10 Your Investment The average class size at Olympic College is 21 students much smaller than classes at many universities. At Olympic College, your professors will know you by name. Your professors and advisors will learn about your educational goals and help you choose the best university when it is time to transfer. There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living. Nelson Mandela What do you want to be when you grow-up? A Nurse, Teacher, an Engineer -- perhaps you re still undecided. Whatever you choose Olympic College is equipped to provide you with the tools, resources and assistance you need for life-long success. Affordability Students decisions of where to enroll are commonly influenced by the financial aid packages they re offered and the cost of the institution. Olympic College practices affordability strategies to eliminate barriers to education and increase opportunities to financial options. We provide our students with an effective pathway to college affordability through financial literacy. The Olympic College Financial Aid Office (FAO) literacy outreach program to branch campuses made it possible for us to disburse $0 million in the academic year to over 5,000 students! Moreover, we offer our students a variety of other resources to successfully fund their education. The purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one. Employment Prospects Employers work with Olympic College to develop continuing education through contract training while others may be particularly interested in providing creditbased training. Olympic College addresses this need by using existing credit-based curriculum as well as employer proprietary training materials. Olympic College works with the community to help students learn about employment and internship opportunities, as well as help cultivate networks to carry you throughout your work life. Our internship programs have a 0% placement rate! Additionally we... Offer advisory help and course planning Work directly with employers to provide jobs skills to employee-students Collaborate with industry to facilitate employer, student career fairs, etc. Military Assistance Program Continually recognized as a Military Friendly College, Olympic College provides an onsite Veteran and Military Support Center (VMSC) housing a computer lab, lounge and meeting space exclusively for veterans, active duty military and family members. 11 Student Activities Sports & Recreation Olympic College has been successfully competing in intercollegiate athletics since Our athletic mission is to conduct a diverse athletic program that contributes to educational and personal growth of young men and women. We aim to do this by developing the positive attributes of dedication, discipline, responsibility, cooperation, self-confidence, leadership and citizenship in our athletes. Olympic College offers ten intercollegiate sports: Volleyball (female only), Soccer, Basketball, Softball (females), Baseball (males), Cross Country, Track & Field and Golf for female & male students. Olympic College is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference. Student Clubs Our clubs strive to promote the endeavors of its members through projects which educate and deliver positive growth. We encourage clubs to promote a learning environment that facilitate growth and civic mindedness while acting as a resource for diversity awareness and cultural sensitivity for students and staff. Our clubs engage both online and face-toface. We encourage Olympic College students to get involved in a club--they are a great way to create lasting friendships for life. Why Aspen Top 10? We ve Excelled in Key Areas: Student Learning Certification & degree completion Employment & Earnings High-level of access for minority and low-income students Our Story We have equipped and retained some of the least academically prepared students. We accomplished this through establishing close ties to our community and bringing faculty, staff, administrators and community members together to address completion gaps, identify barriers to success, and deliver essential support. We created pathways to bachelor s degrees & Apprenticeships. In turn, this helped us eliminate barriers like lack of financial options. Subsequently, this increased the opportunity for more students to enroll. Next, we tackled head on impediments to student learning-- increasing certificate and degree completions. The end result: improved employment & earnings of graduates with high-level of access for minority and low-income students. Cortavious Williams General Studies 11
