1 2013/14 Alberta MBA s Award Name Program Description Value ($) AIMCo MBA Award Awarded annually to a student specializing in finance who is registered full-time in year one or year two of a MBA program at the Alberta School of and to a student specializing in finance who is registered full-time in year one or year two of a MBA program at the Haskayne School of in Calgary. The recipients will be selected on the basis of satisfactory academic merit. $10,000 Bernard Greer Aylen /PT Awarded to a student in the final year of an MBA program on the basis of academic merit, (a GPA of 3.5 or above) demonstrated strength in two accounting core courses, as well as strong leadership traits and character shown through participation in extra-curricular and community activities. Part-time students are eligible for this award. $1,100 Alumni Association Graduate in /PT Awarded annually to a Canadian citizen or permanent resident with superior academic standing (GPA of 3.5 or greater on a course load of 30 credits) who is being admitted to the first year of a Master of Administration degree program in the Faculty of. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence; however, community involvement and participation in student association activities also may be considered. Part-time students are eligible for this award. $2,000 Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers Graduate in /PT Awarded annually to two students enrolled in the second year of a MBA degree program in the Natural Resources and Energy Specialization. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic performance. Part-time students are eligible for this award. $2,300
2 Canadian Leader Award for Leadership Excellence CEFE MBA in Family Enterprise Claude Winspear MBA Award /PT Awarded annually to a student registered in the final year of a MBA program on the basis of strong leaderships traits and character shown through participation in extra-curricular and community activities as well as on the basis of academic merit. Part-time student are eligible for this award. Awarded annually to two outstanding students who are registered full-time in the MBA program at the University of Alberta. A recipient will be selected on the basis of academic achievement (minimum grade point average equivalent to 3.5 on the University of Alberta grading scale) and will have completed or be enrolled in either SMO 628 Managing Family Enterprise or SMO 642 International Family Enterprise. Awarded annually to outstanding student(s) who are registered fulltime in an MBA program at the University of Alberta. Recipients will be selected on the basis of demonstrated leadership through involvement and participation in university or community organizations, sports or cultural activities, and academic standing. Previous scholastic achievement is one factor to be considered, but not necessarily the determining factor, when making an award. Preference will be given to students newly admitted to the MBA program and who satisfy any one of the following three criteria: $6,500 $10, A student who has a background of social entrepreneurship or who has the intent to enter this field of specialization subsequent to completion of the MBA degree. 2. A student who is from the arts community and who is interested in acquiring business management skills with the intent of returning to the arts community. 3. A student who is interested in acquiring an additional language through an international exchange course.

The recipient will be selected on the basis of academic standing and a letter of application identifying career aspirations after graduation. Awarded annually to a student with superior academic standing (GPA of 3.5 or greater on a course load of 30 credits) who is entering the second year of full-time study in a Master of Administration degree program in the Alberta School of. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence. As well, applicants will be evaluated on their involvement in the promotion or representation of the Alberta School of such as, but not limited to, Student Council, case competitions, NET Impact and other associated activities. Preference will be given to applicants who have come from an education or teaching background. Dick Johnston Memorial Graduate in International Dr Amit Monga - Ventura Capital /PT Awarded annually to a student enrolled full-time in the second year of the MBA degree program who is taking part in a double degree or exchange program with one of the University of Alberta School of partner universities. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic performance. Awarded annually to a student registered in the final year of the MBA degree program in the Finance specialization. The recipient will be selected on the basis of superior academic performance (grade point average of 3.5 or greater), and demonstrated excellence in the two finance core courses. Leadership highlighted through various initiatives and activities in the areas of venture capital and private equity will also be considered. $2,600

Awarded annually to a student(s) entering their first year of full-time or part-time study in the MBA program at the Alberta School of. Applicants must have a demonstrated interest in public policy and experience working in the field of energy/environment. The recipient(s) will be selected on the basis of superior academic standing and a letter of application outlining career aspirations. Awarded annually to a student enrolled full-time in the first year of the MBA Program with a specialization in Natural Resources and Energy. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic performance, work experience prior to entering the program, and GMAT scores. Encana MBA Awarded annually to a student or students registered full-time in the second year of the Natural Resources and Energy specialization of the MBA program. Recipients will be selected on the basis of superior academic standing (equivalent to a grade point average of 3.5 or greater on the University of Alberta grading scale). EPCOR MBA Award in Executive Education Graduate /PT Awarded annually to a student enrolled full-time in the first year of the MBA program with a specialization in Natural Resources and Energy. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic performance, work experience prior to entering the program, and GMAT scores. Awarded annually to a graduate student registered in the School of MBA Program who has achieved superior academic standing. Preference will be given to a student with a demonstrated interest in the area of leadership in the community. Part-time students are eligible for this award. $7,500
