2 PREFACE I have great pleasure to present 13 th annual report of IRRT Kashmir which cover the period from April 2013 to march The work and contribution of our organization is recognized by every one.. The people from different walks of life are joining hands with our organization. We have people with dedication, integrity, honesty with as in our board of trustees. This year we have completed 13 th year of relief work. Our main concern is to bring joy on the faces of masses and to bring peace and prosperity by addressing the problems of neglected, deserving and conflict affected people. Children constitute 38% of total population as such the women and children are vulnerable and our efforts continue for the rehabilitation and empowerment of these sections of the society. Our responsibility is increased due to alarming increase of orphans and widows. We try to reach out as many as deserving persons who are in need of our help. We try to conceive more programmes and projects with the help of individual donors and donor agencies in context of our goals and objectives but it demands the sustainable support from donors and community as well. In Islam Zakat is the best and sustainable source of income but in Kashmir only 0.5 % people who are under obligation are paying Zakat so we try to review Zakat system for mobilization of resources. We have been successful in getting one project for agricultural activities financed by Mercy Corps International during this year and we have been able to get sponsorship of 48 orphans from orphans in need in India. I am extending my sincere thanks to all those individuals and donor agencies who donate to our trust generously for our cause. I invite all the interested persons to join hands with us for achieving the set goals and fulfill the targets. We look forward for social bonding, brotherhood, communal harmony, peace and love. We provide space and platform to all irrespective of any discrimination for redressal of grievances and we pray for prosperous society. Hope this message has relevance and acceptance for reaching out the marginalized sections of the society. Activities: This trust got established under law in the year 2000 and it is duly registered with home ministry of India under FCRA NO From the year 2001 the trust is providing relief and doing social Viz charitable work through following activities. 1. Financial assistance to poor students: To continue higher and professional education, financial assistance through account payee cheque was given to the poor and orphan students. During the financial year MBBS, BDS, MCA, Engineering MBA and poor graduate students were given financial assistance. 2. Clothing to widows: On the occasion of Eid-ul-fiter and Eid-ul-zuha the clothing was provided to the widows who are registered beneficiaries of trust. 3. Ramadan and Eid assistance: During the month of Ramadan the food items in the shape of kits were distributed among the deserving women who are registered beneficiaries of our trust, on the occasion of Eid-ul-fiter and Eid-ul-zuha the cash assistance was given to widows, destitute and poor persons of the community for celebration of Ied festival. 4. Monthly assistance program: Under this monthly assistance program, 82 registered widows and destitute women are getting regular financial assistance for there sustenance. 5. Running of orphanages: a) One male orphanage DARUL EHSAN is established and run by trust at Kralpora(chadora) for the last four years. Presently 20 orphans are admitted in orphanage. These inmates are nourished and educated on modern standards, the modern, religious and moral education is provided to the inmates. Regular medical examination is arranged, sports activities, touring, tuition and counseling is also available to the inmates. The orphanage is well furnished with all facilities with computer lab, but is located in a rental building; a huge amount of rent is paid by the trust.

4 b) One female orphanage DARUL MUHSINAT was established at Singpora pattan(baramulla) during the year. At the first instance 10 female orphans were admitted in the orphanage and the building was hired for the purpose. All the basic facilities and modern education is available to these deserving female orphans of the area. Tuition and counseling is available at the orphanage. 6. Sponsorship of Orphans; Under this scheme the orphan students are identified and adopted for monthly sponsorship in order to have better education and other required facilities. Under this scheme 48-orphan students are adopted by orphans in need India which is an international philanthropic organization. 7. Marriage assistance program: Under this activity the orphan and poor girls are provided assistance in each and bind for performing their marriage but the marriages are being celebrated in a simple form. This year 47 girls were provided the assistance for their marriages. 8. Emergency relief: Under this program trust is providing relief to those persons who suffer due to natural calamities or man made disaster. During the year many families were given material support as emergency relief in terms of rehabilitation. 9. Medical aid assistance: Hundreds of poor patients approached the trust during the year for medical assistance, out of these patients many cases were referred to the Govt. for financial assistance and rest of the patients were given cash assistance for their medicine and treatment. Medical advice was also sought from the concerned doctors. 10. IFTAR PARTY During the month of Ramadan one Iftar party was arranged at DARUL EHSAN with the orphan children in which ulmas and respectable persons of the area participate. Another IFTAR party was organized at the head office of trust where in the intellectuals, ulmas, scholars and social workers participate. The guests from outside the country participated from London. Retired Justice Kirmani presided over the informal function. 11. Child care and protection: Under this activity many awareness programmes were conducted in collaboration with schools for the awareness of child rights protection and advocacy was done for the welfare of neglected children. Some two years before seven crèche centres were established at different places with the financial help of state social welfare board but unfortunately the board without

5 any reason stopped the grant to the trust. A writ petition was filed against the board and ministry in the high court for resell of grievance. Another writ petition was filed in Supreme Court for child protection through Bachman Bachaw. 12. Qurbani meat distribution: On the eve of Eid-ul-zuha with the help of Islamic guidance centre, Calicut, Kerala 25 sheep s were arranged and sacrificed for widows. The meat was distributed among the registered widows of trust. 13. ZAKAT CENTER: To have viable and effective zakat system in the state, a zakat centre is established for collection of zakat and its distribution among deserving one after proper scrutiny and verification. The centre is raising awareness among the Muslims in terms of its importance in order to review system. 14. Radio programmes: For heightening the activities of trust and for generating awareness among the masses pertaining to eradication of social evils, a radio programme partow was broadcasted from radio Kashmir Srinagar once in a week. 15. Central library: Trust has established a library at its head office for the members and senior citizens, the donors have donated their books to the library and many people has used and utilized this library through reading of books. 16. The intellectual: Trust is publishing a monthly paper the intellectual which is available online also. To have awareness among the masses on various issues this paper is published. 17. Mercy Corps Project: Last year Youth Entrepreneurship Project was completed wherein 200 youth were linked with JKEDI which provided them seed money and other facilities. This year a potato production project was adopted with tem million Indian Rupees financial assistance. Five hundred persons living below poverty line in the area of Kani Dajan District Budgam and Hurpora in District Shopian will be benefited. 18. Workshops and Conference: Many conferences and workshops on different topics at head office, one mega conference on education was organised at S.P.College wherein the academicians and educationists from outside the state participated. Four Dawah training workshops were conducted in which students and young writers participated. 19. School:

6 Trust has established a school of Primary standard at Singpora (K.P.Balla) for orphans and poor girls and at the first instance 84 students were admitted. Modern and religious education is being provided in this school Al- Muhsinat Educational Institute. 20. Arabic Course: Part time Arabic class was arranged for part time participants in order to learn Arabic Language. 21. Annual Awards: Trust has conferred four awards to four selected personalities for their best services in their respective fields: (1). Late Tak Zainagiri was conferred award for his selfless social service. (2). Mr.Mohammad Rafi Bhat. (3)Mr. Ved Bhasin of Kashmir times Jammu was conferred award for his honest Journalism. (4) Mr. Shiekh Mohammad Iqbal was conferred award for his best service in Education. For accomplishing the mentioned activities trust is having the main source of income from public donation Zakat and foreign contribution. However the resources are very limited. It is imperative to get more and more persons involved in the resource mobilisation. The state or central government has not given any bind of grant to the trust during the year. The annual accounts of trust are audited by the charted accountant every year regularly. Trust is registered with income tax department under section 12A of IT Act and application for grant of exemption under section 80G is pending disposal in the office of commissioner income tax J and K Jammu.
