2 International Event Management Event Management is a rapidly growing field within the services sector not only for its recreational qualities, but also for its power of communication. The great strength of this business sector is that a well organised event is capable of satisfying guests and participants on multiple levels an event is not only a diversion for its participants but a tool capable of unifying large bodies of people around a specific happening, and at its best around a specific idea. With its multifaceted role, which includes planning, organisation and execution, event management requires a thorough grasp of key procedures, such as forming an initial concept and targeting an audience through market research, as well as branding and sponsorship. The Short Course in International Event Management at the European School of Economics aims to equip students with essential knowledge and skills needed to excel within each stage of the event management process. The course covers such topics as conceptualisation, planning, marketing, budget forecasting, event execution and post-event analysis. Practical, theoretical and strategic expertise will be provided within a challenging environment in order for students to succeed within this dynamic field.

3 Event Management at ESE The ESE Short Course comprises 5 modules. Each module entails one 3-hour session per week over 11 weeks, plus an optional 3-month internship upon completion of the 5 modules. Next Starting Date: January 2013 Modules Included: 1. Event Strategy and Planning 2. Event Organisation and Operations 3. Event Marketing and Communication 4. Event Economics and Finance 5. Project Work Language of Instruction: English Course Duration: 165 in-class hours (3 months) + Optional Internship (3 month minimum) Mode of Delivery: Each module requires 3 in-class hours per week, for a total of 15 weekly hours (Monday-Friday) Course Assessment: Students must have an 80% attendance rate to qualify for the final exam and certificate Final Exam: 100% Course Level: Undergraduate Internship (optional): Students who intend to participate in an internship must first undergo an assessment by the Placement Officer. Upon being deemed eligible, both the student and the placement officer will choose a host company based on the participant s unique career goals and objectives. Candidates must submit a Résumé/CV and undergo a successful interview for their acceptance. Students who wish to complete an internship in a country, which does not speak their mother tongue are expected to have an intermediate command of the native language.

7 Entry Requirements Online application form Non-refundable online application fee High School Diploma or Undergraduate Degree Résumé/CV Intermediate command of the English language (TOEFL/IELTS is a plus) Photocopy of passport/id document Three passport-sized photographs Maximum Number of Attendees: 30 (In order to provide a unique learning experience with an ideal professor-to-student ratio, no more than 30 students will be admitted into this programme) Intensive Language Courses (optional): Students wishing to complete an internship in Italy or a Spanish / French speaking country must have an intermediate command of the language. Credits & Recognition: No ECTS credits are awarded to students upon completion of this course. Students will receive a Certificate of Attendance in International Event Management awarded by the European School of Economics.
