3 Part (1) The Integrated Action Programme for Climate Protection in Munich History of climate protection in Munich December 2008: City Council agrees to goals of the European local network Climate Alliance: - Reduction of CO 2 -emissions per capita by 10 % every 5 years and by 50 % until 2030 (baseline 1990) - Longterm goal: Reduction of CO 2 -emissions to 2.5 t per capita and year

4 The Integrated Action Programme for Climate Protection in Munich - Basic decision of 2008: Regular development, evaluation and reporting of climate protection measures - Collaboration of all city departments for use of synergies - Interdepartmental management: Department of Health and Environment - So far two programmes in 2010 and 2013; third programme in 2015

7 Part (2) Local measures of the to increase energy efficiency in company buildings a) Payment for energy-efficient planning of new company buildings - Measure within the action field energy efficiency in industry - Payment of max per new company building and own contribution of Goals: energy and cost reduction through energy efficient planning from the beginning onwards - Budget for 15 cases in 2013 and So far: mainly demand on formerly city owned business sites

8 Payment for energy-efficient planning of new company buildings - details - Consultancy report is needed with 3 different planning alternatives - Baseline scenario A: planning standard on formerly city owned sites which is 10 % stricter than the current energy saving legislation in the area of heat; - Scenario B: energy standards of 2016 national legislation - Scenario C: energy standards of 2021 EU legislation - So far only a few cases, but promising results

9 b) Free one day consultancy on energy efficiency for small and medium sized companies - Individual on site consulting on electricity and heat consumption - Report with recommendations - Budget for 50 cases - Net value of 800 per case Results so far: up to 20 t of CO 2 can be avoided per firm through measures like optimisation of lighting and cooling; annual savings of around 6.000

10 c) Information events on energy efficiency in companies - lighting - cooling d) Pilot project: Improvement of energy efficiency in companies with many shops, e.g. bakeries Goal: improvement of energy efficiency not only in production sites, but also in shops

12 ECOPROFIT - History in Germany 1991 was developed in Graz/Austria (licence) 1998/99 first German ECOPROFIT project in Munich (copyright of the German ECOPROFIT- Materials - available on CD - lies with the city of Munich) 2000 foundation of the German ECOPROFIT- Network 2013 start of the 11 th Munich ECOPROFITproject; CO 2 reduction of t in 2011; one of cheapest CO 2 reduction measures citywide 2014 more than 100 communities and 3,000 companies in Germany

13 ECOPROFIT Benefits Companies: Cost reduction, legal compliance, exchange of information, image, systematic consulting at reasonable costs, pre-stage to Eco-Audit Municipalities: Contribution to sustainable development, dialogue with the local economy, less enforcement deficits due to own initiatives of the business community, regional eco-innovation network
