2 Welcome from Onondaga Community College Dr. Casey Crabill President, Onondaga Community College On behalf of everyone at Onondaga Community College, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the National Diversity Council s 3rd Annual Tri-State College Diversity Summit. We are proud to serve as the host for this important event. The theme for this year s event Preparing Tomorrow s Workplace resonates with all of us at Onondaga. We remain committed to building strong workforce development programs that provide opportunities not only for our students, but for the larger Syracuse community. We are excited to welcome business representatives from SRC, National Grid, RPO, Talent Acquisition, Recruitment Services, Public Strategies LLC, Aerotek, MACNY, and CH2M HILL, as well as our partners in Higher Education including Syracuse University, RIT and Finger Lakes Community College. Onondaga is proud to host this event for the 3rd year, and to have a number of our own faculty and staff participating in today s activities. We appreciate the time and energy they bring not only to this Summit, but to their own work at Onondaga. They reinforce daily our mission to celebrate diversity and inclusiveness in everything we do. 3 Welcome From The chairs As the co-chairs of the Tri-State Diversity Council s 3rd Annual College Diversity Summit, it is our pleasure to welcome you to Onondaga Community College. We thank all of the sponsors and individuals who made this event possible. We appreciate the efforts of the Tri-State Diversity Council for creating opportunities to discuss and explore the importance of diversity, inclusion and leadership development. This summit aims to foster a dialogue among students, universities, and employers, with the goal of promoting a collaborative multicultural society that acknowledges the value of diversity and inclusion. We hope that the insights that our panelists share today will strengthen the essential leadership skills that students need to thrive in a professional world and work in innovative ways with individuals of diverse ethnicities, cultures and backgrounds. Through this summit, students can interact with a network of organizational representatives who recognize the importance of leadership, learn keys to implementing successful leadership skills and learn more about leadership best practices from an impressive array of professionals. Today s agenda includes our outstanding keynote speakers, a selection of panel sessions which will be accepting your questions and opportunities for networking.
