2 2 Symbols and Conventions This document use the following special symbols and conventions: A note provides important related information, reminders, recommendations, and strong suggestions. A caution means that a specific action you take could cause harm to your computer or cause you to lose data. Affected application/product Interplay engine/archive engine Prerequisites None Introduction This document describes how to monitor the Interplay Engine for performance reason. There are several way to enable performance monitoring for processes on Windows. Standard is to use the performance monitor tool delivered with the operating system.
3 3 Enable monitoring 1. Start performance monitor tool on the Interplay Engine machine by selecting Run -> Execute -> perfmon -> Ok 2. Mark the lines which can be found in appendix A of this document between the start here and end here lines and store it as.html file (e.g. using notepad and cut & paste). 3. Open the performance logs and alerts tree and right click Counter logs. Select new log settings from and choose your html-config file.
4 4 4. Confirm the below naming. 5. The Engine property page will be shown. End by clicking to ok. 6. Start monitoring of the Interplay Engine by right clicking on the Engine entry and selecting start. The status will change to green and all information are logged to the file named within the below dialog (log file name entry)
5 5 Collect monitoring output 1. Copy the file from it s location (e.g. %TEMP%\Interplay Engine_*.csv) 2. Start Excel and import the data as CSV (comma separated format) file.
