The course cov ers the accounting inf ormation sy stem including the process, purpose, concepts, rules, and theory. The course will include the application of accounting principles, concepts, and theory used to accumulate and summarize f inancial data into f inancial statements. The course will include issues relating to asset, liability, and equity v aluation, rev enue and expense recognition, cash f low, internal controls, and ethics. Cultural anthropologists seek to understand the broad arc of human experience f ocusing on a set of central issues: how people around the world make their liv ing (subsistence patterns); how they organize themselv es socially, politically and economically ; how they communicate; how they relate to each other through f amily and kinship ties; what they believ e about the world (belief sy stems); how they express themselv es creativ ely (expressiv e culture); how they make distinction among themselv es such as through apply ing gender, racial and ethnic labels; how they hav e shaped and been shaped by social inequalities such as colonialism; and how they nav igate culture change and processes of globalization that af f ect us all. Ethnographic case studies highlight these similarities and dif f erences, and introduce students to how anthropologists do their work, employ prof essional anthropological research ethics and apply their perspectiv es and skills to understand humans around the globe. Students will write a research paper based on original f ieldwork in a local community. It is meant to train students in clear thinking and reasoned support of ideas. Students will be giv en the opportunity to read models of good expository and argumentativ e prose and learn the techniques of good writing. These include choosing appropriate subjects, dev eloping restricted, unif ied, and precise theses and presenting supporting ev idence in a logical, lucid, and ef f ectiv e manner.
