Toulouse Business School, which was created in 1903 by the Toulouse Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has always tried to be seen as performing a dual mission: training high-level decision-makers (wherever they may come from and whatever the responsibilities they may take on in the future), while also contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the key fields of management (via its Research Centre). There are almost 4,000 students on the campuses of Toulouse Business School. TBS s CAMPUSES toulouse Lascrosses: in the city center The Campus is built around the Place de L Europe, at the heart of the Compans-Caffarelli business district, a short distance from the Palais des Sports and the nearest metro station. It includes the School, the halls of residence, the administrative building and the library. Nearby, a large park with a lake and a Japanese Garden offers the chance of a quiet moment at lunch time. With the city center practically on their doorstep, students can get the most out of all Toulouse has to offer, without wasting time: shops, public transport, the Place du Capitole and the banks of the Garonne River are just a few steps away. toulouse Entiore: in the city s business center Entiore is located at the heart of Toulouse s technology and services district (Labège Innopole, Montaudran and La Plaine). The campus covers a total of 24 acres, including 100,000 sq feet of reception and service facilities: a library, IT rooms, multimedia services, a cafeteria, a bus link with the city center, etc. And all this in a bright, modern architectural style that puts user comfort before all else. The Entiore site is where the Bachelor and Executive Education programs are taught, and also houses the Advanced Business Center as well as the support services for companies, run by the Toulouse Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Barcelona: at the heart of an international city Barcelona is both an international and a decidedly Catalan city with sun, beaches, a rich cultural heritage and economic dynamism all contributing to the attractions that win over every visitor! The TBS Campus is in the heart of the city, at the center of the many and varied activities to be found in the Catalan capital. By opening a campus in Barcelona, Toulouse Business School signaled its determination to become a force to be reckoned with in this southern European powerhouse. This initiative gives students the opportunity to follow programs in two countries and several languages, in a city of global importance. The Barcelona campus also enables TBS to recruit the best Spanish and international school-leavers. Lastly, it is also seen as an advantage by our partners. Casablanca: boosting development The Toulouse Business School Campus in Casablanca accommodates 250 students, who follow Bachelor, Specialized Masters and MSc programs, as well as an Executive MBA designed to help with the development of Moroccan businesses. The campus is located within a vast complex run by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco. The complex is focused wholly on teaching, and includes a French high school, a professional training center and a two-year university program for school-leavers. TAKING THE CAPITAL BY Storm The newest addition to TBS is its branch in Paris. It opened in January 2012 and is intended to promote the development of the School s offer in continuing education and Specialized Masters courses in the Paris region. This new branch offers executives and senior managers in Ile-de-France the possibility of developing their leadership skills and opening up to international opportunities. 9

10 tbs research CENtrE USEFUL FOR COMPANIES, PROFITABLE FOR STUDENTS Research is a fundamental aspect of the activities of Toulouse Business School: for many years now it has regularly contributed to progress in the school s programs and teaching. In the last 30 years, the transfer of knowledge from academic research to business and companies has increased exponentially. This acceleration has led Toulouse Business School to undertake research into management with the constant ambition of advancing knowledge and addressing the needs of stakeholders. The worlds of business and learning now share mutually rewarding partnerships and our students are the first to benefit as their training constantly takes into account the very latest findings. They start their careers without any fear that their knowledge might be obsolete, fully equipped to be the thinkers and creators of the organizations they work for. TBS takes part in European projects on such topics as Corporate Social Responsibility, designing tools for consultancy training, equality and diversity, lifelong learning, and developing skills in the workplace. Other projects at European level concern partnerships between Europe and China, the consequences of the economic crisis, purchasing behavior regarding financial products and social responsibility in SMEs. TBS Research Centre is also a partner in numerous projects in France. Its research activities cover all the main fields of management: finance, marketing, human resources, strategy, entrepreneurship, management control, etc. THE DOCTORAL SCHOOL IN MANAGEMENT SCIENCES Toulouse Business School works in association with the Management Sciences doctoral school of the University of Toulouse 1 Capitole. TBS participates in the governance of this school; our professors run seminars and supervise several doctoral students. This unusual arrangement enables scientific collaboration between School and University and the creation of a center of excellence in management studies. DOCTORAT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION DBA The DBA proposed by Toulouse Business School is intended for working professionals wishing to acquire new skills through training in research via research. This is a major strength, but a logical one considering the School s