2 LOCATION The discovery for SSM 41#7i is a quartz vein on the H.Y/, side of a small valley and located 10 feet west of the No. l post of the claim. In the F. B. Silman, P.Eng., report, it is listed as Discovery #2, The discovery for claims SSM 41S63 to 70 inclu sive, and listed as "Discovery #3", is located on the claim line, 300 feet west of the No. l post of SSK GUIDE AND DATE OF INSPECTION Mr. Gerald Goutu of Wawa, Ontario, acted for the owner as guide. The inspection was made by the author, accompanied by H. Richards, Claim Inspector, on June 22, GENERAL GEOLOGY The high ridges and deep valley of the area are very prominent. They run generally in a north easterly direction and except at the flanks of the ridges, and at small scarps, there is a surprisingly small amount of rock outcrop. The ridges appear to be largely composed of a medium grained, intermediate type of rock, which is probably close to diorite in composition. Large angular fragments of loose material suggest the presence of some aplite and fine grained granite dikes. DISCOVERIES Discovery J2 consists of quartz vein in a small pit in the creek bed of a narrow valley on claim SSM 41^71. The quartz exposed shows the vein to be at least 2 feet wide. It is only exposed at the pit as angular loose rock fragments fill the valley floor. The wall rock on the north western side is poorly exposed but resembles; an aplite. The strike of the vein and small yalleylindicate v* that this "discovery" is a second exposure^?of4theft vein on claim SSM and examined^byjttihelau as Discovery //l for the Wilfred Coutiij^claimls^f wall rocks on the south-east side offjthe^valley^ appear to be a medium grained

3 Discovery #3 is a large quartz outcropping on the south-eastern plank of a high ridge. The dis covery post o*, tois outcrop is approximately 300 feet west of \,r.e No. l post of claim SSM Splashes of quartz show for a considerable distance along the side of the ridge. Tourmaline is prominent at one location. The absence of any quantity of sulphides, and the glassy appearance of most of the quartz, give the whole showing a barren appearance. Irregular splashes of aplite in the quartz, suggest to the author that the quartz may grade over into an aplite dike. SAMPLES Chip samples of the better looking material from each discovery, (that is, Discovery #2 and Discovery #3,) were sent to the Provincial Assayer for gold determinations. The assay results are as follows:- Discovery ^ oz. of gold per ton Discovery ^3 s 0.01 oz. of gold per ton SUMMARY AND OPINION The quartz vein exposed as "Discovery #2", is in the opinion of the author, a continuation of the vein exposed in "Discovery #1" of the Wilfred Coutu claims. It is, therefore, considered to reasonably satisfy the requirements for "Valuable Mineral in Place" according to section l (w" of the Ontario Mining Act, despite the very low assay. The showing of quartz, referred to as "Discovery #3", appears to be barren. It is the opinion of the author that this showing does not constitute Valua ble Mineral in Place within the meaning of section l (2) of the Ontario Mining Act. Respectfully submitted, x S. E. WOLFE.

7 LOCATIOii Claims 33", to inclusive and SSM 41&60 to inclusive, form a contiguous group of eleven claims. The discovery for this group is called N'o. l and so shown by S. B. Silman, F.Sng., in his short discovery report. Two contiguous claims S3;.; 41#58 and 41^59 are also shown on the main plan but do not contain a discovery. All of these claims are in Township 30, Range 19, and are about a mile south of the central portion of Gamitagama Lake. GUIDE AND DATE OF INSPECTION Mr. Gerald Coutu of Wawa, Ontario, acted for the owner as guide. The inspection was made by the author, accompanied by H. Richards, Claims Inspector, on June 22, GEN'ERA L GEOLOGY The district contains high ridges and deep valleys striking in a general north-easterly direction. The valleys appear to be invariably drift covered and even on the ridges, rock outcrops are not plentiful. The ridge outcrops observed conbisted of an inter mediate rock, probably a diorite which may represent rather thick intrusive sills or very thick flows. THE "DISCOVERY" The "Discovery" called No. l, consists of a quartz vein on the south-east side of a small valley in claim SSM At the discovery location the vein forms a small scarp and has a visible length of approximately 50 feet. Width appears to vary from about 6 feet to l foot. Free gold was seen in the vein at two points and Mr. Silman reports a chip sample assay of 2.40 oz. of gold per ton across a true width of 5 feet. The casing pipes for 12 diamond drill holes were observed on the ri,lw 3 to the south-east of the showing. From the author 1 s observation the approximate strike of the quartz vein is N.30 to 40 0E. with a dip of from 60 to 70O south-east. The bearing of the drill

8 holes is approximately at right angles to the strike. The drill hole layout was apparently designed to give sectional data at close intervals. Five sections are represented. The most southerly section contains l drill hole. The next three sections contain 3 drill holes each and most northerly section contains 2 drill holes. For the 3-hole-sections drill hole inclinations are approximately ^5O, 60 O, and SO0. Section interval appears to be about 25 to 30 feet so that the drilling would test the vein occurrence over o strike length of about 120 feet. All of the above distances are estimated but drill hole dips were measured with a Brunton compass. SAMPLE Although free gold was observed in the vein by the author, a confirmatory chip sample, across about three feet, was taken and sent to the Provincial Assay Office. This sample returned 2.35 oz. of gold per ton, equivalent to.i' per ton at ^35.00 per ounce, sumt.aiiy A;:B OPINION The quartz vein represents a gold occurrence of possible merit. The probable lenticular nature, in both vertical and horizontal section, would make reliable quantity estimates very difficult. It is the opinion of the author that this "Discovery" qualifies as "Valuable Mineral in Flae./' within the meaning of Section l (w) of the Ontario Mining Act. 13 LOCATION "Discovery No. 4", for claims SSM to 40571, inclusive, consists of a rusty area on the north-west flank of a ridge. The discovery post is approximately 70 feet south and 410 feet west of the No. l post of claim SSK GUIDE AND DATE OF INSPECTION Mr. Gerald Coutu, of Wawa, Ontario, acted for the owner as guide. The inspection was made by the author, accompanied by H. Richards, Claims Inspector, on Friday, June 2 2, GEKERAL GEOLOGY High ridges and deep valleys are very prominent. Outcrops observed were exclusively on the ridges and appeared to be an intermediate type of rock resembling a diabase or in places a diorite. Just north of the discovery location a small lake occurs. Drainage appears to be to the north-east and the small creek is spanned by a beaver-dam near the discovery claim. THE "DISCOVERY" The "Discovery" for this group of claims consists of a rusty patch on the flank of a ridge some 410 feet west and 70 feet south of Ko. l post of claim SSM A few specks of iron sulphides were observed in fresh chips of the country rock. The oxidation of these sulphides provide the stain. SAMPLES To check the occurrence for possible copper and nickel values, which might occur as replace ment bodies in the immediate vicinity, a chip sample was selected of the better material and sent to the Provincial Assayer. 14 SUMMARY AND OPINION Although t!ie iron stain might be associated with some nearly, but covered, base metal deposit, the possibilities appear to be very slight. The lack of even low values in the sample selected tend to confirm this assumption. It is the opinion of the author that "Discovery Ko. 4" does not constitute "Valuable Mineral in Flaoe" within the meaning of Section l (w) of the Ontario Mining Act.
