2 Watch out for Freezing and Bursting Water Pipes Protect Pipes Against the Cold *Wrap water pipes with rag material. *If you use a blanket, a cloth or rag material, cover it with plastic. If water pipes freeze, cover them with towels and slowly pour warm water over them. Never use hot water. If water pipes burst, *Turn off the water valve at the water meter box and make temporary repairs by wrapping cloth, tape, or the like tightly around the broken part of the pipe, and ask a city-designated plumber to make repairs. *Be sure to ask a city-designated plumber to make repairs. (Costs vary.) *Plumbers will be on holiday during the end of the year and beginning of the year, so take special care to avoid accidents. Only city designated plumbers are permitted to repair plumbing in the inside of a house in Hikone City. The names of the designated plumbers are carried by the Hikone-shi homepage. Theme Exhibition -----Celebrate the New Year-----"Okina", a noble old man----- The Japanese have believed that the old man is a symbol of auspiciousness and a happy life. Both "Okina" in Noh play and "Jurojin" in folk religion are figures of old men, and at the same time they express an auspicious symbol of human beings. The exhibition will introduce various figures and patterns as happy omens. If you have your health notebook that the Center issued, please bring it on the checkup day. Capacity: 50 people each time Qualification: 20 years old and over for checkup of uterine cancer, 40 years old and over for checkup of breast cancer (have each cancer checkup once every 2 years) *Reserved---first come, first served *Avoid having the uterine cancer checkup during your monthly menstrual period and during the 2 or 3 days before and after your period. *Avoid having the breast cancer checkup during your monthly menstrual period and during the 7 days before and after your period *This breast cancer checkup is inadequate for those who are pregnant, nursing, or have had a pacemaker inserted, as well as those who have had breast enlargement surgery. Checkup Fee: 900 for uterine cancer, 1,400 for year-olds. See & touch and 2-way-mammography check. 1,000 for 50 year-olds and over, see & touch and 1-way-mammography check for breast cancer. The mammography check is an X-ray of the breast and is available for ages 40 and over.
