3 MAIN OBJECTIVE To initiate and strengthen the networking of environmental businesses between Southern Finland and Estonia in order to build competitive consortiums and gain new business opportunities also in third markets with a long-term goal of improving the state of the environment in the Gulf of Finland region 12 December 2005 Anu Hassinen 3

4 IMMEDIATE OBJECTIVES AND RESULTS (1) To initiate the co-operation within 3-5 miniclusters ACHIEVED: bioenergy, waste-to-energy, emissions trading clusters To develop minimum 3 joint project proposals/tenders ACHIEVED: 3 joint projects developed To obtain a comprehensive picture and accurate information on the status of the environment and project/business potential in Estonia ACHIEVED: database of Estonian environmental businesses collected, several market studies conducted, exchange of information in multiple seminars 12 December 2005 Anu Hassinen 4

5 IMMEDIATE OBJECTIVES AND RESULTS (2) To identify training needs and planning and piloting of training activities ACHIEVED: training needs survey conducted, on-line training packages developed, training seminars organized To develop and utilize e-tools for environmental networking ACHIEVED: Estonian businesses added to matching database, online news service provided To develop a functioning network of 7-10 environmental organizations in Southern Finland and Estonia as well as an action plan for the environmental cluster for the Gulf of Finland Growth Triangle ON-GOING: Letters of Intent with key partners to be signed, work continues within other projects 12 December 2005 Anu Hassinen 5
