Student will have 6 months to complete the course requirements. Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma MFT S s The 5S s are a foundational Lean Manufacturing concept used by many companies as a beginning of their Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma implementation. The 5S s include sorting, shining, setting in order, standardizing and sustaining. The 5S s are a means to create a visual workplace and develop teams through empowerment and ownership of work areas and processes. Additionally, the 5S s can make your workplace more agile and focused on continuous improvement. 5S training will include recognition and elimination of the wastes that are found in a manufacturing environment. This is a four-hour on-site development activity.

3 MFT 0302 Six Sigma Tool Kit Six Sigma Tool Kit is a grouping of practical tools that can be applied in many situations to bring about immediate direction for continuous improvement. Topics in this training include; Brainstorming, role-storming, SWOT Analysis, 5-Why s, Ishikawa (Fishbone) diagrams, PICK charts, Spaghetti Diagrams and Stand in the Circle. These tools can be applied by individuals or teams to help direct continuous improvement activities based on observed events or interactive discussion. This training includes exercises to demonstrate these tools. This is a six-hour on-site development activity. MFT 0303 Charts, Graphs & Diagrams Charts, Graphs & Diagrams presents the common tools used to consolidate data and create visual displays for analysis and decision making. Items covered include; line graphs, run charts, control charts, histograms, Pareto charts, scatter diagrams, affinity diagrams, relationship diagram, common flowchart symbols and process charts. This is a six-hour on-site development activity. MFT 0304 DMAIC DMAIC Problem Solving is a well-defined problem solving methodology used as the basis of Six Sigma processes. DMAIC steps (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) help an individual or team drive to the root cause of a problem. The DMAIC process is a roadmap to achieve more optimized results that support product and service excellence with minimum resource investments. Areas discussed include; how to recognize and determine which problems to work on first, advantages of a structured process, the types and importance of data and an overview of other problem solving techniques. Students will participate in a problem-solving exercise to practice the DMAIC process. This is a twelve-hour on-site development activity. MFT 0305 Check Sheets Check Sheets are used to collect real-time data that can be used for quantitative and qualitative analysis. Check sheets are one of the basic tools of continuous improvement. This training will cover the types of check sheets, format, 5W s, function, and transfer of data to visual representation such as, Pareto charts, histograms and facility diagrams. This is a four-hour onsite development activity. MFT 0306 Mistake Proofing Mistake proofing, also called Poka-yoke, is a tool in the lean manufacturing processes that helps an operator or technician avoid mistakes. Mistake proofing can be put into practice at any step of a process where an error could possibly occur. Mistake proofing adds controls to prevent defects, reduce a defect s severity and detect defects. The ultimate goal is to prevent

4 defects from occurring. This is a four-hour on-site development activity. This is a non-credit Quality Assurance MFT 0320 CQIA Prep The CQIA (Certified Quality Improvement Associate) course prepares a student to sit for the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Improvement Associate examination by providing both an introduction and a review of its three major elements; Quality Basics, Teams, and Continuous Improvement. Students will gain an understanding of the fundamental concepts of Quality improvement processes. This certification is also ideal for front line employees, such as customer service and administrative assistants, who interact directly with customers. Students will learn to project the organization's quality focused image while performing routine job activities. Production Technician MFT 0610 Production Technician (Complete Course, includes all five parts) The Production Technician curriculum is an 80 contact hour program.
