As your new neighbor I would like to thank you for deciding to become a part of our wonderful community. Alcoholics Anonymous (P) Atlanta Care Center 1718 Peachtree Street, Suite 496 (P) Hotline: CARE National Hotline: HELP Mon - Thurs 9:30 AM 5 PM Sat 9:30 AM 1 PM The Atlanta Care Center helps women facing unplanned pregnancies. The Center provides free medical quality pregnancy tests, as well helps explain to you every option you have if you really are pregnant. All services are confidential and free of charge. Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency 75 Peachtree Place NW (P) AM to 12PM Walk-In Services 2 PM to 4 PM By Appointment Only The ACSS transforms lives by helping homeless men and women gain self-sufficiency through personalized employment readiness and life-stabilization programs. Programs and services include: Café 458, a life stabilization program; the EDGE an employment readiness program; Community Voic , as well as the Clean Street Team. Café 458 (Life Stabilization Program) (P) The EDGE (Employment Readiness Program)/Clean Street Team (P) Atlanta City Integrity Line Number (P) Calls are answered by an independent hotline provider, which increases confidentiality and neutrality. Callers are issued a case number and, within 24 hours, a written report is sent to the City where the case is assigned to an ethics, audit, or compliance investigator. Appropriate hotline complaints include theft and fraud; accounting and audit irregularities; misuse of city property; inappropriate gifts and gratuities; improper dealings with customers and vendors; illegal harassment and discrimination; and threats or violence. 1 South Atlanta Resource Manual//

Lowery Blvd. NW, Atlanta, GA The ACFB Community Garden Initiative assists predominately low-income neighborhoods with planning and organizing community gardens. Atlanta Crystal Meth Anonymous atlantacma.org Crystal Meth Anonymous is a fellowship of people for whom crystal meth has become a serious problem. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stay clean and lead a sober life. There are no dues or membership lists; each group is self-supporting through its own contributions. The members of Crystal Meth Anonymous meet regularly to share support and fellowship, and create a safe environment to stay clean. The fellowship advocates complete abstinence from crystal meth, alcohol, inhalants, as well as all other mind-altering substances. Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System Instructional Learning Center 1 Margaret Mitchell Square (P) Mon Thurs 9AM to 8PM The Atlanta-Fulton Central Public Library provides study materials, free registration booklets, language, literacy & ESL services, computer classes, and GED classes in its Instructional Learning Center. Adults, who need help learning how to read, are matched with volunteer tutors. Instructional Learning Center Location: 4th Floor of Central Library (P) Atlanta Habitat for Humanity/ReStore 519 Memorial Drive SE (P) Office hours Mon - Fri 8:30AM to 5PM ReStore hours Tues-Sat 9AM to 4PM The ReStore sells quality new building materials, tools, hardware, fixtures, and various other home renovation supplies. 8 A// Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition 472 Paines Avenue NW (P) The Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition, Inc. is a Prevention and Wellness organization. Our mission is to empower adults currently engaged in high-risk lifestyles. This includes those who are active or chronic relapse substance users, alcoholics, sex workers and/or homeless. They provide them with choices to make safer life decisions. Atlanta Job Corps Center 239 W. Lake Avenue NW, Atlanta, Georgia (P) (P) atlanta.jobcorps.gov A free education and career training program for people between the ages of to learn career skills, earn their high school diploma or GED, and gain the confidence necessary to begin a successful career. Individuals can apply online to participate with Job Corps. Ninety percent of students enrolled in Job Corps are residential students. Each of the 19 centers in the Atlanta Region provides dorms on campus, and students live with roommates. Atlanta Legal Aid Society 151 Spring Street, NW (P) The Atlanta Legal Aid Society works to help their clients deal with some of life s most basic needs a safe home, enough food to eat, a decent education, protection against fraud, and personal safety. They provide representation in civil (non-criminal) matters. Atlanta Micro Fund Lang-Carson Community Center, 100 Flat Shoals Avenue (P) The Atlanta Micro Fund (AMF) provides funding and business management assistance to micro businesses located in metropolitan Atlanta. The organization operates a micro loan, Individual Development Account (IDA), and business management assistance program. Atlanta Pregnancy Resource Center 3983 LaVista Road, Suite 108, Tucker, Georgia HELP atlantapregnancy@bellsouth.net Atlanta Pregnancy Resource Center seeks to serve and care for women and families in pregnancy-related circumstances. 9 consultation with trained volunteers regarding pregnancy options, post-abortion recovery and support, material assistance and resources, emotional support throughout the pregnancy, as well as healthcare referrals that support life. Atlanta Public Schools Atlanta Public Schools Board of Education (P) Atlanta Public Schools System Directory Information (P) Atlanta Public Schools Family Involvement Center 130 Trinity Avenue, SW (P) A// The Atlanta Public Schools Family Involvement Center (FIC) helps parents to enhance parenting skills and encourages active involvement in their child s education through the following services: counseling, social work, psychological and health services. The FIC assists parents with challenges in the following areas: health, alcohol/drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, family crisis intervention, and underachieving students. The Family Involvement Center offers Wonderful Wednesday Workshops each month at the Howard Building. The one-hour workshops are