Where is Redlands? o The city of Redlands, California is approximately 115km east of Los Angeles, and 70km west of Palm Springs. It is a small city of 70,000 and is home to both the University of Redlands, and to geographic information systems (GIS) giant Esri. Surrounded by the mountains of the San Bernardino National Forest and in close proximity to Joshua Tree National Park, Redlands is a picturesque town just an hour away from the beach, LA, the mountains and the desert. Is there a scholarship available? o Yes. For those eligible students, there may be up to 15% off of the tuition.

2 How long does the program take? o Students have the option of a One Year or Two Year program Can I get an internship or job? o While an internship or job cannot be guaranteed, students have full use of the Professional Development Office on campus which does often supply internship and job interviewing opportunities. Additional services from this office include: o Focus II Online Assessment and Planning o Professional Coaching o Internship and Employment Strategies o Resume, Cover Letter and Personal Statement Critiques o Employment and Interview Preparation o Workshops and Class/Group Presentations o UR Professional Network of Alumni, Parents and Friends When do I need to arrive in the US? o Students will need to arrive a week before classes begin in order to attend orientation. Who will be my point of contact at the University? o Director of International Recruitment. brianj@redlands.edu What are the application requirements? o Completed online application o Transcripts from all institutions where you earned a degree; transcript(s) must be evaluated by IERF (instructions on application)

3 o 500-word Essay (instructions on application) o CV or resume o Additional recommendations (optional) o TOEFL score for applicants whose primary language is not English Do I need to take the GMAT or GRE? o The GMAT and GRE are not required. Do I need to take the TOEFL or IELTS? o A TOEFL minimum score of 213 for the computer-based test or 80 for the Internet-based test is required for international students whose primary language is not English. o An IELTS minimum score of 6.5 will also satisfy the language requirement. How many courses will I take? o The MBA and MSIT consist of courses. o Students take one or two classes per term. Each term is 8 weeks long. o Classes are held in the evening from 6-10 pm and some Saturdays How many students in my classes? o MBA and MSIT classes are capped at 30. Will I need to obtain a visa? o Yes. International students studying in the U.S. need an F-1 visa. When is the deadline to apply? o There are different deadlines for each term. 4 Where will I live? o You may choose to live in University of Redlands housing or find housing in one of the many apartment buildings close to campus. o University Housing: In apartments within walking distance of campus. Apartments are furnished, and most are 2-bedroom apartments, with kitchens, shared by 2 to 4 students. Students may prepare their own meals or purchase meals on campus in our state of the art dining facility offering non-vegetarian and vegetarian meals. Students may use University shuttles for transportation into town for shopping, movies, restaurants, etc. Students must provide a down payment prior to arrival if they wish to secure housing. Are student services provided? o Yes, students will be assigned to a Student Services Manager who assists students with academic schedules, course changes, and tutoring requests. o The University s Armacost Library offers full academic library services on campus and via the Internet.

5 o The Office of Diversity and Inclusion serves as a catalyst to the campus community on matters related to diversity, multicultural programming and cultural pluralism. Is there a mentoring program? o Yes. The School of Business mentoring program provides students with an opportunity to be paired with a seasoned professional often a University Alumni to help students fulfill their professional and personal aspirations, build self-confidence and support overall academic and career success. Why should I do an accelerated (12 month) program? o Students who wish to earn their MBA or MSIT in one year do so in an accelerated format. This full-time, focused study format gives students a concentrated opportunity to develop and hone their business skills, to participate in mentorship and corporate visit programs, and to enhance English skills. Do I need to purchase my own books? o Yes. Book information and where to purchase is ed to you 4 weeks prior to the start of your program so you have enough time to prepare. Do I need to purchase health insurance? o All international students are required to purchase and maintain health insurance throughout the duration of their academic program at the University of Redlands. The University strongly recommends that students review their health insurance policies to ensure their policy provides

6 coverage/benefits to the health care facilities located near their campus location. o All currently enrolled students can use the Student Health Center regardless of their insurance. Medical visits are free; however, there is a charge for lab tests, immunizations, and prescription medications. The Student Health Center does not process or bill insurance Minimum Health Insurance Requirement for o To satisfy program requirements, you must purchase and maintain health and emergency evacuation insurance during your entire program that meets the minimum standards set by the University of Redlands with respect to the following: Medical benefits: at least US $100,000 per person per accident or illness Repatriation of remains: US $25,000 Medical evacuation: US $50,000 Deductibles not exceeding US $500 per accident or illness International students enrolled in a School of Business program have the option of purchasing their own insurance or enrolling in the University of Redlands Student Health Insurance plan (SHIP).
