7 About Department of Business Administration About VVCE Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering offers 6 U.G. programmes in engineering, 3 M.Tech courses & 6 VTU recognised Research centres to pursue Doctoral programmes VVCE with over 2500 student population is consistently ranked as one of the top engineering & management college. 8 Location and Facilities THE LOCATION The Heritage city of Mysuru, is the third largest city in the state of Karnataka, well known for tourism. Mysuru city has grown rapidly into one of the leading Corporate Destinations for Call Centers, IT & BPO Firms, Manufacturing and Entertainment Industries. 9 CAMPUS INFRASTRUCTURE Totally pollution free, the campus boasts of Wi-fi classrooms, a well-stocked library, state of the art computer center and offices, modern auditorium, hostels, food court, bank & Cooperative society. KNOWLEDGE RESOURCE CENTER (KRC) The Library& Information Center efficiently caters to the needs of the faculty, students and research scholars. It provides access to online journals, magazines, reports and projects. The center subscribes to a large number of journals through Springer link (Business & Economic Journals) EBSCO, e-library. Digital Engineering and Video Libraries are also accessible to students. SPORTS MEET The Department has a state- ofthe art Gym centre and organizes sports meet every year on the occasion of Annual Day Celebrations of the institute. Indoor and outdoor games are conducted for individuals and departmentwise teams and prizes are given a w a y f o r s u c c e s s f u l participants in the game. RESIDENTIAL FACILITY The residential facility is set in the tranquil environment of the campus and is highly conducive to academic and research work. A 200 seat boys hostel and a 100 seat girls hostel with Wi-fi and modern facilities provide a refreshing learning experience. VIDYUTH - A cultural extravaganza VIDYUTH! Great cultural extravaganza at VVCE! The fest provides fabulous opportunities for the students to exhibit their talent with uniqueness and magnanimity. In the cultural fest, many cultural and literary events will be conducted for the students with enthusiasm and magnetism. 13 I Pedagogy The department of business administration has got highly experienced, research oriented faculty members. The students are engaged in active learning through discussions and activities in the classroom. The common pedagogy used in MBA course is the case study method which helps the students to understand the real life business situations in a better manner. Apart from the above activities, guest lectures, industrial visits, seminars are arranged periodically to update the students' knowledge about the current trends, opportunities and challenges in various sectors of business. In addition to the prescribed curriculum, e-learning certified courses in various disciplines of management are offered to the students' community to equip themselves to get employed in their desired career. 15 INDUSTRY VISITS Industry visits are exciting experiences for students. Students are encouraged to study the company well before the visit. Classroom inputs are complemented by exposure to practical applications. Students also appreciate the differences and similarities between the conceptual ideas and the real world work environments through industrial visits. CENTRE FOR MANAGEMENT SERVICES The Centre for Management Services at VVCE, connects and coordinates with the industry. It identifies industrial needs for training and consultancy and facilitates the interface between industry and appropriate expertise available with institute in a suitable form, either through Management Development Programme, training programme or consultancy. EXTERNAL LINKAGES AND ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIPS Given the strong need for comprehensive academic programmes, the department constantly strives to establish strategic partnerships with leading B-school faculty across India and overseas.