conducted by FIC staff or leading consultants in the field, and begin at 11 a.m. Topics of particular interest to parents are presented over a light lunch. The FIC also holds parent workshops in the schools. Announcements will be sent out about seminars to be held in your area. If you need help, call the Family Involvement Center. Atlanta Public Schools - Homework Hotline (P) Homework Hotline is available Monday through Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., except during holiday and semester breaks. The Homework Hotline service is FREE. Before calling, you should have the following items: Textbook (if available) Homework assignment Paper Pen or pencil Calculator (if needed) Information you ll need... 10 A// Atlanta Mission (P) The Atlanta Mission runs substance abuse recovery programs, offering residential care to hundreds of men, women, and women with children free to those in need. Programs are faith-based. The average stay is 18 months. The Shepherd s Inn (P) The Shepherd s Inn provides emergency shelter for men. Guests of the shelter are provided hot showers, clean clothes, nutritious food and a safe place to sleep. Guests also have access to social workers who make referrals to community resources for those seeking health care, addiction recovery or job health. The Potter s House (Northeast Georgia Campus) (P) , ex 5103 The Potter s House is a Christ-centered, Bible-based residential recovery program for chemically addicted men who express a sincere willingness to change. My Sister s House 921 Howell Mill Road NW, Atlanta, Georgia (P) My Sister s House is a Christian crisis emergency shelter and long-term residential recovery program for women suffering with addiction issues, alcohol & drugs, codependency, as well as for women fleeing abusive relationships. It also serves as a therapeutic child development center for the children of women residing at My Sister s House. Fuqua Hall (P) Fuqua Hall offers affordable, transitional housing for men who have completed Atlanta Mission Shelter or Recovery Programs. Fuqua Hall consists of 92 single unit apartments for clients who volunteer, work fulltime and/ or attend school. The transitional housing program is a minimum of six months and graduation depends on successful completion of client and program goals. Individuals coming out of homelessness are often overcoming tragic losses, difficult circumstances or destructive lifestyles. Transitional Housing programs provide extended support that help men navigate the immediate transition to independent living. 5 South Atlanta Resource Manual//
11 A//B// Atlanta Urban Ministry 458 Ponce de Leon Avenue, NE, Atlanta, Georgia (P) The ministry provides emergency assistance to people who need help with rent, utilities, food, counseling and referrals. Eligible families can call for direct assistance or be referred by our partner agencies. Documentation must be provided to verify address, source of income, income amount and number in family. Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF) Suite 1750 North Tower, 235 Peachtree Street, NE, Atlanta, Georgia (P) ALVF represents residents of Fulton County or those who have cases that can be resolved in a Fulton County Court. Eligibility is determined in a number of ways, including case type consumer issues, domestic violence, divorce arising from a violent relationship, wills & advance directives, Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, and special education - and household income. ALVF is a leading legal advocate for victims of domestic violence in the metropolitan Atlanta area. ALVF coordinates the provision of FREE legal services for low-income Fulton County residents by private lawyers. Atlanta Workforce Development Agency, The (AWDA) 818 Pollard Boulevard, SW Hours of Operation: Monday Friday, 8 AM 5 PM Client Orientation of Services: Monday Thursday, 8:30 AM The AWADA is a bureau of the City of Atlanta. Its primary purpose is to administer employment and training programs to the citizens of Atlanta. It offers: Job Seeking Services, Training Services, Literacy Services, a Resource Library, Computer Labs, Career Counseling, Job Fairs, Labor Market Information, and Agency Referrals. Every Tuesday from 8 AM 11 AM, the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency (AWDA) hosts a job fair at its headquarters located at 818 Pollard Boulevard, Atlanta, Georgia The sign-in desk for the job fair closes promptly at 11 AM, so arrive early; some companies will interview applicants until noon. All job candidates are asked to dress in business attire and bring multiple resume copies. For more information, visit Babies Can t Wait Babies Can t Wait Program Manager Suite , Peachtree Street, NW, Atlanta, Georgia Babies Can t Wait provides early intervention services to families who have children from birth to age 3 experiencing developmental delays or disabilities. 12 B// Bethany Christian Services 6645 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, NE, Atlanta, GA (P) Bethany Christian Services is the nation s largest adoption agency, and they also care for women facing unplanned pregnancies. Their comprehensive services include adoption, temporary foster care, counseling, training, and family support. Intensive Family Intervention (IFI): provides services for children and youth with behavioral, emotional, and/or mental health problems. Safe Families: provides temporary childcare for families in crisis. (P) FRAME-Works: Family Relationships Anchored in Marriage Education FRAME FRAME-Works teaches relationship building and communication skills to couples who are not married and are expecting a child together or have a child 3 months or younger together. Birthparent Counseling: offers free pregnancy counseling to birth parents and pregnant women. Bethlehem Senior Center 87 Thayer Avenue, SE, Atlanta, GA (P) Weekday programming is provided for independent seniors 60 and above who have limited resources. From 10 AM to 2 PM Monday through Friday the Bethlehem Senior Center provides fellowship, meals, arts