5 Freedom 55 Financial MBA Award Guy and Dawn Turcotte Distinguished Founders MBA in Natural Resources, Energy and Environment Jim Dixon Public Management Graduate John Poon Graduate Award in MBA/JD /PT PT MBA/JD Award annually to a student on the basis of satisfactory academic achievement who is entering the second year of the MBA program. Applicants will be evaluated on their leadership qualities demonstrated through involvement in extra-curricular and community activities. Leadership activities may include the promotion or representation of the Alberta School of such as, but not limited to, student council, case competitions, Net Impact, specialization clubs and other associated activities. Part-time students are eligible for this award. Awarded annually to a student entering the first year of full-time study in the Natural Resources and Energy specialization MBA program at the Alberta School of. Applicants must have a demonstrated interest in the oil and gas industry. The recipient will be selected on the basis of superior academic standing and a letter of application identifying career aspirations after graduation. Awarded annually to a part-time student entering the Alberta MBA Public Management Stream who offers the greatest potential to succeed in the program and be a leader in public service management. This promise will be evidenced by the student's excellence in academic achievement and career progress. The student must be accepted into the part-time Alberta MBA program with course work commencing in September of the year of the scholarship, be employed by a public sector organization, and have completed at least two years of full-time work experience. The public sector includes the Government of Alberta, the Government of Canada, the City of Edmonton, Capital Health, the Edmonton Public or Separate School Boards, a non-profit public service organization or any other comparable entity Awarded annually to a full-time student registered in the combined MBA/JD program who is in satisfactory academic standing. Selection is based on two weighted criteria: (a) the GPA over the previous two years (80%) and (b) demonstrated leadership and contribution to university life (20%). $2,000 $4,000

Labatt's MBA Fellow Awarded annually to a student entering the second year of the MBA program, on the basis of high academic achievement and other contributions exhibited by the student during the first year of the MBA program. The award carries with it the distinction of the title "Labatt's Fellow". Marcel Sale NREE Margot Micallef MBA in Ethics and Governance MBA/MENG in Leadership /PT MBA/MEng Awarded annually to a student enrolled full-time in the Natural Resources and Energy specialization of the first year of the MBA degree program. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic performance, work experience prior to entering the program, and GMAT scores. Awarded annually to an MBA student studying in the area of Ethics and Governance on the basis of first-class standing (minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0). The scholarship is open to both part-time and full-time continuing students who are registered in the MBA program at the Alberta School of. Awarded annually to a student registered in the final year of the MBA/MEng joint degree program. The recipient will be selected on the basis of superior academic performance (grade point average of 3.5 or greater). Leadership highlighted through involvement and participation in university or community organizations will also be considered. Michael Lang MBA Award Awarded annually to a student enrolled full-time in a specialization of the first year of the MBA degree program. 7 Michael Lang MBA Award in Michael Lang Youth and Leadership MBA Award Awarded annually to a student enrolled full-time in the Innovation & Entrepreneurship specialization of the first year of the MBA degree program. The recipient will be selected on the basis of academic performance, work experience prior to entering the program, and GMAT score. Awarded annually to a student registered full-time in the first year of the MBA program in the University of Alberta School Of. The recipient, who is in the very early state of his/her career, will be selected on the basis of satisfactory academic achievement, leadership potential and involvement in community activities. Milt Pahl MBA /PT Awarded annually to a Canadian citizen who has completed the first year of the MBA program and whose academic standing is in the top half of the class. Selection will be based on community or business leadership potential, and evidence of community contribution and/or achievement. Preference will be given to Alberta residents. Part-time students are eligible for this award. Neil Manning MBA in Family Enterprise Olivia Bourda Memorial MBA Award in Awarded annually to a student registered full-time in year one or year two of a Master of Administration degree program. The recipient will have completed or be enrolled in either SMO 628 (Managing Family Enterprise) or SMO 642 (International Family Enterprise). Selection will be based on superior academic standing (equivalent to a grade point average of 3.5 or greater on the University of Alberta grading scale) and demonstrated leadership in related extra-curricular activities. Awarded annually to an EDHEC student entering the Double Degree MBA program at the University of Alberta. 