5 The s of South Texas Health System South Texas Health System contracts with the Veterans Administration to provide inpatient, emergency and behavioral health care services to Veterans living in South Texas. 14 beds Cornerstone provides advanced, specialized care in an intimate environment that encourages interaction between families and physicians. The hospital provides a full array of hospital services as well as specialty service lines that include general and neurological surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, gastroenterology, pain management, ear, nose and throat and many more beds The first freestanding pediatric hospital in the Rio Grande Valley, Children s is equipped with advanced diagnostic and medical technology and the region s only exclusive pediatric emergency department. The hospital opened dedicated asthma rooms in 2010 to help kids and parents better understand and manage asthma. The Asthma Program is the first program of its kind in Texas certified by The Joint Commission and it features centralized pulse oximetry monitoring units.
