2 What is cloud computing? The official definition "Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction" National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), an agency of the US Department of Commerce
3 What is cloud computing? Let s break it down In it s basic form: It s the internet but as a platform for business or consumer engagement. NIST lists 3 such service areas over the internet: Infrastructure, Platform, and Software With 4 ways to deliver them: Privately, to Communities, Publicly, and as a Hybrid
4 What is cloud computing? In an easy-to-digest form please? Cloud computing : Is a way of providing IT services on a pay-peruse basis. Delivers IT resources on-demand, is readily scalable, utility-based, & accessible from anywhere with internet! Covers everything from providing infrastructure, by replacing physical servers, through to delivering software in an as-a-service model.
5 Cloud Service Providers Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) You can forego buying expensive servers that need to be maintained & updated. Your hardware usage can grow on demand. It is cheap to run and you only pay for what you use. It is reliable and secure.
6 Cloud Service Providers Platform as a Service (PaaS) You might have paid for your Cloud Compute Instances on Amazon, but you still need a team of guys to manage your software. IaaS alone is simply not enough! PaaS providers give you easyto-use online tools to manage your software and also usually come with their own Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) too!
7 Cloud Service Providers Software as a Service (SaaS) SaaS is a software distribution model in which software applications are made available to businesses and consumers over the Internet. SaaS providers give you easyto-use online software services at low cost because SaaS providers try to take advantage of economies of scale.

9 Software as a Service (SaaS) Who do you Task? SaaS products are utilities to help you with your work operations. So who do you get to use them? The Workforce The Public Some tasks have to be done by experts. But they have other important jobs. Is there any way I can task non-work folk? If so how?

Live capture of underground assets and their state of health. (Time, GPS, and Images) Can logon to online services Satisfaction in playing a free game with an online hall of fame. Helps to digitize books around the world. Helps organisations digitize anything from books to handwritten medical forms
