WATER AVAILABILITY, MANAGEMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE ON THE PROPERTY Please describe; 1) The current emergency water situation including existing water infrastructure, watering procedures and water points 2) The steps you have undertaken to reduce the effects of drought and water shortages on your livestock and property 3) Your proposed new water infrastructure, including an itemised list of the major expense items that you wish to claim 1) Due to extremely high evaporation rates and lack of rainfall in recent months, our property is now experiencing increased stockwater demands. The property is divided into six s (2 southern, 2 central, and 2 northern) with troughs in each and tanks in the central s (see attached Map). We have 6 dams on the property. 4 dams are now dry, and the water levels in the other 2 dams (located in southern s) are approaching low levels, with an estimated 2 months supply remaining. Our sub-artersian bore pumps ~ 1500 litres per hour. This is providing adequate water flow to fill our troughs that are connected to the bore via polypipe. The troughs in the northen s are not conected to the bore via polypipe however. As the bore is not centrally located on the property, we are having to cart water long distances - from the bore to the troughs in the northen parts of the property using private vehicles and a 1250 L tank. We are trying to encourage our cattle to graze in the northern s as they contain a greater quantity of nutritive pasture - however, the nothern s have insufficient water infrastructure and therefore they are being underutilised. 2) We stock our property in accordance with the appropriate carrying capacity of the land. Our property is normally stocked with ~ 470 head of cattle. In the past six months we have sold 50 cows, 62 weaners and 2 bulls in order to reduce grazing pressure on our property as the drought conditions continue. Early weaning has commenced for the remaining calves - 40 of them will be sold once saleable weights are reached. Early pregnancy testing has also been conducted in order to identify barren females for sale. Agistment has not been possible as many properties normally offering agistment are experiencing the effects of drought themselves. Urea and molasses licks are being utilised to supplement feed diets of female cattle with calves at foot - cotton seed meal is incorporated as a protein source. We have fenced off the dry dams that are boggy and have pumped any remaining water into tanks so that this water can then be used to water stock via troughs. Desilting of dry dams has commenced to ensure their long-term viability. This will not be an onerous task as most dams were cleaned in recent times. 3) We plan to install 2 recently purchased water tanks in the two northern s, adjacent to the existing troughs. We will connect these storage units and the troughs to the southern bore by extending (2 x 4km) polypipe from the existing pipelines in the central s - this would reduce the walking distance for cattle between watering points and feed sources. We will also install 2 pressure pumps to provide adequate water flow. By doing this, we will be able to easily transport water to all watering points, thereby encouraging stock to graze the better quality pasture and distribute grazing pressure evenly throughout our property. I am a primary producer (as outlined in the EWIR Guidelines) who normally spends more than 50 per cent of their labour on, and derives more than 50 per cent of their gross income from a primary production enterprise. 2. The property described in Item B above is not a hobby farm. 3. I own, share-farm or lease the property where the water infrastructure being claimed under the rebate has been established. 4. The property described in Item B above is currently drought declared by either an area/shire declaration or an Individual Droughted Property declaration. 5. I believe the property has a lack of available water to ensure animal welfare, or the water that is available will be insufficient to sustain the livestock on the property until the next expected inflow. 6. I have installed or will install the water infrastructure for grazing livestock permanently residing on the property. 7. I have not introduced any livestock onto this property during the current drought or in the three month period prior to the drought declaration (includes livestock taken on for agistment). 8. I understand that upon endorsement of this form I am eligible to apply for the Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate. However, my rebate application will need to be assessed and endorsement of this form does not mean that automatic payment of the rebate will be processed and approved upon the receipt of the application form. 9.
