1 Greetings, You recently received an from the Microsoft Developer s Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA). This program allows eligible students to download many useful software packages, at no charge. The information below is a step-by-step approach to accessing, selecting, and downloading this software.

2 Step 1: Start by going to this will bring you to the above Log In page. SPECIAL NOTE: The software installers can be quite large. It is suggested that you do this procedure on campus computers, as the download times will be much quicker. Please have a large USB key or recordable DVDs ready. If you are using recordable DVDs, make sure the computer you are using is capable of writing DVDs.

3 Step 2: Select Log In and use the Username and Password given to you in the MSDN signup you received.

4 Step 3: Pick the software you wish to download and Click GO.

5 Step: 4 Some software is only available for download, while other packages will also have the option to have install disks shipped for a fee. The following instructions are to guide you through using the Download option. ALL DOWNLOADS ARE FREE. Make sure Download is selected and click Add to Cart

6 Step 5: Please read and make sure you understand the Terms and Conditions. Click I Agree to continue.

7 Step 6: For the next step, click Check Out.

8 Step 7: Now you will need to fill in your Last Name, First Name and Address. It is suggested that you use the same address that is registered with the MSDN Academic Alliance. Subscribing to the MSDN Student Flash is your choice. Click Next to continue.

9 Step 8: Now your order is complete and you should receive a confirmation shortly. Next you will need to click the word Download under Item.

10 NOTE: PLEASE PRINT THIS PAGE AND KEEP FOR YOUR RECORDS. IT HAS THE SERIAL NUMBER THAT IS NEEDED DURING THE SOFTWARE INSTALL. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE IT AT THAT TIME, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO INSTALL THE SOFTWARE. THIS SERIAL NUMBER GIVES YOU ABILITY TO INSTALL THE SOFTWARE ON ONE COMPUTER. AFTER THIS STEP, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE NUMBER AGAIN. Step 9: After printing this page or noting copying down the serial number, select Download

11 Step 10: The following dialog box will appear. This is not the actual software package. At this point you need to click RUN. Step 11: You are likely to see this window next. Again click RUN

12 Step 12: After a brief moment you will see the above window. THIS IS WHERE THE SOFTWARE WILL BE SAVED. Remember the location you pick. It is not a bad idea to leave it at C:\Temp.

13 Step 13: Wait for the download to complete. If you are off campus, this could be quite some time.

14 Step 14: IF YOU ARE ON A CAMPUS COMPUTER, DO NOT SELECT LAUNCH INSTALL. Only select this option if you are on the computer where you want to install the software. Press the X to close out the window.

15 Step 15: Now go to My Computer and browse to the location you specified in Step 12. In this example, it is the C drive and the Temp directory. In the directory you will now see a folder created by the Download Process. Open this folder.

16 Step 16a: Some folders will look like above where everything is just like you would see on the disk. In this case move everything to your on your flash drive or your Writeable DVD. If the folder does not look like the above, continue to the next step.

17 Step 16b : If you see a single file, something like the above, then this is a Disk Image File. You will need to burn this Image file (or ISO file) to a DVD or CD, depending on size. If you are on campus and have a memory key, you will need to move the.iso (file) to your memory key and go to a computer that can write to CDs or DVD. Most files like above will have the letters DVD in the file name. Also if the file is large like the one above, then a DVD is required. Students/faculty may request an additional product key when they are installing a product which has a unique product code per user. If a user wants to install one of these products twice (e.g. home computer and laptop), then he/she will need a second product key in order to install on the second computer.
