Newton Veterinary Hospital Scholarship 1. Must be a current SCCC student and plan to pursue a Veterinary Technician or Pre- Veterinary program. 2. Must be a Sussex County resident. 3. Must have a minimum SCCC GPA of 2.0, preference given to student with an SCCC GPA of 2.5 or higher. 4. Must be used for tuition and/or fees. Must include an essay, 2 pages double spaced. Topic: Discuss a visit to a veterinary office from the animals perspective and how you, as a Veterinary Technician, can insure that the experience is pleasant. Open to SCCC students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. 2. Must be matriculated in one of SCCC s program offerings. 4. Monies must be used for tuition only unless the student is in his/her final semester and needs the scholarship for fees and books. Dr. William and Mary Apetz Scholarship 2. Must have an SCCC GPA of 3.0 or higher. Eastern Propane Scholarship 1. Must be a Sussex County resident. Faculty Federation Scholarship 2. Must have an SCCC GPA of 3.5 or higher, with no grade of D or F on transcript. 3. Minimum of 12 credits earned at SCCC. 4. Must show College and/or Community service. Foundation for Sussex County Community College Medallion Scholarship 1. Must be a current SCCC student with an SCCC GPA of 2.75 or higher, or an incoming freshman in the top 25% of his/her graduating class. Incoming students must submit a copy of their High School grades with application. 9

10 Franklin Mutual Insurance Scholarship 1. Must be a Sussex County resident. 2. Must be a full-time student. 3. Must have an SCCC GPA of 2.5 or higher. 4. Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need. (See #3 of the Scholarship Application Procedure instructions concerning required financial Hampton Rotary Club Scholarship 1. Must be a resident of Hampton Township. 3. Must have community service involvement. Please include examples in application. The Hampton Township Fire & Rescue Department: Deputy Chief Daniel Rumsey Memorial Scholarship 1. Must be a resident of Hampton Township or a member of the fire department in good standing. 2. Must have an SCCC GPA of 3.0 or higher. 3. Must have a history of community service or volunteerism. Please provide examples in your essay. Jack Kurlander Memorial Foundation Endowment Scholarship 1. Must be an incoming SCCC student. 2. Must have a high school academic of B average or better. 3. Must be an employee of Crystal Springs Resort. John Cocula Memorial Scholarship (Special application necessary See attached form) 1. Must be a Vernon Township resident planning to attend SCCC. 2. The scholarship is available to any non-traditional student who is presently attending or planning to attend SCCC on a full time or part time basis. 3. Must be a registered Republican voter. 4. The John Cocula Memorial Scholarship is not administered by the Scholarship Committee. Students interested in applying for this scholarship MUST fill out the special application included on the Scholarship Application Procedure page and follow the instructions on that application. Joseph M. McNally Memorial Scholarship 1. Must be an incoming SCCC student. 10

11 Lakeland Bank Charities Scholarship 1. Must have an SCCC GPA of 2.5 or higher. Nancy Eigner Endowment Scholarship 1. Must be a current full-time or part-time SCCC student and a Sussex County resident. 2. Must be matriculated in a degree program (not a certificate) and have earned at least 12 credits. New Jersey Firefighters / Police Foundation Endowment Scholarship 1. Must be a New Jersey resident. 2. Must be a New Jersey firefighter/police officer or a dependent or immediate family member of a New Jersey firefighter or police officer. 3. Priority to award scholarship monies: First Priority: a New Jersey firefighter or police officer disabled in the line of duty, or a dependent or immediate family member of a NJ firefighter or police officer killed or disabled in the line of duty; Second Priority: a New Jersey firefighter or police officer disabled other than in the line of duty or a dependent or immediate family member of a NJ firefighter or police officer deceased or disabled other than in the line of duty; Third Priority: a dependent or immediate family member of an active or retired NJ firefighter or police officer. PSE&G Scholarship 1. Must be a current or incoming SCCC student. Red Callahan Endowment Scholarship 1. Available to all SCCC students engaged in on-campus activities with preference to baseball and women s soccer participants and not based on athletic capabilities. 2. Must have an SCCC GPA of 3.0 or higher. 11