geographical location and the region s history. Toulouse is one of the birthplaces of aviation and over the years has become the European aerospace capital. Three leading aircraft manufacturers (Airbus, ATR and Daher-Socata) have their global headquarters in Midi-Pyrénées. TBS also plays an active role in Aerospace Valley, the world-class aerospace/embedded systems competitiveness cluster, which includes both Aquitaine and Midi-Pyrénées. The competitiveness cluster has 100 corporate members and accounts for 120,000 jobs (including no fewer than 8,500 industrial researchers), amounting to one third of the French aerospace workforce. PATHS TO EXCELLENCE The Aerospace MBA is the jewel in the crown of Toulouse Business School, providing unique multinational training in aerospace management. It was created in 1998 and the curriculum was awarded the AMBA (Association of MBAs) label in The Aerospace MBA is designed for executives and engineers in the sector wishing to move up to positions of greater responsibility, to equip them with the most recent knowledge and management practices. They learn the fundamentals of management and benefit from the experience of experts from leading French, European and North American aerospace companies. The MS Air Transport Management course was also set up in 1998 in partnership with the École Nationale de l Aviation Civile (ENAC), and offers initial or advanced training for executives and senior managers from companies in the air transport sector (airlines, aeronautical manufacturers, travel agencies, airports, etc.) in all aspects of management and administration. The Professional Aerospace Management Option, launched in 2002 and available in the third year of the Grande École program, is designed to train managers in decision-making and project management in any context related to the Aerospace sector. TBS/ENAC: A CLOSE PARTNERSHIP STRENGTHENED By TWO NEW FEATURES Toulouse Business School forms partnerships with the best schools to offer its students dual degrees for excellence in the Grande École - Masters in Management program. It therefore quite naturally turned to the École Nationale de l Aviation Civile to develop new curricula. Since the fall of 2013, TBS and ENAC have therefore offered four dual degrees in aeronautical business management. After joint discussions on the needs of the aviation sector in terms of management skills, these courses, which are unique in France, are now open to foreign students. They will enable students at ENAC to obtain a dual degree combining the Business School s Grande École qualification and ENAC s engineering diploma. Students of the TBS Grande École program will first complete the Masters level and will then have the possibility of obtaining three of the qualifications proposed by ENAC: - Masters in IATOM (International Air Transport Operations Management), - Specialized Masters in Airport Management, - Specialized Masters in Air Transport Management. Also in partnership with ENAC, TBS is reinforcing its Bachelor in Management program with the creation of an aeronautics section. This state-approved 3-year Bachelor course already has six sections and is now expanding to include aeronautical and airport management. TBS is thus launching the first Bachelor course in France to be dedicated exclusively to Aeronautical Management. 12 the toulouse BuSiNESS SCHooL FOUNDATION THE TOULOUSE BUSINESS SCHOOL FOUNDATION COLLECT, CREATE, BOOST The Toulouse Business School Foundation was set up at the start of 2008 under the aegis of the Fondation de France, and has successfully mobilized the Group s partner companies, alumni and students to: Sponsor new academic courses; Help finance research programs; Encourage social and cultural diversity among students via programs for social and performance grants. Eight teaching and research Chairs have also been created with support from the Foundation. These Chairs provide exceptional forums for discussions and work between donor companies and TBS. audit Chair The partners are actively involved in the Excellence curriculum, which is designed to train students of the Grande École program in the skills required by auditors. Partners: Ernst & Young, KPMG, Mazars and Pricewaterhouse- Coopers. Sustainable and responsible development Chair It trains future managers to become agents of sustainable development and CSR. Partners: GRDF, La Poste Group. Entrepreneurship Chair Encourages students to take a serious interest in VSEs and SMEs and to create their own companies. Since 2012, the Chair has mainly supported the project for an educational incubator, TBSeeds. Partner: Association ATALE. digital marketing Chair With this Chair, companies have the opportunity to participate actively and responsibly in the training of their future executives in Community Management. Their donations not only help pay for tuition grants but also finance research work into emerging issues related to digital marketing. Partners: BioMedical Alliance, Biscuits Poult, Campus Channel, Chausson Matériaux, Regain Perform, UPA 31. Consultancy Chair Its purpose is to bring more attention to bear on the consultancy professions in all their diversity, to introduce innovative teaching methods and produce new knowledge. Strategic Steering for SmEs Chair This Chair supports the development of research on the observation and understanding of the use of management dashboards for SMEs and the development of innovative methodologies. It also helps to irrigate the teachings of the various programs through the participation of KPMG in course modules and in the mentoring student projects. Partner: KPMG. Health Chair Supports the development and professionalization of the Specialized Masters in Management of Health and Social Structures via joint teaching projects and initiatives designed to facilitate the employability of students. It also supports certain projects led by the Health Research Group. Partner: Groupe