8 Paul Wacko MBA Award in Natural Resources & Energy Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Rodney E Schneck Prize in Organizational Analysis Rolf Mirus Graduate in International /PT /PT Two awards offered annually on the basis of satisfactory academic achievement and GMAT score, combined with significant community involvement, to students entering the first year of the MBA program with the intent of being admitted to the Natural Resources and Energy stream of the MBA program. The award is offered for a second year contingent upon acceptance into the specialized program and maintaining satisfactory academic standing. Candidates must be registered full-time in the first, second, third or fourth year of a master s degree program during the tenure of the award. Tenure of the Queen Elizabeth II Graduate (Master s) may begin September 1 for an 8-month period at a value of $10,800, or January 1 for a 4-month period at a value of $5,400. Nominees must have a GPA of 3.5 or greater over the most recent 15 units of course weight (departments may elect to set a higher minimum GPA) and must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents at the time of nomination. Awarded annually to a student, who is entering the second year of the MBA program in the Faculty of, and who is working in Organizational Studies, Strategy and Policy, or Human Resource Management. Applicants will be considered primarily on the basis of superior academic achievement with consideration also given to leadership qualities demonstrated through involvement in extracurricular and community activities. Part-time students are eligible for this award. Awarded annually to a student enrolled full-time or part-time in the first or second year of the MBA degree program who is taking the international business specialization. Recipients will be selected on the basis of superior academic performance (minimum grade point average of 3.5). Selection will be based on satisfactory academic standing and demonstrated leadership in community or extracurricular activities. Preference will be given to a student specializing in Retailing and Services. Sidney Hanson Graduate in International Strategic Leadership Forum Graduate /PT Awarded annually to a student enrolled full-time or part-time in the second year of the MBA degree program who has shown an interest or has a background in entrepreneurship and would like to study abroad. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic merit (grade point average of 3.5 or greater). Awarded annually to a student enrolled in either the PhD or the MBA degree program in the School of. The recipient will be selected on the basis of current academic performance (minimum grade point average equivalent to 3.5 on the University of Alberta grading scale) plus university and community service within the past three years. A record of demonstrated leadership is important. Suncor Energy "Emerging Leaders" MBA Natural Resources & Energy Awarded annually to an outstanding student registered full-time in the Natural Resources and Energy specialization of the MBA program. Recipients may apply in open competition and may hold the award for a maximum of two years. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic performance, work experience prior to entering the program, and GMAT scores. $4,000 T.E. (Edward) Bate and T.D. (Terry) Freeman Graduate Award in MBA/MEng Awarded annually to a student who is registered full-time in the MBA/MEng program. The recipient must hold an undergraduate degree in engineering and will be selected on the basis of satisfactory academic performance and leadership potential. The Right Honourable Don Mazankowski MBA Award in International /PT Awarded annually to one student enrolled full-time in the second year of the international business specialization in the MBA program and to one student enrolled in the part-time program of the international business specialization (regardless of year). Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic performance, work experience prior to entering the program, and GMAT scores. $1,200
10 Tye Graduate in Corporate Governance /PT Awarded annually to a student who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and who is registered full-time or part-time in the final year of the MBA degree program. The recipient will be selected on the basis of outstanding academic performance, a grade point average of 3.5 or greater, and demonstrated interest in the field of corporate governance. The recipient will have demonstrated a keen interest in corporate governance and its relationship to shareholders and society with particular emphasis on corporate ethics and accountability. $4,000 The recipient s interest is expected to be primarily focused on companies listed on Canadian stock exchanges, with the scope of interest extending to Crown Corporations and not-for-profit organizations. The focus should address issues of Board ethics, transparency, independence of corporate directors, compliance with current policies and guidelines established by CICA, Institute of Corporate Directors and other such recognized governing bodies. Tye Graduate in Economics William S McGregor Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence Awarded to a student who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and who is registered in the final year of an MBA program. The recipient will be selected on the basis of outstanding academic performance (grade point average of 3.5 or greater), demonstrated strength in the two economics core courses, a strong interest in Canadian ecological issues, as well as the leadership traits and character shown through participation in campus extra-curricular activities. Awarded to a full-time student in the MBA program who exemplifies exceptional entrepreneurial achievements within the bounds of the Faculty of or outside the Faculty while enrolled in the MBA program. $1,500 William S McGregor MBA Award in Awarded annually to a student enrolled full-time in the second year of a MBA degree program in the Innovation & Entrepreneurship specialization.
