least three (3) years of full time teaching/research at a recognized university as lecturer or research fellow. In addition, the candidate must have at least 3 publications in refereed journals or one university level book since his/her last promotion/appointment. The candidate must also demonstrate ability to supervise postgraduate students. ii. LECTURER GRADE 12 REF: JKU/ACA/MEMO/L/2/1/15 Applicants should possess a PhD in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or equivalent from a recognized University. In exceptional cases, Candidates with a Masters degree shall be considered for appointment to this grade provided that they have six (6) years University teaching experience as Assistant Lecturer and must have published extensively in refereed journals, or they have attained the level of 2 nd Engineer or Chief Engineer aboard a vessel. 9. DEPARTMENT OF MINING, MATERIALS AND PETROLEUM ENGINEERING i. SENIOR LECTURER GRADE 13 REF: JKU/ACA/MEPE/SL/1/1/15 Applicants should possess a PhD in any of the following areas: Mining, Mineral Processing Engineering, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or equivalent, from a recognized University. In addition, the candidate must have at least 3 publications in refereed journals or one university level book since his/her last promotion/appointment. The candidate must also demonstrate ability to supervise postgraduate students. showed evidence of

LECTURER- GRADE 12 REF: JKU/ACAD/MEPE/L/2/1/15 Applicants should possess a PhD in any of the following areas: Mining, Mineral Processing Engineering, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or equivalent, from a recognized University. In exceptional cases, Candidates with a Masters degree shall be considered for appointment to this grade provided that they have six (6) years University teaching experience as Assistant Lecturer and must have published extensively in refereed journals.
