1 Overview This document will serve as a quick setup guide to get the AuthAnvil Password Solutions virtual hard drive setup with Windows Hyper-V and Oracle Virtual Box. Downloading the VHD The VHD is separated into a series of WinRar files; they can be downloaded from the following page: (Note: All of these files are required) Extracting the VHD Now that the files have been downloaded we can extract the VHD using the following steps: 1. Launch AuthAnvil Trial VM.part01.exe 2. Review and select the Accept button. 3. Set the destination folder and select the Extract. The extraction process may take a few minutes, so you might want to grab a coffee! 4. The VHD package will be in your destination folder, ready for mounting. Hyper-V Mounting the VHD Now that we have extracted the VHD we will mount it in Hyper-V: 1. Launch Hyper-V. (Note: If you do not have Hyper-V installed, it can be added in the Server Manager, under Roles. You can also check out the TechNet Getting Started guide: 2. Import the virtual machine by selecting the Import Virtual Machine option: 3. Select the VHD folder within the destination folder to where the VHD was extracted. 1 P a g e

2 Note: The extracted folder will contain two folders: Virtual Hard Disks and Virtual Machines. We want to select the folder that contains these two folders. Click on Select Folder. 4. We can now Import by VHD s into Hyper-V by selecting Import : (If Hyper-V gives any warnings select the Close option, they are expected) 5. The VHD is now mounted in Hyper-V Using the Evaluation VHD Now that the VHD and VM have been added to Hyper-V we can spin it up: 2 P a g e

3 1. In the Hyper-V Virtual Machine panel right click on the evaluation virtual machine and select Start : 2. Double click the evaluation virtual machine to open a RDP session 3. Hit the button (Ctrl+Alt+Del) in the top right corner to bring up the login: 4. For the Windows login use the following credentials for the Demo Admin account: Username: Admin Password: P@ssw0rd! (number zero, not the letter O ) 5. The documentation on the VM will continue to guide you through the use of AuthAnvil Password Solutions. Enjoy! Oracle VirtualBox Mounting the VHD Now that we have extracted the VHD we will mount it using Oracle VirtualBox: 1. Launch VirtualBox. (Note: VirtualBox can be downloaded for free at 2. 4 3. Type in a name and set the type to Microsoft Windows and Version to Windows 2008 (64 bit) 4. Select next, and set your memory size, we recommend 4096 MB for best performance (2048 MB minimum). 5. Select next and check the Do not add virtual hard drive radio button. 6. Select Create and Continue on the dialog that will pop up. 7. Now we have to attach the VHD by selecting the VM and selecting the Settings option. 8. 5 9. In the pop up dialog box select Choose existing disk and browse to the extracted VHD folder and select the VHD 10. Select the OK button Using the Evaluation VHD Now that the VHD and VM have been added to VirtualBox we can spin it up: 1. Now that we are back at the VirtualBox Manager window we can select the AuthAnvil Evaluation VM and select the Start button. 2. A VirtualBox VM window will open and we can execute a Ctrl+Alt+Del command by selecting the Machine dropdown and selecting the Insert Ctrl+Alt+Del option. 3. For the Windows login use the following credentials for the Demo Admin account: Username: Admin Password: P@ssw0rd! (number zero, not the letter O ) 4.
