4 Kindergarten Language Arts K CEDARS Code: #80000 COURSE LENGTH: Two semesters The Kindergarten Language Arts class encourages students to learn new vocabulary, develop fluency and begin to expand their newfound reading comprehension skills. Through a series of reading, writing and learning based activities; students will explore the alphabet, principals/fundamentals of print, learn the different parts of a book and much more to help them on their way to understanding the basics of language arts. Mathematics K CEDARS Code: #80000 COURSE LENGTH: Two semesters The Kindergarten Math class is dedicated to introducing students to the wonderful world of math. Through a series of learning based activities, students will begin to develop the knowledge of patterns, sorting, shapes and how to describe positional relationships. Furthermore, students will be instructed on counting, grouping, different ways to represent numbers, how to compare and contrast numbers and so much more as they work to understand the foundations of math.

7 2nd Grade Language Arts 2 CEDARS Code: #80000 COURSE LENGTH: Two semesters The 2 nd grade Language Arts class encourages students to explore high frequency words, demonstrate knowledge of vowels, the sounds of vowels, and how to apply their new knowledge to reading. Through a series of reading, writing and learning based activities; students will build on their knowledge of high frequency words and fluency with an emphasis on speed and accuracy. Students will also begin working on inflection, reviewing punctuation, context clues and much more to help them on their way to understanding language arts. 9 3rd Grade Language Arts 3 CEDARS Code: #80000 The 3 rd grade Language Arts class encourages students to explore synonyms, antonyms, analyzing and determining the correct meaning of a word and work to understand idioms. Through a series of reading, writing and learning based activities students will build on their knowledge of comprehension in order to enhance their ability to comprehend written text, learn about the nuances of plot, theme, sequential order and much more to help them on their way to understanding language arts. Students will be instructed on the process of scientific investigation, energy, force and motion, and the effects of the shape of the earth. Students will also learn the basics of ecology, how living organisms interact with their environment, understanding light and sound, the basics of Astronomy and will discover the Mesozoic eras on Earth. Social Studies 3 CEDARS Code: #80000 The 3 rd grade Social Studies class works to instruct students on the characteristics, culture and influence of the Vikings, the way of life of the Alaskan Inuits, learning about the world in spatial terms by learning/describing the major physical features of Earth s surface and will examine the history of the United States during its early years. Students will also learn about people, events, and characteristics or rural, urban and suburban regions, work to understand the concepts of economics, characteristics of citizenship/roles of the government and so much more.

Students will identify reasons for European exploration and colonization of the Americas; trace the social, political, and economic transformations of the English colonies from the 1600s to the eve of the war for independence. Students will also examine specific influences that ultimately influenced American character, examine issues around economics, politics, and expansion in the early 19th century, and examine the opportunities and conflicts that arose over westward expansion during the first half of the 19th century and much more. Fuel Education (Online) Students enhance computational and problem-solving skills while learning topics in algebra, geometry, probability, and statistics. They solve expressions and equations in the context of perimeter, area, and volume problems while further developing computational skills with fractions and decimals. The study of plane and solid figures includes construction and transformations of figures. Also in the context of problem solving, students add, subtract, multiply, and divide positive and negative integers and solve problems involving ratios, proportions, and percent's, including simple and compound interest, rates, discount, tax, and tip problems. They learn multiple representations for communicating information, such as graphs on the coordinate plane, statistical data and displays, as well as the results of probability and sampling experiments. Pre-Algebra CEDARS Code: COURSE LENGTH: Math 6 Course or equivalent Two semesters b. Fuel Education (Online) In this course, students take a broader look at computational and problem-solving skills while learning the language of algebra. Students extend their understanding of ratio to develop an understanding of proportions and solve problems including scale drawings, percent increase and decrease, simple interest, and tax. Students extend their understanding of numbers and properties of operations to include rational numbers. Signed rational numbers are contextualized and students use rational numbers in constructing expressions and solving equations. Students derive formulas and solve twodimensional area problems including the area of composite figures.

28 6-8 Grade Math Algebra CEDARS Code: Successful Completion of Math 7 or equivalent. A. Fuel Education (Online) B. Compass Learning Odyssey (Online) Students deepen their computational and problem-solving fluency through topics in linear relationships, functions, and geometry. Proportions are understood as special linear equations in which the constant of proportionality is the slope. Students also consider the fit of bivariate data with linear models. Students solve systems of two linear equations in two variables and relate those solutions to a representation in the coordinate plane. Functions are understood as a rule that determine a unique output for every input. Students apply functions and are able to translate between various representations. Geometry delves into translations, rotations, reflections, and dilations in the coordinate plane. Students also consider the angles created by the transversal of parallel lines. The Pythagorean Theorem is explored.

29 Electives 7th Grade ART CEDARS Code COURSE LENGTH: One Semester A. Fuel Education (Online) Journey through time and place while examining some of the greatest masterpieces created. In this course, students will explore world regions and study the unique artifacts and works of architecture that define ancient civilizations. From Mesopotamia, the world s first civilization, to the Roman streets of Pompeii, participants will learn the fundamental concepts of art, how to look at and evaluate art, and the intended function of natural history museums through hands-on activities, discussions, written assignments, and objective assessments. 8th Grade ART CEDARS Code COURSE LENGTH: One Semester A. Fuel Education (Online) Journey through time and place while examining some of the greatest masterpieces created. In this course, students will explore world regions and study the unique art and architecture that defines modern-day civilizations. From Picasso to Hiroshige, participants will learn the fundamental concepts of art, how to look at and evaluate art, and where to find educational resources for the study of art history and applied arts through hands-on activities, discussions, written assignments, and objective assessments.

Fuel Education (Online) In this course, students will learn about various careers that are available today and complete self-evaluations to determine which careers are most interesting to them. Assignments, including research and interviews, will help give students a hands-on approach to creating a plan for the future. 6th Grade Health CEDARS Code COURSE LENGTH: One Semester A. Fuel Education (Online) This course is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to make healthy choices throughout one s lifetime. Students will gain valuable health information and learn healthy, proactive practices. Students will have an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in healthy decision-making, problem solving, goal setting, and effective communication and refusal negotiation. Students will acquire the skills necessary to recognize unhealthy and risky behaviors, manage peer pressure, and develop strategies for improving personal and community health. Students will gain an understanding of the many different influences on one s health and the interrelationships that occur between mental, physical, social, spiritual and environmental health.

Students will learn health information and practices, as well as experience implementing their newfound skills and knowledge.