and crafts, fitness and health programming, music, cultural activities, seasonal events, education on consumer matters and personal safety, as well as spiritual enrichment and counseling. Boys & Girls Club (Joseph B. Whitehead) 1900 Lakewood Avenue, SW, Atlanta, GA (P) From games and athletics to drug prevention workshops, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta offers young people a range of fun and productive activities. Clubs are open each day after school from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., when research has shown children to be most vulnerable to gangs, violence and other risky behaviors. In the summer, Clubs and special summer-only sites open their doors all day to young people with nowhere else to go. A trained, caring staff implements proven youth development strategies and creates a stable, supportive environment for children and teens ages six to 18. Specially designed programs concentrate on developing job readiness, study skills, leadership, self-esteem, good health and social responsibility among Boys & Girls Club members. 7 South Atlanta Resource Manual//
13 B//C// Brinks: Home Security (P) Care and Counseling Center of Georgia 1814 Clairmont Rd, Decatur, GA (P) Mon Thurs 8AM to 7PM Fri 9AM to 4PM The Care and Counseling Center of Georgia is a nonprofit, ecumenical organization offering counseling, pastoral care and education to individuals, couples, families and organizations. Care and Counseling is built upon a strong foundation: a union of two established counseling programs formerly known as the Georgia Association for Pastoral Care and The Verdery Center for Pastoral Care and Counseling of the Georgia Baptist Health Care System. Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center of Atlanta 100 Edgewood Avenue, Suite 1650, Atlanta, GA Care Net is committed to helping women and men positively deal with an unexpected pregnancy by providing practical assistance during and after the pregnancy, as well as emotional support. They have trained advocates who work with each client to provide accurate information and education concerning all options. We offer a safe, loving and non-judgmental environment. Care Net offers the following free and confidential services at their center: free pregnancy tests, abortion alternatives, community referrals, mentoring, post abortion counseling, social services referrals, housing referrals, physician and clinic referrals, as well as sensitive and confidential counseling. Forth coming services include: ultrasounds, STD testing, parenting classes, abortion recovery program, abstinence classes, Earn While You Learn program, as well as a baby and maternity clothing store. Catholic Charities 680 W. Peachtree Street, NW, Atlanta, Georgia (P) (P) Direct line for the financial assistance for rent, utilities, and/or food. Tues/Thurs 10AM to 5PM The last week of every month is dedicated to administrative work. They will not be providing employment services during that week. The staff works directly with individuals, who currently are looking for employment. A full assessment of the individual s interests and employment skills is completed and matches are made using available job vacancy information. Individuals also may be assisted in participating in computer classes, mock interviews, resume building and training programs. The staff assists individuals with finding and securing suitable employment at a livable wage, and also follows up and provides support to insure that individuals are able to maintain their employment. 14 C// Parenting Services (P) Provides: Parent-Talk, parent education and support; Home visitation and modeling; Mentor relationships through the Catholic Services Atlanta WINGS Program; and FREE baby supplies/ layettes. Pregnancy Services (P) For pregnant women, who are in crisis about their pregnancy, homeless or in an unstable living situation, or are undecided about their future plans, Catholic Charities Atlanta provides FREE, professional counseling to assist the women and their families with decision making, problem solving, and goal setting. Village of St. Joseph Counseling Services, The 600 W. Peachtree Street, NW, Suite 600, Atlanta, Georgia (P) The Village of St. Joseph Counseling Services offers individual, couples, family, children, adolescent and group counseling provided by highly qualified, professional counselors. Problems that are routinely addressed and resolved include marital and family conflict, adolescent issues, depression, anxiety and stress as well as the difficulties that are encountered in different life stages. Programs offered include: parent education, couples communication, substance abuse groups. A standard fee is charged. However, adjustments may be made on the basis of personal financial need. Heal insurance may also apply. Nobody will be turned away for financial reasons. Center for Black Women s Wellness 477 Windsor Street, Suite 309, Atlanta, Georgia (P) The Center for Black Women s Wellness (CBWW) is a non-profit organization that provides free and lowcost services to empower black women and their families toward physical, mental and economic wellness. CWWW offers preventative health services, maternal & child health services, mental health screening & referrals, as well as self-employment training. Children s at Hughes Spalding 35 Jesse Hill Jr. Drive (P) Located in downtown Atlanta, Children s at Hughes Spalding features 24-hour emergency care, an in-patient unit, radiology services, and specialty care outpatient areas among its pediatric services. Thousands of children in metro Atlanta are treated for allergies, asthma, diabetes, seizures, feeding disorders, sickle cell, autism, cerebral palsy and many other pediatric conditions each year. CHRIS Kids, Inc Clairmont Rd NE, Suite A (P) CHRIS (creativity, honor, respect, integrity and safety) Kids, Inc is an agency that provides programs for children in foster care with mental health and other therapeutic needs. Its mission is to heal children, strengthen families and build community.
