9 Celebrating Student Achievement You will never leave where you are, until you decide where you'd rather be. Dexter Yager 9

10 Celebrating Student Achievement Student engagement is the singularly most important factor in student achievement. 10

11 Celebrating Student Achievement Student engagement begins with a hope, and a belief, that achievement is achievable. 11

12 Celebrating Student Achievement TO BEGIN A CULTURE OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT, WE SHOULD RECOGNIZE AND CELEBRATE AS MANY STUDENTS IN AS MANY ACHIEVEMENT CROSS SECTIONS & DEMOGRAPHIC CROSS SECTIONS AS POSSIBLE 12

53 Recognizing Individual Student Needs Due to consistency in subject matter content clusters from grade level to grade level, more concrete goals may be set for English Language Arts. 53

62 Other Considerations Student disinterest in or resistance to content standards-based assessment jeopardizes validity and reliability of summative data. Student STAR savvyness and intrinsic motivation facilitate content standards-based instruction. Content standards-based curriculum and instruction summative data as starting point, not destination. 62

63 Conclusion Culture of student achievement begins with student engagement. Student engagement must be followed by student personal, concrete goal-setting for improved academic performance. All of this can happen through the use of ZOOM! Data Source Data Director tools. When students are engaged in standards-based learning, teachers will become more effective and more engaged in content standardsbased curriculum and instruction and beyond. Validity and reliability of summative data will also improve, to further inform instructional practices developed by the data-driven Professional Learning Community. 63
