3 Your presenters Andrew McLaughlin, Call 1993 Andrew is a leading practitioner nationally in the field of industrial disease. He is one of a handful of specialists recommended in Chambers UK spotlight table for disease work as well as the Legal 500. He has been involved in a number of reported cases involving asbestos/respiratory disease (mesothelioma, asbestosis, lung cancer, occupational asthma), occupational stress and harassment/bullying, noise, work related upper limb disorders, hand/arm vibration syndrome, sexual abuse, bacterial exposure (c difficile, mrsa, campylobacter). He is a member of the TSOL panel.andrew s recent successes in 2014 include successfully representing the defendant in the Court of Appeal in the case of Coventry University v Mian [2014] EWCA Civ 1275, an appeal against a decision of HHJ Barrie that the university was liable to Dr Mian, a senior lecturer, for work-related stress. Patrick West, Call 2007 Darren Lewis, Call 2004 Darren practises in all aspect of employers liability and industrial disease litigation. He is regularly instructed by both claimant and defendants in Six Pack Regulations claims. He specialises in noise induced hearing loss litigation and associated limitation disputes. Darren has experience in Catastrophic injuries and fatalities particularly relating to Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations Mesothelioma and asbestos related litigation. Practical understanding and interest in claims arising out of mining industry especially vibration white finger. Patrick has a rapidly growing practice in occupational illness litigation particularly noiseinduced hearing loss in the engineering, steel and textile industries.
