5 Solution overview This application note describes how to remotely access parameter values from the internal function blocks (SL-IN/SL-OUT) of the Crouzet Millenium 3 Logic Controller using the Netbiter EC220 remote gateway and Netbiter Argos data center. Please note! This solution requires that the monitoring parameters are made available in the SLIn - SLOut function blocks in the Crouzet Millenium 3 Logic Controller program. In addition to the SLIn - SLOut function, the following input/outputs of the EC220 are available for remote management: Netbiter EC Digital inputs (isolated, 24VDC) 2 Analog inputs (0-10V, 0-20mA, Pt100) 1 Analog output (0-10V) 1 Relay output (max 1A@24VDC) Monitoring of the Crouzet Millenium 3 (SLIn - SLOut) is done through the Netbiter EC220 RS232 serial interface. The Netbiter EasyConnect EC220 has a built-in GPRS modem to communicate with the Netbiter Argos. Below is an overview of the system described in this document. Page 5 (36)
6 Getting started 6.1 Insert SIM card Insert the SIM card at the bottom of the EC220 as shown in the picture. Important! Make sure that PIN code security is disabled. 6.2 Wiring and power supply The EC220 requires 9-24 Vdc, 1,5 W which is connected to the screw terminal block. Note that the GND terminal (ground -) is internally connected to the analog input/output common (AO:COM, AI:COM). For I/O wiring diagrams of the EC220 see page 34. You can find more information in the separate installation guide included with the EC220. The Crouzet Millenium 3 requires 24Vdc (minimum 19,2 to maximum 30Vdc) which is connected to the screw terminal block. Please refer to the Millenium 3 user manual for further details. The Millenium 3 unit is connected to the RS-232 port of the EC220 using the supplied cable with 9 pin D-sub male connector. Page 6 (36)

8. A configuration SMS will be sent to the EC220. The EC220 will receive and process the configuration. It will then reboot and reconnect automatically to Netbiter Argos. This will take a few minutes. 6.6 Firmware update To use the Netbiter EC220 with the Crouzet Millenium 3 unit it is necessary to download a specific firmware adopted for this application. Go to Configuration tab and click synchronize configuration. You will now be prompted to change the firmware from EC220 to EC220-M3 Click change firmware, select firmware file Netbiter EC220 Millenium 3 firmware and click update firmware. To reinstall an existing firmware to the same version you must mark the checkbox overwrite. Page 10 (36)
When the new firmware is installed the unit will reboot and reconnect to Netbiter Argos, this may take a few minutes. Note! This only updates the firmware; the monitoring configuration has not yet been set up. 7 Programming the Crouzet Millenium Setting up serial communication First of all you need to install the program M3 Crouzet Logic Software on your computer. Make sure that the computer is equipped with a serial port or use some sort of adapter to emulate one. In order to enable serial communication to the Millenium 3 you have to set up a function block. Start by opening the program, click File and then New. Under Controller choice select the correct Crouzet controller. Make sure that the model number in the column Reference is the same as the one you are using. Then click Next two times and select the programming type FBD (Function Block Diagram). Page 11 (36)
Click Next. This opens the workspace where you can program your controller simply by drag and drop. On the left side you will find the 4 digital inputs I1 - I4 and the 4 analog inputs IB, IC, ID, IE (these can also be used as digital inputs). On the right side are the 4 relay outputs O1 - O4. In the Display-menu, make sure that Function bar is selected. Clicking the button IN/OUT, you can now select the appropriate function blocks. Since we want to use the digital input I1, drag the DI with the mouse to the block I1 digital input. In the same way you drag and drop the digital output DO to the block O1 and the analog input AI to the block IB. Page 12 (36)
Then add HMI/COM components for the SLIn and SLOut. By double-clicking them, you can select the address range. These should be for SLIn "1-8" and for SLOut "25-32". These function blocks provides the serial communication link between the Crouzet Millenium 3 and the Netbiter EasyConnect EC220. However, there is a single entrance of the building blocks for a 16-bit word. Therefore you need converter blocks for the individual signal bits. You can find this under the CALC button as DEC/BIN and BIN/DEC. The wiring and connections are done by click and drag with the mouse. The workspace should now look as pictured below. The BIN/DEC module summarizes 16 individual bits into a 16-bit word and places it on the output. The DEC/BIN module accepts a 16-bit word input which is then divided into 16 individual bits. The SLIn and SLOut devices operate only with a word length of 16-bit. Since the analog input IB has a 16-bit word available, it can be directly connected to the second input of the SLIn function module (address 26). Page 13 (36)
7.2 Writing configuration to the Millenium 3 controller Connect the Millenium 3 via the Millenium 3 USB programming cable to one USB port of the computer and go to Controller menu> Connection> Configure, confirm the USB Com Port. The configuration can now be transferred to the controller by clicking Write to the controller. Page 14 (36)