MEDICA. SiriuS Chair The first international Chair dedicated to Law and Business Management for Activities in the Space Sector. The research teams at University of Toulouse 1 Capitole and TBS will carry out studies on behalf of companies in the French space industry. They will also help disseminate their findings via specialized and dedicated symposia, seminars and workshops. Partners: CNES, Astrium, Thales Alenia Space. New partnerships - which may lead to the creation of new Chairs - are currently under discussion. If successful, these could enable the Foundation to increase its support for students by raising the number who already benefit from its solidarity fund. 13 tbs alumni ACTIVE, ENTHUSIASTIC GRADUATES, WILLING TO HELP The quality of a Grande École also depends on the extent of the networks formed by its past pupils. In this respect, TBS is particularly well favored. More than 30,000 graduates from the Group s courses belong to the Toulouse Business School Alumni Association. The association s main aim is to form a genuinely active and enthusiastic network willing to help past and present alumni. A network that participates fully in promoting the school s reputation, developing the School and defending its interests and those of its graduates. 3 ESSENTIAL DIMENSIONS A network which strives to achieve the following values: Human: because graduating from TBS means belonging to a community with a shared set of values; Professional: with, ultimately, the possibility of sharing experience, knowledge about a company, a profession, a position or a business sector, and helping fill your address book; International: as TBS alumni can now be found in many countries, there are more than 40 active branches around the world, real ambassadors for TBS and its association of alumni. On a day-to-day basis, the network is run by a permanent team of three, together with about a hundred volunteers around the world. They strive to make TBS one of the most highly-valued Business Schools, by both its graduates and companies. And with great success, because over the last ten years or so, new measures and practical services to address the needs of graduates have been developed continuously. This means not just receiving information, but above all being offered assistance throughout their careers. REGARDING EMPLOyMENT Every effort is made to help students and alumni launch and then boost their professional careers: an advice service, occupational guidance or career assessment, a service listing job offers online (mostly from the hidden job market), professional introductions, participation in the Association s annual Job Dating event and in workshops, help in finding part-time or short-term contracts via the EasyJob platform, etc. REGARDING COMMUNICATION agora: TBS Alumni publish three issues a year of Agora, the Association s information magazine, as well as a monthly newsletter. the directory of alumni of all TBS Group s programs (Grande École, Bachelor, MS and MBAs). 14 tbs and BuSiNESS CONSTANT INTERACTION To carry out our mission, we monitor and take into account changes in the technological, economic and managerial environment. TBS consequently creates, maintains and develops close and varied links with its professional environment. This interaction can be seen in the active involvement of companies in the School s teaching and recruitment and in the development and governance of the Group s activities INVOLVEMENT IN GOVERNANCE For several years now, TBS has had a governance body - the Board of Directors - which includes members of the Toulouse Chamber of Commerce and a large proportion of representatives of companies from a wide range of sectors (aeronautics, health, distribution, banking, auditing, etc.). The role of this body is to define key strategic directions and the major development projects for TBS. INVOLVEMENT IN TEACHING Companies also participate in the governance of the TBS Foundation, in the steering committees for certain training programs (such as the Aerospace MBA) or services designed to assist students (such as the Career Starter ). Companies contribute to joint teaching projects in many ways! Moreover, students on all TBS programs are given access to a complete range of presentations, training and assistance in entrepreneurship and starting companies: the Ouvre-Boîte seminar, the educational TBSEEDS incubator, the DELTA entrepreneurship project, pre-incubation, the Grande École Entrepreneurship program as either a major or a professional option, the entrepreneurship Study Tour for the Bachelor Program, etc. Business and the business environment are at the heart of the research work into the management sciences carried out by the TBS Research Centre, and are also the subject of many articles published in leading scientific journals or books. THE APPRENTICE TRAINING CENTER (CFA) a passport for youth employment, a recruitment tool for the company. Established in 2003, the Apprentice Training Center of Toulouse Business School was the first CFA in Midi-Pyrénées and the only one to offer the DSCG curriculum (Higher Diploma in Accounting and Management) in an apprenticeship format. For over ten years, it has been training young people for the DCG (Diploma of Accounting and Management) and allows students of the TBS Grande École Program to complete their Master 1 and 2 part-time. With its innovative teaching methods, which include the active participation of outside professionals, and its international outreach, the Bachelor program produces genuinely operational middle-managers in just three years. AN INTERCULTURAL DIMENSION The originality of the Bachelor program resides in its intercultural dimension, which can be summed up in four goals: To meet and work with fellow-students of different origins and truly international teachers; To discover different cultural settings via study trips and internships abroad; To engage students with the international side of business.
