2 What We Do For Districts: Save districts money For Teachers: Provide professional development opportunities to continuously sharpen their saw For Students: Prepare students for careers and college Assess students academic progress Recommend academic credit to high schools Provide valuable work experiences Opportunities to earn college credit during high school

4 District Allocations Oakland Schools distributed $1,260,000 from the county-wide vocational millage to the 28 local school districts to support personnel and other costs of delivering career development activities. Oakland Schools also distributed another $1,603,425 to the districts for CTE programs.
5 Districts Save Money (MOIS) software purchased regionally for districts provided benefit at a value of $4,620. Career Cruising software (including Course Planner for 18 districts and Spanish Translation for 11 districts) purchased regionally for districts provided benefit at a value of $73,260. Bridges software purchased regionally for districts provided benefit at a value of $22,200. ACT Explore for 8th graders and ACT Plan for 10th graders for assessment costs totaled $235,746. CDX Automotive software was distributed to seven districts (eight high schools) providing a value of $27,438. Virtual Business-Retailing 3.0 software was provided to 20 districts at a value of $14,955.
6 Districts Save Money (continued) KeyTrain interactive training system for career readiness skills yielded a savings to the districts of $145,000. Microsoft Office Specialist certification examinations and In- Demand pretesting software were provided for 15 high schools, saving the schools $46,000. CTE Assessment Tests provided CTE grant funding to 23 districts for Accounting, Health Sciences and Business, Management, & Administration CTE programs, providing a value of $23,333. Transportation reimbursement back to the districts (82% of actual cost) provided a cost savings of $2,000,000 for transporting students to the Oakland Schools Technical Campuses.
7 District FTE Savings During the school year, the combined.5 Foundation Allowance retained by the local districts (the average district foundation allowance of $8,683 x.5 count day enrollment) totaled: $13,328,405 for the first semester $12,711,912 for the second semester
8 It Really Adds Up Added together, in , the variety of Oakland Schools Career Focused Education efforts saved the districts $29,220,308.
