2 This directory identifies opportunities for high school students to earn college credit in Indiana. It can be used to better inform high school administrators, counselors, and teachers who are exploring dual credit partnerships with postsecondary institutions and to identify additional opportunities for their students to earn college credit while still in high school. The Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning (CELL) intends for the directory to be inclusive of many types of programs that offer the opportunity for high school students to earn college credit. Programs have been organized into six different categories: : College Instructor at High School in Classes with College Students in Classes Solely for High School Students Early College High School Institutions reported that they have programs under development are identified as such, as well as those without formal programs but have customized arrangements with a few schools or are willing to discuss customized arrangements with individual schools. 14 Glossary College Instructor at High School: A postsecondary instructor teaches a college course solely to high school students in the high school or career center classroom (typically during the regularly scheduled school day). in Classes with College Students: A high school student attends a college course taught by a postsecondary instructor alongside traditional postsecondary students on a college campus (including satellite locations, such as evening classes in high school buildings). in Classes Solely for High School Students: A postsecondary institution offers a course on the college campus specifically for high school students, taught by a postsecondary instructor (including Summer Bridge and Upward Bound programs where postsecondary credit is offered). : A high school student participates in a distance education course for postsecondary credit, including online, videoconference, and correspondence courses (including those taught by a postsecondary instructor or secondary instructor approved by the postsecondary institution). Early College High School: High schools paired with a postsecondary institution that target students traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education and allow them to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and an Associate's degree or up to two years of credit toward a Bachelor's degree. Only the three Endorsed Indiana Early College High School model sites are included in this directory at this time. : is a non-profit organization that offers rigorous high school courses in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Some postsecondary institutions have created dual credit programs that allow students to earn both college credit and high school credit through courses in a concurrent enrollment arrangement.
