4 Facts about the Minnesota I.T. labor market 1. Demand for IT-related talent is strong and will continue to grow through 2022; total hiring is equivalent to 25% of current workforce (20,000 jobs through 2022) 2. 86% of total Minnesota IT employment is in the MSP MSA 3. As of May 22, 2015, 92% of the current 17,000 job openings in computer-related occupations specified a bachelor s degree requirement 4. Minnesota ranks 11 th in total IT employment and 6 th in concentration of employment among the 100 largest MSAs in the U.S. 5. 11 Enrollment Resources Promote pathway for Application and Web Development Bachelor s (B.A.S.) level IT curriculum was tailored to real-world competencies = engaged employers + educational partners Enroll in CApp program; 2 credit IT Residency preparation course; 6 credits of FUSION credits; students earn rather borrow for final 60 credits month residency serves as a bridge to personal, professional and academic success; also provides continuous feedback Builds a pipeline of experienced, bachelor s level IT talent to meet the employment needs in MN ** Residency program could be replicated in other academic programs

13 Educational Resources Cyber Defense Competitions Teams across MnSCU are immersed in annual security competitions pitching students against industry experts in simulated businesses Cybersecurity Skills Innovation Boot Camps Top security students from MnSCU and U of M are immersed in a week-long workshop on technical and non-technical skills delivered by faculty and security experts.
