Students who earn this degree will have a strong foundation to continue with our AAS-T degree in Materials Science. It is designed to prepare graduates to enter into industry or to prepare students who wish to transfer to other colleges or universities having specific bachelor s degree programs that accept the AAS-T degree. Demonstrate abilities in human relations. Obtain employment in the field as a test technician, a composite fabricator, or continue to a four year program. Demonstrate abilities in the non-destructive testing of materials. Demonstrate abilities in participating in the design process. Demonstrate abilities in explaining how composites work. Mechanical Testing, Process Technician, Composite Technician, Composite Repair AAS-T Ross Monroe ross.monroe@edcc.edu ROBOTICS & ELECTRONICS TECHNOLOGY The Robotics and Electronics Associate of Technical Arts (ATA) degree program trains students to enter the job market for a variety of companies as Electronics Technicians. This program trains students in electronic circuit analysis, functional testing and troubleshooting of complex linear, digital, and microprocessor-based circuits. This training makes extensive use of practical, hands on learning. Whenever possible, we model real-world applications so our graduates are prepared for the work they will find. This program takes two academic years to complete. Students typically enter in fall quarter unless they have prior electronics training. Students should have taken high school algebra, have strong reading skills, and aptitude for solving technical problems. Students who complete just the first year of this program are eligible for the Basic Electronics Certificate. Components covered in DC quarter, RC circuits, inductors, filters, diodes, power supplies, transistors, and operational amplifiers. Testing and troubleshooting circuits where voltage changes over time. Use DMM and oscilloscope. Digital and microprocessor circuits. Operation of basic logic gates, flip-flops, decoders, multiplexers, counters, and microprocessor circuits. Analyze, test, and troubleshoot digital and microprocessor circuits. Build, test, program and troubleshoot their robots. Utilizes electronic principles and test equipment. Program a small scale robot to perform basic navigation under program control, with various sensor inputs, using feedback and control techniques. Troubleshoot a robotic system. Programming a large scale robot using LabVIEW and programming and building a robot system using the Arduino, prototyping platform. Analyzing, functional testing, and systematic troubleshooting of digital circuits designed with logic dates, flip-flops, one shots, counters, dividers, decoders, shift registers, memory circuits, latches, and buffers. Programming a microcontroller in a C-type language to read sensors and control outputs, and troubleshooting software and hardware using functional testing. Analyzing and systematic testing of linear circuits designed with operational amplifiers as comparators, buffers, amplifiers, filters, regulators, drivers, integrators, and instrumentation amplifiers. D/A, A/D converters, timers, and transistor circuits included. Material and the experience needed for the Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) exam. 4 Everett Community College 2000 Tower St Everett, WA AVIATION MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN Aviation Maintenance Technicians, also known as aircraft (A&P) mechanics, are responsible for keeping aircraft in peak condition. FAA inspections and maintenance Repairs Replacement of parts Use of precision tools Troubleshooting problems Testing equipment Preventative maintenance Work on all types of aircraft Typically, technicians are FAA certified, which requires a combination of hands-on hours as well as classroom hours in a program offered within the EvCC program. EvCC s Aviation Maintenance Technology Program - 40 years at Paine Field Background knowledge and practical shop experience Basics of electricity, physics, hydraulics, air conditioning, and other aircraft systems; aircraft maintenance; understanding of FAA regulations. Upon successful completion of the Airframe and Powerplant program, the student will be issued a completion certificate, as required by Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 147, showing the date of completion and approved curriculum completed. Opportunities Jobs as as foremen, supervisors and inspectors are available to qualified A&P maintenance technicians, particularly those who hold an associate degree in addition to their FAA ratings. The program covers the first- and second-year engineering, math and science courses that form this degree, and which serve as preparation for a variety of engineering majors, including aeronautical, biological, civil, chemical, electrical, mechanical and materials science.
