WELCOME TO THE QUICK AND EASY WAY TO PAY TOLLS N ow that you ve received your i-zoom tag, you are ready to begin enjoying the ease and convenience of electronic toll payment. You ll be able to pass through toll plazas without fumbling for cash, tickets or tokens or rolling down your window. Greater benefits result when more motorists use their tags at i-zoom /E-ZPass facilities. Individually, i-zoom tagholders have the advantage of quick and easy toll payments. Together, all i-zoom /E-ZPass users help reduce congestion and auto emissions caused by idling engines. Record here: ACCOUNT INFORMATION Account Number PIN Number (For identification purposes when calling i-zoom Customer Care Center) izoom-90 ( )
HOW YOUR TAG WORKS 1 As you pass through the toll plaza at the posted speed limit, your i-zoom tag is read. 2 In an instant, the tag number and vehicle information is read by an antenna in the toll plaza and the proper charge is deducted from your i-zoom account. 3 The gate in the lane will rise when a valid tag is read. 4 An i-zoom Accepted message is immediately displayed to you just beyond the toll plaza lane. To avoid delays, always have your tag installed properly by affixing as per the mounting instructions provided with your tag(s). Otherwise, the signal from your tag may not be read and you may be subject to paying the cost of driving the entire Indiana Toll Road.
HOW TO INSTALL YOUR I-ZOOM TAG PASSENGER VEHICLES 1 With the arrows of the tag pointing toward the roof, align the tag on the INSIDE surface of the windshield behind the rearview mirror at least one (1) inch below the metal roofline and one (1) inch to the right or left of the mirror post. 2 Remove the plastic backing tape from the DualLock strips and firmly press the tag against the glass for 15 seconds. (See above photo) COMMERCIAL VEHICLES (SINGLE-UNIT TRUCKS, BUSES, TRUCKS, OR TRACTORS WITH ONE OR MORE TRAILERS) 1 With the arrows of the tag pointing toward the roof, align the tag on the INSIDE surface of the windshield so that it is one (1) to two (2) inches from the bottom of the windshield in the center. If the windshield is divided by a vertical metal strip, mount the tag one (1) inch to the right of the metal strip. 2 Remove the plastic backing tape from the DualLock strips and firmly press the tag against the glass for 15 seconds. (See above photo)
WARNING: Doing the following may not allow the antenna to read your i-zoom tag and could result in toll evasion violations and administrative fees: Not installing your tag or improperly installing your tag. Installing the tag in a location other than where the instructions indicate it should be installed. Holding your tag in your hand or waving it when traveling through lanes. IMPORTANT: Tags may be installed and used in Indiana and on the Chicago Skyway within 2-3 hours after activation, and within hours on other toll roads. Tags must not obstruct the driver s line of sight through the windshield and must not be installed on the mirror, visor or dashboard. Please install tags properly. If more adhesive mounting strips are needed for other vehicles, or if you have a problem installing the tags, assistance is available by calling izoom-90 ( ). Tags must be installed. Leaving tags on a seat, dashboard or console and holding them up to the windshield is not safe and may result in delays, violations and administrative fees. Tags installed incorrectly or not at all can cause unnecessary issuance of fees or delays at the toll booth. Tags must not be held in your hand. Doing so may result in toll evasion violations and administrative fees. Don t move i-zoom tag between vehicles We recommend you get a tag for each vehicle that you plan to use on the Indiana Toll Road. One properly installed tag per vehicle will reduce the chances of your tag not reading properly. We do not recommend multiple vehicles sharing one tag. However, please contact the i-zoom Customer Care Center if you wish to change the vehicle in which you use your tag or add a vehicle to share an i-zoom tag. To be classified as a private vehicle or individual account you must meet the following criteria: an individually owned or leased vehicle with two axles; a maximum gross weight of 7,000 pounds; and single rear tires. Use of your tag on a vehicle with a different classification will result in a toll adjustment to your account, and your account may be subject to additional fees. Note: You are required to add/update your vehicle(s) and license plate information on your i-zoom account. A private vehicle pulling a trailer has a different classification but can still be used with your regular 2-
