The audience for your guide is young men and women who are keen to start a new business or enterprise. Firstly, explain the top 5 reasons why businesses fail Make your guide interesting and appealing, use images but keep them relevant and appropriate. Explain how to avoid failure and ensure a business is successful Answer the following questions in your guide: Do certain businesses do better at certain times? 2 Prep 2 Small Business Research Guide time minutes You need to decide on a suitable small business to investigate. Think of a business where you will be able to gain the information that you need. A business you can visit, a family friend, part time job or local business is a good place to start Put together a fact file about your small business. As a minimum you need to find out: - - Name of Business - Address - Name of Business Owner - How many people work there - When they started - Direct competitors - Indirect Competitors - Brief Description of Business Activity (what they do, what sector they are in): - Their aims and objectives - Examples of the products or services they make/sell - Any relevant pictures/map/photographs - The date and time you spoke with the business owner Any further background information would also be useful.
