1 Pilot Reference Material Sim 6 Introduction: Cyclic 6 represents the final exercise in the inaugural Skywest F100 Cyclic Program. Once we commence the Cyclic 6 sessions our thoughts will turn to the design and construction of the next 3 year Cyclic Program. As such I encourage you to contact either myself or Charlie Grubb with any thoughts or suggestions that you may have in relations to improvements that could be made to the concepts and the conduct of the program in general. Once the final crews complete Cyclic 6 we will be publishing the (de-identified) results of the 3 year program. Following a review of the Cyclic 5 results we have modified the cyclic 6 program to ensure that we focus on areas that have been identified as requiring overall attention. The recurrent training element of Cyclic 5 proved valuable with a lot of feedback from crews and checking staff alike as to the benefits of this training. Whilst we intend on continuing this concept the training element of Cyclic 6 contains a Line Orientated Flight Training Exercise as well as a short manoeuvre based training sequence in Windshear and Rejected Take off. The review of the LOA in Cyclic 5 indicated that during the arrival phase of flight (following the management of a failure) breakdowns in Situational Awareness contributed to errors. The Attached CD/DVD contains a Video presentation on Situational Awareness produced by Jim Williams in conjunction with Charlie Grubb. Please review this material as the concepts highlighted will be used throughout the LOFT briefing and exercise. Additionally, we have included on the CD a Weather Radar Training program produced by Archie Trammell. The objective of this program is to provide crews with a program of training in weather radar theory concepts that can be applied to the use of Radar in our operations. As always if you have any questions regarding the Cyclic 6 process of information please do not hesitate to contact either Charlie Grubb or myself directly. Regards, Sean Collier Head of Training and Checking Flight Crew Check Guide Cyclic 6 Pilot Reference Material Page 1

Statement Strongly Agree Agree Disagree Strongly Disagree The preparation material gave me sufficient guidance to prepare for the exercise. The pre-brief / Questioning component was conducted as I expected. The training exercises covered material that I considered valuable. My preparation for the Manoeuvre Based sequence exercises were appropriate to the level that I encountered during the exercise. The Line Orientated Assessment presented me with a realistic and challenging exercise. The Exercises were conducted as detailed by the Flight Crew Check guide. The assessment grading given to me reflected my own self assessment.