If You Do Not Want To Use Your Tag If you do not want your tag to be read at a particular toll plaza, be sure to enclose the tag in the silver read prevention bag normally provided with your tag prior to entering the toll plaza area. If you need a read prevention bag, call the i-zoom Customer Care Center at izoom-90 ( ). TIP: You must always fold the bag when the tag is in it, so the tag is sealed and cannot be read. LANE INFORMATION Approaching an i-zoom /E-ZPass lane Look for the distinctive orange-and-white i-zoom logo signs (or purple-and-white E-ZPass signs in other states) whenever you use a toll facility. The signs will direct you to the lanes within the toll plaza that accept i-zoom /E-ZPass. Be aware of any E-ZPass operating differences from roadway to roadway as you travel, including some roads requirements that i-zoom customers use the purple-and-white dedicated E-ZPass lanes. In addition, some roads restrict manned lanes to cash payers only, whereas on the Indiana Toll Road, i-zoom users can use any lane at the toll plaza. Speed limits are posted within toll plazas, so please obey all posted speed limit signs. Entering a lane Remember, when you use i-zoom tags, safety is the most important rule. There are basic safety rules you should keep in mind when entering an i-zoom lane: Never get out of your vehicle. Never attempt to back out of a toll lane. Be sure to follow the instructions of your toll attendant. Always obey the posted speed limit and other traffic signals. Your tag must be affixed to your windshield, not held in your hand. Come to a complete stop at staffed lanes. Configuration of i-zoom /E-ZPass lanes can differ from roadway to roadway and from plaza to plaza. Some facilities have i-zoom - or E-ZPass -only lanes in the middle of the plaza, others have them on the outside lanes and others don t have them at all. When traveling unfamiliar roadways, remain alert, pay close attention to road signs and use common sense.
Exiting a lane When driving through the lane, you will see a digital display read-out mounted just below the traffic light. If your tag is read properly, it will read Thank You and the gate will go up. In the event you have a low balance, the display will read Low Balance. In the unfortunate event your tag is invalid, the display will read Invalid Tag. i-zoom Accepted and Thank You messages An i-zoom Accepted or Thank You message and/or a green traffic light indicate: Your account has a sufficient balance. Your tag is properly installed and the toll has been deducted from your account. Low Balance or Account Low messages A Low Balance or Account Low message and/or a yellow traffic light may display in the toll lane. This is normal as long as it does not appear in consecutive business days. This is also a convenience to our customers that their account will be replenished before the next business day. Please refer to the Payment On Your Account section, page 10. Invalid Tag message An Invalid Tag message may occur in the lane. This message may be accompanied by a red traffic light (sometimes yellow). Action you should take: i-zoom-only lane Do not stop. Pass through the toll plaza if possible, and call the i-zoom Customer Care Center as soon as possible. Staffed lane Stop, pay the full cash toll, obtain your receipt and call the i-zoom Customer Care Center. TOLL LANE MESSAGES VARY FROM ROADWAY TO ROADWAY Remember: For all toll plazas NEVER BACK OUT OF A TOLL LANE. Toll attendants do not have access to your i-zoom account, so they cannot answer your questions in the toll lane. You can access the Website at or call the i-zoom Customer Care Center at izoom-90 ( ) to obtain account information or answer any questions regarding your account. Invalid tags, or tag misuse for all authorities Mis-users of the i-zoom system, including installing a tag not programmed properly for the type of vehicle you are driving, are subject to penalties and administrative fees. If you replenish an account that has insufficient funds by cash or check (restricted to a one-time occurrence), you must follow the instructions of the i-zoom Customer Care Center before using your tag again.