Since the Crouzet Millenium 3 is connected via a serial cable to the Netbiter EasyConnect EC220, the data transfer takes place only on the SLIn - SLOut function blocks (serial link). Signals that are present at the input terminals of the Millenium 3 over SLOut function blocks are transmitted to and visualized on the Netbiter Argos over the Internet by the built in GPRS modem of the EC220. For the inputs and outputs of the Millenium 3 to be manageable in Netbiter Argos you must configure the EC220 module accordingly. This is described in the following chapter Configure remote system. 8 Configure Crouzet Monitoring parameters To start the configuration, go to Management and click the Configuration tab. At the bottom of the page offline alarms can be configured. This will trigger an alarm from Netbiter Argos if the EC220 is detected as offline. Depending on the reason for the unit to be offline the detection might take up to 30 minutes. The following limitations apply to the configuration of Netbiter EC220: - up to 16 parameters (data points) for visualization (either bit or word) - up to 16 parameters maximum for log (either bit or word) - up to 16 parameters maximum for alarm (either bit or word) 8.1 Add log parameter To add a log parameter click Logging and the button add log parameter. Select from which device and group the parameter should be defined. For the Millenium 3 device parameters can be defined as word or individual bit, for more information about this see chapter 7 Programming the Crouzet Millenium 3. A number of settings and conditions can be set for the log parameter. Page 15 (36)
Log interval defines the time that will elapse between two readings. Log type can be set to Value or Delta. Value shows the actual parameter value at the sample time. Delta shows the difference between the last sample and the one before. Delta is typically used for energy meters. When finished, click the save button. 8.2 Add Visualization parameter Visualization parameters are used for representing registers on the overview page of a remote system or on a custom dashboard. To add a visualization parameter click Visualization and the button add visualization parameter. Select from which device and group the parameter should be defined. For the Millenium 3 device parameters can be defined as word or individual bit. The parameter name in the template will be automatically copied to the description field. To edit the parameter name, without changing the template, mark the checkbox to the right of the field. Then it is possible to change the description that will be visualized at the overview page. If the change should be used for every device that is using this template, edit the parameter name in the template instead. Page 16 (36)
When finished, click the save button. Page 17 (36)
8.3 Add alarm parameter The remote system can be configured to generate alarms when certain conditions are met. To add an alarm parameter click Alarms and the button add alarm parameter. Trigger defines what value will trigger the alarm. Alarm class can be used to group alarms. Alarm severity can be used to define the alarm as critical, major, minor or warning When finished, click the save button. 8.4 Unit, scaling and offset Defining unit, scaling and offset can be useful when representing values in a graphical view such as dashboards. This is applicable to log, visualization and alarm parameters. Unit will be displayed in the legend of the graph. The unit will automatically set according to the remote device template. To change the default unit mark the checkbox to the right and enter the desired unit. Scaling is a divider to scale the value read from the register. Example: Parameter value: 6 Scaling = 2 will give 3 as logged value. Scaling = 0.5 will give 12 as logged value. Offset adds a number to the read and scaled parameter value. Example: Parameter value = 2 Offset = 1 will give 3 as logged value Offset = -1 will give 1 as logged value Page 18 (36)
8.5 Downloading the configuration When finished configuring the remote system, the final step is to download the configuration to the remote system. Press the button synchronize configuration. The device will reboot and reconnect to Netbiter Argos online. This may take a few minutes. 8.6 Positioning the remote system Using Google Maps, the remote system can be pinpointed to its exact position anywhere on the globe. In a project with many systems scattered over a large geographic area, this feature makes it easy to get an overview of the different units and their status. Click Map to position the system. Zoom in and scroll to set the position. Note! If connected to a GPS the device can automatically position itself on the map.gps tracking on the map can be enabled to monitor movements of the device. An alarm can be triggered if the device is moved outside a defined radius, also known as Geo-fencing. Page 19 (36)
8.7 Dashboards A dashboard is a graphical representation of parameters configured for a remote system. It is good practice to use profile dashboards whenever possible. This is because a profile dashboard can be shared by several remote systems. A system dashboard will only be applied to a specific remote system. The profile dashboard will automatically add the dashboard to every remote system that uses the device profile. Netbiter Argos provides a number of dashboard widgets. Live values in a list. Live values in a graphical drawing of the monitored system. Latest logged values. Logged value in a graph. Alarms in a list. You can define up to 3 dashboards for each system Drawing widget The drawing tool is a graphical web application that can be used to create dynamic, customized and interactive visualizations of your remote system. You can add images, objects, parameters and alarms to be visualized on the dashboard. If a parameter like a relay output is made writable it can be used for remote management simply by clicking on it in the dashboard. The images related to the parameter can also be altered to represent the value. Page 20 (36)
9 Views in Netbiter Argos 9.1 Presentation Under Presentation you can view status by projects or systems. There is also an alarm overview Under each system you will find a number of tabs. Dashboard can show a graphical representation of parameters configured for the remote system. Overview can show a picture of the system, description and list of active alarms. Alarm contains an alarm list and alarm history. Historical data contains data collected from the device over time which can be viewed on site or downloaded as cvs- or xls-file.
