1 M E M O R A N D U M TO: FROM: Select Focus and Priority Schools Charlie Geier, Director of Early Learning and Intervention Cindy Hurst, Title I Coordinator DATE: March 5, 2014 SUBJECT: 1003(a) Grant Opportunity Grant Information The Office of Early Learning and Intervention is offering a school improvement planning grant opportunity for Priority Schools that have received F grades for two (2) or three (3) consecutive years via the state accountability system, and Focus and Priority schools in F districts. This project is intended for schools to build leadership capacity and stronger school improvement plans that are aligned with USDOE s Turnaround Principles for Focus and Priority schools and Title I Schoolwide and PL 221 requirements. Participating schools will be required to choose either Option A or Option B and use funds to partner with AdvancEd to complete work, provide professional development, and complete grant activities. Option A has a limited number of awardees. If Option A is chosen and the school is not awarded Option A, Option B may be awarded to that school. The completed grant with a clear plan must be submitted to the Indiana Department of Education for review. Additionally, any reports or data collections required from IDOE, such as a Final Expenditure Report, must be submitted in a timely manner. 5 M E M O R A N D U M TO: FROM: Select Focus and Priority Schools Charlie Geier, Director of Early Learning and Intervention Cindy Hurst, Title I Coordinator DATE: March 21, 2014 SUBJECT: 1003(a) Grant Opportunity Round 2 Grant Information The Office of Early Learning and Intervention is offering a school improvement planning grant opportunity for Title I Priority Schools that have received an F grade for one (1) year via the state accountability system, and Title I schools in D districts which have received a D grade via the state accountability system for the school grade. This project is intended for schools to build leadership capacity and stronger school improvement plans that are aligned with USDOE s Turnaround Principles for Focus and Priority schools and Title I Schoolwide and PL 221 requirements. Participating schools will be required to use funds to partner with AdvancEd for professional development in regards to writing a school improvement plan, as well as training staff in areas of need. The intent of this grant is to provide the resources necessary to convene a school leadership team to write an effective school improvement plan and build leadership capacity. The completed grant with a clear plan must be submitted to the Indiana Department of Education for review. Additionally, any reports or data collections required from IDOE, such as a Final Expenditure Report, must be submitted in a timely manner.