Whenever your i-zoom account balance reaches the Low Balance Point (a monetary value based on type of vehicle and number of tags assigned to that account) your credit card or bank account will be automatically charged the amount necessary to replenish your account. The Replenishment Amount is customized to your usage and is designed to limit the number of recharges in one month. If your account requires more than one replenishment in one month, the Replenishment Amount will be adjusted accordingly. Please be sure to notify us if your information changes as a failed replenishment can result in account fees and your tag becoming invalid. Payment on Your Account All consumer i-zoom accounts require Automatic Account Replenishment from either a credit card or checking account. 13 ALTERNATE I-ZOOM MOUNTING Details Some vehicles, including the list below, have a near optically clear metallic coating. The special coating can go by several names, including Solar Ray, Solar Tint, heat-reflected, Insulated or Insta-Clear. This coating should not be confused with the colored tint along the top of the windshield. The colored tint should have little to no effect on transponder performance. However, the special coating has a negative effect on the radio waves used by all E-ZPass compatible transponders. The effect varies from almost no effect to complete failure. If a transponder is not functioning as designed, it is most likely caused by the make-up of the windshield. If your vehicle is on the list below or has a windshield similar to the following diagrams, please install the transponder as per the instructions listed with the diagram. (When seated in the vehicle, if your windshield has a slightly noticeable level of clearness in any of the areas shown in the diagrams below, then that clear area is the optimal place to install your transponder.) If you need further assistance please call the i-zoom Customer Care Center, and we will make every attempt to assist you. Applicable vehicles include the following: BMW All series Buick Rendezvous Chevrolet Venture & Lumina as well as other GM products Mercedes All classes Oldsmobile Silhouette, Aztec & Montana as well as other GM products Pontiac Transport as well as other GM products Volvo All Jaguar All* Honda Odyssey* Any vehicles with similar windshield designs *Unknown alternate mounting location, some success in the lower corners of windshield
ALTERNATE I-ZOOM MOUNTING BMW (most) Mount the transponder just below the roofline and just to the driver s right of the Rain Sensor (if present). Buick Rendezvous & Pontiac Aztec Mount the transponder 2 left (on the DRIVER S side) of the rearview mirror, about 1 below the roofline. Chevrolet Venture, Oldsmobile Silhouette, Pontiac Montana, & Pontiac Transport The left edge of the transponder should be 13 to the right of the windshield center. The transponder top edge should be about 2 below the roof edge.
ALTERNATE I-ZOOM MOUNTING LOCATIONS, CONT. Mercedes (most) The preferred location for the transponder is to mount it just right of the windshield center and almost flush with the top of the windshield. An alternate location which may also be used, but may perform poorly in some situations, is to mount the transponder in the garage door opener aperture identified by Mercedes near the bottom of the windshield and 8 right of the center. Volvo (most) There is a clear region 8 high along the top of the windshield. Mount the transponder just to the right of the center within this band.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: What's ETC? A: Electronic Toll Collection is an automatic way to collect tolls through a device called a tag. ITR s tag is called i-zoom. When you go through the lane, the tag is read and your account is debited with the toll amount. Q: What other electronic tags are compatible with the i-zoom lanes? A: All I-PASS and E-ZPass electronic tags with valid accounts are accepted in i-zoom lanes. Q: I only use the toll road a few times a year; is it worth it to get an i-zoom tag? A: Yes. i-zoom is the fastest way to use E-ZPass toll roads from Illinois to Maine. For regular 2-axle passenger vehicles, i-zoom ETC saves money off the regular cash toll rate. Your valid 2-axle i-zoom tag will lock you into the previous i-zoom toll rates in effect since 1985 until Your account will not expire or go into an inactive state if you rarely use it. You can use your i-zoom tag in any of the other 14 (and growing) E-ZPass states, more than 20 toll roads, and enjoy any applicable discounts that may be available. Q: How does the i-zoom account pay my tolls? (Prepay only) A: The i-zoom system offers a pre-paid account for individuals. When you open an i-zoom account, your payment, minus deposit or shipping if applicable, is placed in your i-zoom account to pay your tolls each time you drive on a compatible toll road. When your account balance runs low, our i-zoom system automatically replenishes your i-zoom account from the form of payment you provided (approved credit card or checking account). Q: What happens during the first three months of my account? After? (Prepay, 2-axle class only) A: Typically when you open an account, $10 per i-zoom tag is placed in your account to pay your tolls. If you do not use up 75% of your opening balance prior to the first three full months of your account opening date, you will not be replenished during that period of time. If you do use more than 75% of your opening balance, your account will auto-replenish $10 per i-zoom tag on the account until the three months have expired. Our system uses this initial three-month time period to obtain an average of your monthly usage. After three months, your average monthly usage will replace the $10 amount our system used during the initial phase of your account.
