2 Teaching Experience (continued) Create teaching materials o First faculty in Isenberg to use the OWL (online web learning) program developed at UMass. Developed question databases for financial and managerial accounting courses that have been used by dozens of other instructors. I still maintain and update the database. o Created and published various student workbooks for large 221 sections o Published a customized version of a Flatworld Knowledge text to make it more suitable for MBA students. Member of campus-wide Ad Hoc Committee on Online Learning (2004 to 2008) o Committee to address the charge: Advise the campus administration with respect to the optimal technological infrastructure appropriate to effective online and technologically assisted instruction, including the University Library. 10 Academic Service (continued) Pilot or design new tools Pilot most new browsers and operating systems to test for issues with the Blackboard products ( ) Participated in pilots of SPARK, WebCT 3.0, and 4.0, Moodle, BBLearn, Wimba, and others. o Piloted tablet PCs. o Beta-tested WebCT 4.0 with developers. o Tested Elluminate vs. Wimba as part of a Umass Online evaluation. Designed software (with a programmer) that linked scantron results to an Access database. This allowed students to view detailed test results (not just a score) in a secure online environment. This was a huge benefit to students in auditorium classes. Program was used by Davis group faculty (still in use in Finance 301, 8 years later) Other Service Met with representatives of Five College, Inc. and the campuses to find ways to support creative uses of online technology (8/2009).