12 Robert A. Vandenbergh Scholarship 1. Open to SCCC students with an SCCC GPA of 3.0 or higher. 2. Must be matriculated in one of SCCC s program offerings. 4. Monies must be used for tuition only unless the student is in his/her final semester and needs the scholarship for fees and books. Susan M. Rafter Memorial Endowment Scholarship 1. Preference given for a currently enrolled SCCC student. 2. Must have an SCCC GPA of 2.0 or higher. 3. Must be matriculated in one of SCCC s program offerings. 4. Someone who shows a caring attitude to others; examples should be written in essay. Sussex County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship 1. Must be a Sussex County resident. 2. Must be a full-time student. 4. Must have demonstrated the following qualities: good character, good attitude and community involvement. Examples should be noted in your essay. Sussex County Community College Board of Trustees Scholarship 1. Must be a Sussex County resident. Syberg Family Endowment Scholarship 2. Preference for a Sussex County resident. 3. Must be a student who demonstrates self-motivation and self-reliance. (Please note this in your essay). 12

13 Syberg Veteran Scholarship 1. Must have served honorably in the military. A copy of your DD-214 (Honorable Discharge Form) is required. 3. Must have an SCCC GPA of 2.5 or higher. 4. Must be an incoming or current student of SCCC. Incoming students must provide a copy of their High School grades with the application. Tall Cedars of Lebanon and the Rangers of Sussex County Forest #37 Endowment Scholarship 1. Must have an SCCC GPA of 2.5 or higher. 2. Must be a resident of Sussex County. 3. Must be any relation of a Mason or a member of the Eastern Star. Please submit a copy of the current membership card with your application. 4. Preference to Kittatinny Lodge #164; Samaritan #98; Harmony #8; Milford Lodge (in that order). 5. You must be a current student at SCCC. 6. Please submit with the application a 500 word typed essay on a patriotic theme. (Please note this replaces the essay instructions on Page 4 of the scholarship overview). The Good Faith Scholarship 1. Must have an SCCC GPA of 3.25 or higher. 2. No GPA permitted for incoming students (first semester at SCCC). 200 Club of Sussex County Scholarship Preference: 1. Must be a high school senior or SCCC student who is a dependent child of a parent who actively serves (or at the time of death, actively served) as one of the following. Law enforcement officers, firefighters, members of emergency medical first aid squads or members of emergency management, working (whether on a volunteer or paid basis) in Sussex County. New Jersey State Police, residing or working in Sussex County. Note: High school students must be a member of the graduating class of 2010, and must be eligible to receive a high school diploma prior to September 1, Note: If both parents are deceased, then the applicant must be less than 21 years of age. Children of personnel working in clerical or other non-related public safety duties are not eligible. 2. Must be a resident of Sussex County. 3. Must be pursuing a degree in law enforcement or public safety. 4. Must be a full-time student. 5. Must have exhibited good citizenship traits and be of sound moral character. Please note this in your essay. 6. Children of voting members of The 200 Club are not eligible for this scholarship. 13

14 Vernon Township Republican Organization Scholarship (Special application necessary See attached form) 1. Must be a Vernon Township resident planning to complete a course in higher education. 2. Must be a registered Republican voter. 3. The scholarship is available to a traditional or non-traditional student who is presently attending or planning to attend SCCC on a full time or part time basis. 4. If an applicant is selected to receive a Scholarship Award, he or she will be requested to make a brief acceptance speech at the May meeting of the Vernon Township Republican Organization The Vernon Township Republican Organization Scholarship is not administered by the Scholarship Committee. Students interested in applying for this scholarship MUST fill out the special application included on the Scholarship Application Procedure page and follow the instructions on that application YES (Your Educational Success) Scholarship 1. Must be an active participant in the YES Program during the fall semester. Active participation will be verified by the YES program Counselor and will be defined as participating in a minimum of 70% of YES activities including: a. Attendance at Summer Welcome Session b. Completion of Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI) and Individual Learning Plan c. Attendance at Monthly YES Meeting d. Use of Learning Center Services: Tutoring, Mentoring for Success 2. Must exhibit sufficient academic progress through fall semester (passing 3 or more classes). Zonta Endowment Scholarship 2. Must be a returning adult female student, non-traditional aged (23 years or older) who is seeking a new career and/or beginning a career for the first time after many years of either working at a low paying job, or who has been a homemaker and now wants to further her education in order to seek a career. 3. Must have an SCCC GPA of 3.0 or higher. 14