In any case, you only get replenished based on your actual toll usages, and your remaining balance is continuously carried over to the next month. Q: Can I open an account without the automatic replenishment option? A: No, the only option for pre-paid accounts is to have an accepted form of payment on file. Manually replenishing your i-zoom account with cash, check or credit card is not available. Q: Does my balance or account expire? A: No. Your account will auto-replenish when it gets low, so even if you are an occasional user of the Indiana Toll Road, your i-zoom account will not expire due to inactivity. However, please be aware of the account fees outlined in these terms and conditions Q: Can I use i-zoom tag(s) in more than one vehicle? A: Yes, although it is not recommended. As long as it is the same class vehicle, you can share the i-zoom tag with other vehicles (maximum of 5 vehicles can share an i-zoom tag). You must first call the i-zoom Customer Care Center and register each vehicle to the i-zoom account. In the case of an unsuccessful toll transaction using the i-zoom tag(s), an unregistered vehicle may be subject to toll violations and fines, and must pay the full cash toll fare. Q: How much do i-zoom tag(s) cost? (Prepay, 2-axle class only) A: Personal 2-axle i-zoom tags are now an initial $10-$20 depending how the i-zoom transponder is purchased, i.e. retail outlet or over the phone. The $10 ($8 retail) you pay will be applied to your open balance of pre-paid tolls. Q: Stores are selling the i-zoom tags for $10. Why would I only have a $8 i-zoom balance? (Prepay, 2-axle class only) A: To cover administrative costs related to selling i-zoom tags, retail outlets apply a $2 retail service fee. The Indiana Toll Road does not receive any portion of this fee and provides many alternatives for purchasing i-zoom tags without this fee. Please refer to the All About i-zoom or the Questions & Answers sections at for more information. Q: Once I purchase my i-zoom tag, when can I start to use it? A: It can take up to five business days to receive your i-zoom tag via UPS or USPS Mail. Once you receive the i-zoom tag, or purchased it at a retail outlet, you must follow the activation instructions included with your package. Once activated, it can take as little as one to three hours for all 21 Indiana Toll Road Toll Plazas and Chicago Skyway toll lanes to receive the computer file containing your activation. It can take one to two days for all I-PASS and E-ZPass toll
states to receive the same activation. Until these time spans lapse, please use the cash lanes as usual. You can install your i-zoom tag as soon as you like and once your i-zoom tag is accepted in a cash lane, you can start to use the i-zoom Only lanes if you like. Q: Do I have to use a credit or debit card to replenish my account? A: No. You can also pay by automatic withdrawal from a checking account (ACH/EFT). Please refer to the Account Information section on Page 10 for more information. Do not send cash in the mail. Q: Can I add another vehicle to my account online? A: This option is currently not available to be updated or viewed online. If you are sharing a tag, you must register each vehicle to your i-zoom account by calling the i-zoom Customer Care Center at Mon-Thu 8am-5:30pm EST and Fri 8am- 2pm EST. A maximum of 5 vehicles may share an i- Zoom tag. Q: Why can't I view the individual tag balances on my account? A: If you have multiple i-zoom tags on your account, they share one account balance. You can still view individual transaction histories by tag and monthly toll usage. Q: Why has my replenishment rate and low balance changed? (Prepay, 2-axle class only) A: After 90 days of opening an i-zoom account, both single and multiple tag accounts replenish at a rate based on average monthly usage. Your account replenishment rate is based on the previous three months of usage on your account and is recalculated on the first of each month (minimum $10.) The minimum balance at which you replenish is 25% of your three-month average usage (minimum $2.50.) Q: Can I choose the replenishment amount on my i-zoom account? A: No. By default, your replenishment will be set according to the average of your prior three months of toll charges. This will ensure you have enough funds every month and minimize the number of bank or credit card auto-replenishments from your form of payment. Q: What credit cards do you accept for auto-replenishment? A: Credit and debit cards are accepted for auto-replenish only. We currently accept Master- Card, VISA and American Express. Gift cards will not be accepted. Q: What functions do I have in my account online? A: You can update your personal account and payment information, review current transactions and past statements and check your balance. From within your account you can also purchase
