3 HISTORY Intergovernmental agreement signed on November 12 th, 2009 between Mr. Nguyễn Thiện Nhân, Vice - Prime Minister of Vietnam and Mme Valerie Pécresse, Minister of Higher Education and Research of France. USTH is opened in Oct 2010.

8 A New Model University of Vietnam The first public Vietnamese University to adopt the Bologna process for its courses and degree in Asia Strongly associating Education, Research and Industry Supported by a Consortium of 41 French universities and institutions Supported by a dozen of Vietnamese universities and research institutions, especially VAST s members. All courses delivered in English by Vietnamese and International professors. Master diploma co-validated by Vietnam and France Doctorate training in French and International Joint Laboratories Internship in France and Abroad

24 Conclusion and Perspective Based on the close collaboration between Vietnam and France, realized by special mechanism and charter approved by highest governmental authorities important components such as governance structures, administration staff, academic staff, educational curricula and programs of all three higher educational levels, international joint laboratories and research projects have been established for development of the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi as a new model research university of international standards. With the $190M loan of ADB and the 65 ha land provided by Hoa Lac High Tech Park the civil construction work and the setting up laboratory facilities of the new campus for USTH will be targeted for completion in the next 3-4 years, USTH will move to the next phase of full development realizing the planned goal.
