3 For Free Where To Invest Your Money Now High Return Investments Trade Alerts Go To: PrincetonResearch.com/alerts.htm BEWARE...MID-TERM ELECTION WEEK!!! Week 43 showed another gain of $726, bringing YTD performance up to $13,030. We only have two carryover positions, DD 11/67.50 calls, and PPO 11/40 calls using $1,080. As we all know, often politicians are liars and thieves, but some of us are comfortable with "our" liars and thieves. This is the bi-yearly installment and as always, the market will be nervous Monday and Tuesday since at least theoretically there is a high degree of uncertainty. If you couple that with the explosive moves to new highs and the over-extended nature of the indexes, we might become concerned that with all of the buying that has taken place since the bounce off the lows just days ago there might not be much left on the upside. However, this is a seasonally strong period and several indicators like the put/call ratio are nowhere near danger levels. One of the ways I look for new trades is to switch from daily to weekly charts. It is astounding to me the number of charts that while having rallied strongly, are not overbought. Many of these longer term views show a complete "work-off" of the excesses of the prior six months and the foundation to weather a short term pullback to support and put in another advance. The only way I see to control risk without some sideways action is to keep positions smaller than usual and to rely on trailing stops....cam NOTE: This is a Sample Issue Only! The stock positions were profitable gaining $ 1,224. For the full year to date we have gains of $ 36,653. Profits were substantial, while open position losses amount to $5,710. The Stock table has the following remaining 12 positions: AA, AAPL (2), FCX, GSG, NBG (3), REPR, RPTP, TEXQY, XRGYF The options call for a $ 2,500 investment unless otherwise stated; each stock position requires $5,000 unless specifically stated. We are basing money management on a hypothetical $ 100,000 and are using $ 38,001 in12 stock positions and one written call option. The two option long positions, 8 PPO and 10 DD, require $ 1,600 totaling $ 39,601 with $ 60,399 in cash. These figures are approximate. We do not count commission costs and there may be errors. Executions that have occurred at or near the open or close of trading sometimes vary from our actual numbers. For example, when something opens down and it is through our price, we take the next trade whether it is an uptick or continues lower. This sometimes results in a 50% trade that is slightly above or below the exact number. For Free Where To Invest Your Money Now Princeton Research Market Strategies Newsletter P a g e 7

The Federal Reserve announced the end of its landmark bond buying program last Wednesday. At the same time the Federal Open Market Committee ( FOMC ) said the central bank would maintain the current near zero interest rates for a considerable period of time following the end of its quantitative easing. Everyone expected this action and many had expected some negativity to develop in equities. However, the Bank of Japan stepped in at a level much to everyone s surprise. Specifically, the BOJ raised its goal for the expansion of its monetary base to 80 trillion yen ( $ 720 billion ) from 60 trillion yen. In addition, Japan s $ 1.1 trillion pension fund said it would shift its portfolio strongly into equities. Their plan is to reduce the allocation of capital in domestic bonds from 60% currently to a goal of 35% and to invest in stocks both in Japan and globally. The Yen currency weakened from under 108 to the dollar to 112, a 2.5% drop in its currency value which is equivalent to a $ 1,500 price cut on a $ 60,000 Lexus. Stocks in Japan jumped 7%, Friday, its highest level since The dollar soared again to 86.92, a gain of 1.4% for the week. As the greenback gets stronger foreign competition will become more pronounced and a possible headwind for industrials. Last week the XLI Consumer Industrial ETF rose 2.8%, while the XLF, the Financial ETF ( ) gained 3.2% to lead all groups. Both the Utility ETF ( XLU )and Energy ETF ( XLE ) gained 2.1%. The XLF has gained 305%, from its low of 5.88 May 2009, when the beleaguered financial markets were at the depths of despair. Now, the financial world waits on Europe, just what kind of response they can handle. Market Strategies Economic Data Advance estimates of 3 rd Qtr 2014 GDP were above expectations of 3.0%. Real final sales rose 4.2% after increasing 3.2% in the second quarter This was the largest increase since final sales grew by the same amount 4 th Qtr There will be concerns whether the strong dollar will retard further growth. The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index jumped to 94.5 in October from an upwardly revised 89.0 (from 86.0) in September. The sharp rise was a bullish surprise to the markets. Consumer Confidence is now at its strongest level since October Numbers remain well below those of the year 2000, when Expectations were 120 and Present Conditions above 170. Stock markets move higher in conjunction with more confidence. The unemployment rate, grocery and gasoline prices all have an effect and are moving in the right direction. Princeton Research Market Strategies Newsletter P a g e 11

12 The Present Situation Index increased to 93.7 in October from 93.0 in September. The Expectations Index rose from 86.4 in September to 95.0 in October. The sharp increase in consumer confidence does not necessarily mean consumption growth will accelerate. Consumption is reliant on income and not confidence. As long as the labor market continues to improve, consumption growth should follow. Income gains are the main catalyst for spending, yet rising levels of confidence over time tend to help on the margin. 16 November Almanac: Usually A Top-Performing Month in Any Year By Jeffrey A. Hirsch & Christopher Mistal November maintains its status among the top performing months as fourth-quarter cash inflows from institutions drive November to lead the best consecutive three-month span November-January. The month has taken hits during bear markets and November 2000, down 22.9% (undecided election and a nascent bear), was NASDAQ s second worst month on record only October 1987 was worse. November begins the Best Six Months for the DJIA and S&P 500, and the Best Eight Months for NASDAQ. Small caps come into favor during November, but don t really take off until the last two weeks of the year. November is the number-three DJIA and S&P 500 month since Since 1971, November ranks third for NASDAQ. November is second best for Russell 1000 and Russell 2000 third best since In midterm years, November s market prowess is relatively unchanged. DJIA has advanced in 12 of the last 16 midterm years since 1950 with an average gain of 2.5%. S&P 500 has also been up in 12 of the past 16 midterm years, gaining on average 2.7%. Small-caps perform well with Russell 2000 climbing in 6 of the past 8 midterm years, averaging 3.9%. The only real blemish in the November midterm-year record is 1974 (DJIA 7.0%, bear market ended in December). Options expiration often coincides with the week before Thanksgiving. DJIA posted ten straight gains and has been up 16 of the last 21 weeks before Thanksgiving. The Monday of expiration week had been streaky with the DJIA up five straight, , during the bulk of the last 20th Century bull market, down five in a row, , up three, , but has been mixed since 2007, up three and down four. The net result is a bearish down 9 times in the last 15 years. Options expiration day has a clearly bullish bias, up 10 of the last 12.