additional i-zoom tags, report an i-zoom tag lost or stolen and change your PIN. You cannot add additional vehicles to your i-zoom account (you can purchase more i-zoom tags, however) nor can you change your vehicle information. These functions are planned for the future! Q: Why was I charged a $25 rejected/declined payment fee? A: Whenever an i-zoom account replenishment is declined or rejected for any reason by your bank, our system automatically applies the fee to your i-zoom account to cover the bank fees and other i-zoom account updates that must happen to bring your account back in good standing. It is the customer s responsibility to keep the form of payment listed in the i-zoom account in good standing, valid and active. Q: How do I know how much my checking account or credit card will be charged every month? A: This amount is called the replenishment amount. This occurs when you have reached your Low Balance limit and see the Low Balance indicator in the toll lane. The amount is stated on the bottom lefthand corner of your monthly i-zoom statement. This amount can change monthly if your monthly toll average changes. Q: How do I close my account? A: Via certified mail, send your tag (wrapped in foil) with a letter requesting the i-zoom account be closed. Your balance and deposit (if applicable) will be refunded within days of receipt of the tag and request. If you do not return the i-zoom tag or it is in poor condition, you may be subject to forfeit your $10 deposit, if applicable. An agent may contact you to arrange a form of refund. Send the i-zoom tag(s) to: Indiana Toll Road i-zoom Customer Care Center Ash Road Granger, IN Q: Where can I use my i-zoom tag? A: You can use your i-zoom tag on the Indiana Toll Road, Illinois Tollway, Chicago Skyway and anywhere E-ZPass is accepted. Visit the E-ZPass Website for a complete listing of participating agencies and organizations. *The i-zoom tag(s) is not accepted at airports, parking lots and other non-roadway facilities that accept E-ZPass or E-ZPass Plus. Q: What should I do with my i-zoom tag once I receive/purchase it? A: Once you open the package: Verify all the information is correct You do not have to sign anything or return any forms. These forms are for your records
Retail purchasers must read the Terms and Conditions once you register or activate an i-zoom tag. If it is decided you do not agree with the terms as stated, it can take up to 90 days to refund your account balance Save the metallic read prevention bag the i-zoom tag was shipped in you may need this in the future. This bag can be used to ship or store your i-zoom tag when you do not want it to be read in toll lanes Activate the i-zoom tag per the instructions included with your package Correctly install your i-zoom tag according to the instructions included with your package Q: Do I have to stop at all tollbooth lanes in Indiana if I m using the i-zoom system? A: Yes. All traffic must obey the posted stop signs/ lights in these lanes. All lanes are gated so please drive cautiously. Q: If I use a manned tollbooth lane with my i-zoom tag, do I pay the cash price? A: No. You pay the i-zoom price whenever you use your activated and valid i-zoom tag on the Indiana Toll Road. Please make sure to keep a positive i-zoom balance by keeping your form of payment valid and up-to-date and mounting your i-zoom tag correctly. However, if your i-zoom tag does not read due to improper usage or installation, you will have to pay the full cash toll amount. Q: Can I use my i-zoom tag in multiple vehicles? In a rental car? A: Yes. You must register any vehicle using the tag to the i-zoom account. In the case of an unsuccessful toll transaction using the i-zoom tag, an unregistered vehicle may be subject to toll violations and fines and the driver will have to pay the full cash toll rate. This can only be done with a live agent by calling during regular office hours. Q: What happens if I forget my tag and accidentally use the i-zoom lanes? Can I pay the missed toll online? A: Don't forget your i-zoom tag! Since multiple i-zoom tags on one account share the full account balance, there is no true benefit to using one i-zoom tag for multiple vehicles. If you do forget your i-zoom tag, you will have to wait for a toll attendant for assistance and pay the full cash toll rate. Do not back up. Online payment for missed tolls is not yet available. You may pay missed tolls over the phone by calling during normal office hours or by mailing in a copy of your missed toll receipt along with a check made out to ITR Concession Company LLC. The address is on the receipt. You must pay the full cash toll rate. It is not possible to apply missed cash tolls to i-zoom accounts.
Q: Can I use my regular i-zoom tag when I occasionally tow a trailer or drive an RV? A: Yes. Our i-zoom technology will automatically calculate and deduct the proper toll. You do not need to use the cash lanes or purchase a special tag. You must register all vehicles to the i-zoom account. Q: Can I use i-zoom tag(s) on a motorcycle? A: Yes. However, there are no recommended installation locations and we cannot guarantee the functionality. We recommend using the cash lanes. Q: I received a Low Balance indication in a toll lane. I thought my account was automatically replenished, is there something wrong? A: No. Everything worked as planned and as long as you do not see this sign for more than one business day, then your account is in good standing. When i-zoom accounts go below the minimum balance amount, our system will show the Low Balance sign as a courtesy to our customers. The i-zoom account will collect from the form of payment on file overnight and if the bank approved the transaction, the i-zoom account will be fully replenished that next business day. The Low Balance sign is the only indication your i-zoom account will be replenished with the authorized form of payment listed in your i-zoom account. Q: I received an Invalid Tag sign. I thought my account was automatically replenished, is there something wrong? A: Yes, the Invalid Tag sign is an indication your i-zoom account is at or below $0.00. This can happen if your replenishment was rejected by your bank, your i-zoom tag was reported lost or stolen, your i-zoom tag has not yet been activated or fully activated or your account was closed. If this occurred, please call the i-zoom Customer Care Center at during regular business hours. Please note, any rejection by your bank will incur a $25 rejected/declined fee applied to your i-zoom account. Q: Why do I have to mount my tag on my windshield? A: This is mandatory for your safety and to ensure a successful toll transaction. Before the transaction takes place, the tag is activated on the approach to the plaza. Waiting until the last minute to find your tag or holding it in your window interferes with the transaction. A properly mounted i-zoom tag, I-PASS or E-ZPass tag will function more than 99% of the time. Not mounting, incorrectly mounting or holding the i-zoom tag WILL severely reduce its functionality or completely disable it. Q: Where can I get additional mounting strips? A: Mounting strips are available by visiting the i-zoom Customer Care Center or by calling
Q: How do I know if my tag is working? A: Please note the indicator signs near the gate on the left side of the toll booth lane. Your i-zoom tag worked correctly if the indicator sign stated: i-zoom accepted Low Balance Invalid Tag If Invalid Tag was indicated, then you must call (i-zoom customers only) because there is an issue with your account, such as no funds. Any other signal indication or lack thereof means your i-zoom tag was not read. A toll attendant will need to assist you to allow passage. Please call the i-zoom Customer Care Center for correct installation location for your particular vehicle. A properly mounted i-zoom tag, I-PASS or E-ZPass tag will function more than 99% of the time for five to 10 years. Not mounting, incorrectly mounting or holding the i-zoom tag will reduce its function or completely disable it. Q: What do I do if my tag is not working? A: There is a non-user replaceable battery in the i-zoom tag. It is designed to last at least five years. The primary reason for an i-zoom tag to not work properly is incorrect usage or installation. i-zoom tags MUST be installed correctly to function. If the i-zoom Customer Care Center concludes your i-zoom tag has malfunctioned, you will need to swap your tag for a new unit. This exchange can be done in person or by mail. Please refer to the Customer Service section of for locations and hours. To exchange your tag by certified mail, wrap it in foil and send it with a letter requesting an exchange to the address below. A new unit will be shipped upon receipt of your old tag. Send Tag to: Indiana Toll Road i-zoom Customer Care Center Ash Road Granger, IN Q: Can I use my i-zoom tag on other toll roads? A: You can use your i-zoom tag on any toll road that accepts E-ZPass or I-PASS. Please refer to for a listing. Q: Do I have to do anything to use my i-zoom tag on other toll roads? A: As long as your i-zoom tag is activated and installed at least 24 hours prior to your out-of-state travels, then you do not have to anything just enjoy your trip! Q: Do I get a discounted toll fare on other toll roads? A: Please check facilities.shtml for any information regarding toll rates.
Q: What do I do if my i-zoom tag was charged incorrectly on another toll road? A: Please call and we will dispute your charge with the other toll road on your behalf. Other toll roads never have access to your i-zoom account and are unable to refund or credit your i-zoom account. Q: What other toll roads will accept my i-zoom tag? A: Please click on info/facilities.shtml. Refer to this from time to time as more states and roads are added. Q: Do I still have to grab a ticket when entering the Indiana Toll Road? A: Please proceed to take the ticket and present it to a toll collector when you exit. The toll collector can reproduce your entry point and charge your tag the correct toll charge at that time. Please check your account to verify this transaction. If the transaction is incorrect, then call your I-PASS/E-ZPass agency to dispute the transaction. Your agency will contact the i-zoom Customer Service Center on your behalf.
